This is proof that through a lot of FF7 leading up to the Lifestream scene, Cloud didn’t feel like himself. Only pieces of him surfaced here in there through his interactions with Tifa and their past. She was literally the key to him coming back to himself and his feelings also resurfacing fully when he did.
After Aerith's little journey through Sector 5 as a child I don't believe for one fucking second any Resident would give a damn about Cloud in this situation.
Theirs a difference, he's wearing a military solider Uniform carrying a blade too heavy for normal people to life. Aeris was just some little girl on the streets. Cloud is a spectical
This right here shows Tifa is one of the hero’s of the story. Cloud would have stayed a vegetable and threw on a black robe if not Tifa finding him. She’s definitely his light out of the darkness just as the creators have stated.
@@fanzy7 False. I would say it’s the other way around. But if you want to interpret the story that way. And that’s your dopamine hit. Then by all means.
@@garrykearns2316 all the real players of FF7 who played this game since 1997 know that Clerith is canon and Cloti is optionnal, it's a fact, all the story goes that way
Cloud literally regresses to what his 13 year old self thought was an ideal Soldier. The mako poisoning and the shock of seeing Tifa after so long must have jolted his brain into regressing back to when they were in Nibelheim. Crisis Core Cloud is shy and awkward, sure, but he's a lot more mature than this Cloud if you think about it. But it sure is a good thing Tifa showed up, because the alternate was that messed up mako junkie state he was in.
It's his Jenova cells. Jenova was a shapeshifting alien who had the ability to mimic others perfectly, which she used to turn the Cetra against one another by turning into their loved ones. Those with her cells receive a diluted version of this ability. In Cloud's case, the Jenova cells picked up certain traits from Zack, then when he bumps into Tifa at the station, it reads Tifa's memories of Cloud and merges them both to form a false persona
He became more like sephiroth younger version. It was both the jenova and s-cells. You could even say the old cloud no longer exists independently. His current version is a mix of his broken memories and personality.
@@funkyfranxI’m having trouble understanding the jenova cell thing. How is it able to read Tifa’s mind if she never had any Jenova cells? I always thought it pulled from Cloud’s memories of Tifa when he was incognito during the Nibelheim incident?
I’ve seen people complain about Tifa not telling Cloud the truth right away in Rebirth but they forget that Cloud wouldn’t have recovered from it. And Tifa didn’t know enough to put him back together when they first met, she doesn’t even know that he got experimented on. She has memory loss too because of when she fell on her head as a kid so it was better that she played the long game. Cloud would’ve been an even easier target for Sephiroth to control him if Tifa had truth him the truth right away because Cloud would’ve had even more intense Mako Poisoning and would’ve been in a Vegetable State. Also, Tifa was always confronting him about what really happened so that she can help him but he kept dodging her. Although annoying that he does that, it played out right in the end. And Part 3 of Remake will show why it works out that way
The ones complaining are obviously a specific type of fan, and they're not Tifa's. But that part of the fandom are hyper emotional and lack logic, so don't let it bother you.
@@alejandromomota6934 Mako poisoning puts the individual into a near catatonic state like jessies father, With Cloud and Zack's escape you slowly see Cloud come out of that state, by the time Tifa finds him he no longer has Mako poisoning he's regaining his cognitive functions, anything beyond his reunion with Tifa is purely linked to the manipulation caused by the Jenova cells and his Dissociative personality disorder brought on by the trauma of the prior events. Cloud gets Mako poisoning a second time when he falls into the lifestream where he is put into a catatonic state again. That's why I don't believe in the idea that he somehow has Mako poisoning throughout the entirety of the story, Mako poisoning dulls a persons senses and makes them unaware of their surroundings.
@@naruarthurMy man those crooks did end up putting 2 and 2 together and leaving Cloud be. Oh and I wouldn't be criticizing the intelligence of crooks when many people in positions of power and wealth are in fact crooks.
@nexusconnection22 They technically are doing a full remake in this style it's just stuck behind a weird gacha system and mobile controls ported to PC. The game isn't half bad anyways.
Tifa always has and always will love and care for Cloud. She cares so much about him, she convinces him to join Avalanche just so that she can keep him around and keep an eye out for him. Cloud might feel that his relationship with Tifa was always a one-way street, but in reality, Tifa loved and cared for him just as much.
