    That lady from the Canadian Civil Liberties Association is the kind of person to complain about police brutality and corruption but then when a counter-measure to that is enacted (body cameras recording encounters) she is against it.

      Body cameras in Canada are absolutely useless, because any police misconduct can immediately be swept under the rug because it’s locked away from the public as soon as it’s investigated and never seen last year. There was a man in Toronto who was shot by the police while he was sleeping that body cam footage has never been seen. It was immediately locked away in the investigation and any information regarding to that incident doesn’t exist. It’s impossible or difficult to find but I know it happened. I saw the news report a year ago from global news, but now it doesn’t exist if you erase the evidence of police misconduct how can you say it ever happened?

      Not sure if it's the same, but your comment of comes. Don't lie could be incorrect. Because I'm not sure. But I think they're the same as the state's. Police can lie to gain a conviction which then bigs the bigger question. When does the lying stop?

    • @naui1980
      @naui1980 7 місяців тому

      Now if you're talking to the body camera. I think that should be remotely controlled by a miles length. Reach for the cops so they can't influence them to tell them to shut it off. Mute it whatever cause cop should not be allowed to mute the camera or shut off while the cops Concoct some story. To get their stories straight

      Leo F Indeed, but my comment was in response to "it's my decision to continue videotaping or turn it off". If policy is to allow officers to liberally turn on/off cameras with little to no justification, it could be used to avoid the officer's own accountability. I disagree with the woman from the Canadian Civil Liberties Union too. Deleted footage may become relevant at a later time.

    The officers shouldn't have to be instructed to turn on the camera, it should always be on and the footage should all be kept for at least a week.
    Filming random people going about their daily business doesn't actually hurt anybody, and having the camera on constantly would allow for documentation of that officer's misuse of his camera. Officers "accidentally" forgetting, or just not bothering, to turn their cameras on while carding random civilians (which we know for a fact they do daily) or ambushing sleeping homeless people (ditto) seems to have a far greater potential for harm.

      Sajjad Syed Don't need memory storage on the cop if it is uploaded into the cloud and if that is not accepted he can carry a 500 gigabit memory pack connected to the camera with additional batteries that keep the camera "rolling" for 24 hours ! solid state technology allows this now !

    • @springer2112
      @springer2112 9 років тому +6

      Sajjad Syed This is what I'm saying ! Make it so they can't tamper with it ! If a seal is broke you get suspended, without pay, do it again you get fired no pension ! And if a hand covers the camera during an "incident" Automatic indefinite suspension without pay ! until the "incident" has been adjudicated ! Which includes civil suits !

    The camera's should only be turned on by a police tech upon issue to the cop at the beginning of his shift and then turned into the tech that can download the day for that officer and stored for 2 years with the exception of (a murder case or the statue of limitations of a crime) videoing a conflict that a civilian can order the police to give them a copy of the day in question for the simple reasons of not allowing a cop to turn off the camera to hide wrong doing on his part and to document the cause for a police interaction with the public to determine if civil rights were in fact violated ! The Cop should not have the ability to turn the camera off, ever !

    • @Baseshocks
      @Baseshocks 9 років тому +1

      The police do not have to hand over any evidence whatsoever. I've been to court too many times to know this.
      The police are however entitled to lie to suspects and provide false evidence. Every time I've went to jail, I was always treated better by the inmates than by the "peace officer". Duty Councell, who is supposed to act on an accused behalf often also lie in favour of the police.
      FYI, I've always been bailed out and so far do not yet have a criminal, but the Toronto police and their allies keep on trying.

    these should be direct upload to a cloud server via a cell line and the officer should have to request footage(and there should be public access to the footage as well)
    police should not have any more control over these camera's than being forced to wear them.

    • @PoseidonGod
      @PoseidonGod 3 роки тому

      They can't delete the footage. And what you're saying about officers having to request it but the public having instant access to it doesn't make sense. It's perfectly fine with the officers being able to see the footage and yes, it'll be better if the public could have fast access to it (unless there is an ongoing investigation).

    The Europeans/Asians love to point out that all/most American Police are armed. As you can see here, Canada also does. Even in a country with much less crime and much more restricted gun laws.
    It’s just the smarter thing to do. If you’re going to protect citizens, you’re going to actually want to protect them….in any situation. I get the the UK and other places have a response team with specific officers that have firearms, but they have to respond. Any officer on the scene in US/Canada can at least attempt to subdue a dangerous person.

    those officers on the bikes look hilarious, the USA’s cops are the best cops in the world because they are so manly and have everything that a cop should have…but these officers on those bikes have literally nothing! cuz seriously are you gonna be able to chase a car or even someone on foot with a bicycle?

    I bet these cops behaviours are little different with them having cameras on them. Saying that though this is Canada, the cops are probably as polite as the citizens. (Some)

    More like download the video on there computers and video editing themselves stuff they don't want the supervisors too see in case they are doing something corrupt or not within the law. They should have a certain section where the videos should be turned in to the certain officer within the section for video handed over for downloading so nothing incriminating cannot get deleted. Just can't trust the police in this city. Or some at least. Most are young trigger happy itchy fingered kids with a badge and a bad attitude towards certain types of people.