@@S_Blitz I disagree though! It's the subtle signs they put in and they did it really well. He's constantly touching her and holding her, already from the Remake. The signs were clear but they ain't words but his body language. Which is on point because it fits the 'beneath the Highwind' part lol.
I love how insistent Tifa is. Three times she insists that Cloud stay in Sector 7 where she lives. "Something was wrong. I felt there was something strange about the things you talked about. All the things you didn't know that you should, and other things you shouldn't know that you did. I wanted to make sure... But then I heard you were leaving, and I didn't want that. I didn't know what to do. So, I thought I needed more time. And that's why I told you about the AVALANCHE job. I wanted to be with you and watch you." FF7 is so damn good.
I love this part too. But in the Japanese, she doesn't say 'But then I heard you were leaving', she says something like 'Every time I brought it up, you drifted further away.' Gives a very different impression; it's sad the translation was so bad
Tifa found Cloud at his lowest, his weakest...nursed him back to health, put up with his schizophrenia and helped him recover his true self. Aerith also helped, but mostly because she was nostalgia struck for Zack and tried to fish out her old boyfriend out of him, discovering to no avail that it's a lost cause. I really love it how they made her flinch with frustration on a few occasions because of it, dispelling the angelic aura around her. Our experience of Clerith from OG and remake is all from Cloud's messed up point of view. His make belief coping mechanism. Our infatuation with Aerith as fans and our inability to differentiate her human character from the magical person she appears to be is also part of that complex. The creators outlined the hero's journey towards self discovery this way on purpose an we are part of the experiment...which is genius storytelling. Aerith is just a girl with a hard life, who fell in love with the little prince who came crash landing twice...She died trying to save the planet, she had much fun along the way but the last we see of her true self was at the temple of the ancients...after her death its all just life stream gliches and fragments of Cloud's guilt ridden panic attacks which only cease by the end of Advent Children.
This scene would have been a perfect epilogue for Crisis Core:Reunion. After the credits finish, we see Cloud barely functioning and mixed up images of Zack's memories with him in place play as he stares at nothing. Then Tifa snaps him out of it with Zack fading away from all memories.
Tifa saves Cloud so many times... brings him back to the real world.. She might be the best female video game character of all time. So many positive attribute... strong, kind, vulnerable, works on her emotions, helpful, considerate of others, mindful.. she is written way too lovely to be real.
There are people like that that exist in the Real; it's just that those folks have already lived a whole life usually (and learned something from every single lesson and failure throughout). To meet someone in their early 20s that is already a largely "complete" integrated human is really REALLY rare. I have yet to meet one, and I feel like I've been everywhere
@@ADPax10its more of current young generation being spoiled and told that they more smarter then any one before them and older generations are just stupid.
@ShadowriverUB I'm not sure about that. When older-Millennials like myself and those of my age group were children, we were also considered as the most spoilt and over-nurtured Gen there ever was. But I've at least met a few very intelligent and very wise ("Perennial students" and the like) in each generation. It's just that the older folks had more time to learn from their past mistakes and to think about things. Now, many obviously chose not to use their time for that (LOL), though that could be said for all age groups. There IS a through-line of wisdom that crosses all generations, but christ, there are a lot of people who never learned how to think critically, practice humility, or discern truth from illusion.
I have a solid feeling that this scene in Remake part 3 will play out VERY similarly to this ever crisis version. I’m even more confident in my thinking because in the end of Chapter 1 of Rebirth, Cloud says to Tifa “you know I can’t tell you that” when she asks him where he was for 5 years. This mirrors this scene where he says “Sorry, I can’t talk about my time at Shinra. It’s confidential”
Damn, this is exactly what I was thinking. I remember reading people being confused about that scene. But having seen this video I wasn't at all. I wonder if they add some things to it though. This works in text bubbles and chibi models. But the moment it becomes AAA modern graphics with voice acting etc the scene will not allot more. Hopefully the new additions are extra layers just as they did with anything up till now. For example, not one time does she mention how much he has changed here. I mean sure she's surprised but you'd think that it would be more jarring to see him like this if the last memory you have is at the water tower/that next spring when he leaves as a boy.
I agree with you because this EC character episode for Cloud is written by Mr. Nojima (all the character episodes are) and he’s the scenario writer for the Remake project so I’m sure it will align.
@@markcarlocabico5363 He watches Zack die when he recovers from the mako poisoning. By the time Tifa finds him, the issue is Jenova messing with his memories.
Even though i born in 20's i never play the original game. Now that i finish the remake one im really feeling regret never get to play this and never get to feel that nostalgic
you can still play the original, I revisited the game before the remake came out (I grew up with the original) and I forgot how hilarious and stupid the original was. I recommended my firend to play it for the first time and we had moments where we cried out laughing at how funny it was
I have a feeling part 3 is going to open with this scene, then cut to Tifa in the Tiny Bronco on their way to the Northern Crater with her remembering it and her contemplating how Cloud is getting worse, and she feels helpless.
It would probably have to be a childhood friend but I think in this world this kind of relationship is pretty rare. Don't feel so bad about it. Like Aerith says in rebirth "I wish I had a childhood friend like that". I would say that's most people. lol
I genuinely love that they use HD remastered versions of the OG PS1 music, rather than more orchestral versions you hear in things like FF7R. It fits the theme and style of the game better.
I hope they show this in the 3rd Remake game. There's a year gap between Zack and Cloud joining Avalanche and this would be a good part of the story to include.
A year ? Pretty sure it happens like the next day or smth. Cloud was 16 during the Nibelheim incident, they stayed in a “coma” for 5 years and Cloud was 21 when he joined Avalanche. So it happens right next to each other
@@hishouha Yep same thoughts here. I don't know the exact day it happens but the way you can look at it is Zack dies on sunday, Cloud arrives in the slums that night and they meet there. She tells him about the Avalanche job. The next day monday he's literally swinging that buster sword at Shinra troopers lol. The next weekend they are already in Kalm. Everything after that though supposed has more time inbetween. Though you can't quote me on that either.
@Rusalo4ka-ue1mt Ahhhhh right. No that makes sense haha. Though I think that's covered in Crisis Core and also Zack is just carrying Cloud around like a comatose person. Not sure if that's compelling material. But yeah thanks for giving me context. More interesting to me is being reminded just how little time there is between him arriving and Midgar and the bombing mission, meeting Aerith, plate falling etc. It's crazy.
@@mikev8746official timeline: - Zack and Cloud were captured and experimented on for 4 years by Hojo - They were escaping mostly on foot from Nibelheim towards Midgar (other continent) for about a year - Cloud in half comatose state arrives in Midgar roughly two months since Zack death - Tifa finds cloud and in couple of days later the main story of og kicks in. In remake they even wanted to highlight that with Tifa finding Cloud the apartment after bombing mission. So it wasn't much time.
Since Square wont address the elephant in the room about Clouds outfit. It's now my personal headcanon that Cloud ate his shoulder pads in the absence of Zack's hospitality. How he aquired his steampunk armor pieces is however, still a mystery.
Its silly that no one ever asks him why an "Ex-Soldier" would be opposed to speaking about his past "confidential" missions. Like bro, we literally just bombed a reactor AGAIN why not open up about what shinra did and why you left shinra. I mean, i know they wouldnt get a good answer, but i still think its funny that the group damn near refuses to press cloud on just about anything he does or says.
Yeah after all he went through in Nibelheim, then being sealed in a mako pod for 5 yrs and the trauma from Zack being killed, Cloud's weak mako infused mind along with Jenova's cells merged with Tifa's memories altered his personality into a fake Ex-SOLDIER one.
Yes he literally shows up to 7th Heaven and Barret recruits him within a day it seems. In Remake it's shown Cloud doesn't even have a bed to sleep in until after he gets back from the bombing mission. In the OG he just sleeps on the floor in the pinball machine hideout
I like how this remake looks, the camera plans resemble with the ones on Playstation, and the character models look good, maybe the animations are not excellent, but this game does a good work looking good.
People wonder why Tifa didn't tell him the truth. Cloud is all Tifa has left anymore and Cloud needed Tifa. If Tifa broke the illusion, Cloud would have left and Sephiroth would have won.
Not only that but we know she tried to ask about the past but then Jenova blocks her and he glitches out. This was talked about in the OG JP version. She said she started ask about it but he then his mind started to wander far away (idk why it was taken out of the EN release) and he would get worse. So it makes sense she stopped asking him. Then she even began to wonder about her own memories and if she was wrong. After all, Cloud was recounting things accurately but she just didn’t recall him being there. And now in Rebirth, they have Tifa addressing this, thinking maybe the Whispers affected her memories too and that’s why Cloud’s memories don’t match hers. So there are actually good reasons why he doesn’t get confronted by her (or Aerith for that matter since she also knows something is up with him).
When do you get this scene? In og you don’t see this until late second disc if I’m remembering correctly which is way far off from when you first leave Midgar
I needed this bit of the story this was an important piece of the story and i'm kinda sad it didn't make it to Remake but at least I know how it went down now
@@Force-Multiplier Not this scene specifically, but Tifa's reunion with Cloud was in the OG, yes. She knew from the moment she found him that he was seriously messed up, and that is why she never pressed him on anything. She didn't want to break him
Cloud through his Jenova cells literally read her mind. And used the memories of Nibelheim to put together his SOLDIER persona. You can also see the Jenova cells blocking out the words Tifa says because it would shatter his mind. Same happened in REMAKE when Aerith tried telling Cloud who she dated prior to meeting him.
a more realistic answer would be: Cloud was in a state of akinetic catatonia caused by his trauma, his deep sleep in Hojo’s lab, mako poisoning and jenova cells. Akinetic Catatonia includes a huge lack in dopamine in the brain. which is why dopamine can cure catatonia. Seeing Tifa, the girl he loved, gave him a rush of dopamine, shocking his brain out of his catatonic state
Just until end of Midgar, with other campaign progression required alongside, and missing aspects of the journey, which they might later add back in through events or side stories. Cid, Cait Sith, Yuffie, Vincent not playable yet.
In Ever Crisis It now goes beyond Midgar due to every update ever month, mind you Ever Crisis you also play Crisis Core Zack & First Soldier Teen Sephiroth out of Before Crisis, Movie & Vincent story still to come I’m sure! Maybe more in near future we don’t know for sure.. 👍
Start thinking , Cloud was called by Jenova , bu was Zack too? Yeah he want to see Aerith, but sub constant led by Jenova to hornett nest to midgar ? To people who want to take him down, he might be better to fight control, but its make me thinking...

@@S_Blitz It was just fanfare, and does not affect the story itself. If it were like you said, then all dates would "beg to differ". The fact that it's just fun fanfare and in no way affecting the linear storyline comes straight from SE themselves.
@@S_Blitz Have you ever listened to the Final Fantasy VII Symphony? Nobuo Uematsu himself wrote the music for this symphony. If you know all about it, then you know that Aerith & Cloud gondolla date is canon, the others are players choice for fun and personal preference. There's actually a book with description, but since I have it typed up, I'll make it easy for you and paste it here. Explanation of the second movement titled “Words Drowned by Fireworks” opens with a short introduction to Aerith through her theme before starting the titular song “Words Drowned by Fireworks”, portraying the date with her and Cloud. Manifestations of “Cloud’s Theme“ make appearances throughout, and the couple hit it off while chimes flutter around like birds, then fireworks cut in. Afterwards, Aerith’s theme begins to play, but just before it fully blossoms the attention shifts back to Cloud for his exposition. His theme begins rather timidly as he begins to sort out his emotions. Fragments of Aerith’s and Tifa’s themes run throughout as Cloud’s theme becomes more confident, and his relationship grows with them. Just as Aerith is about to come back into the picture, Tifa’s theme cuts in almost intrusively, and Aerith’s theme gets drowned out. Tifa takes center stage, and Cloud’s theme makes a slight appearance with Tifa’s. But as Cloud remembers Aerith, he is left with a dilemma. Shrinking down, the second part of Cloud’s theme plays, again timidly as the birds return with Aerith, who tries to find her way back into his theme. Eventually the two cellos are able to harmonize, and Cloud realizes his feelings for her [Cloud chooses to be with Aerith]. Her theme finally moves into full blossom, and Cloud’s theme intertwines perfectly with hers. Although they are able to find each other briefly, Sephiroth suddenly interrupts them, leaving things in disarray. Aerith and Cloud try to find each other again, as different fragments from each theme enter in on different keys in desperate attempts to return to harmony. Things become more dire as Sephiroth steadily resurfaces yet again. Aerith’s theme repeatedly strives to make it through but to no avail; Sephiroth impales her with his blade, all she can manage now is quick, labored breaths. Sephiroth draws his sword out from her, and Aerith’s breaths slowly tapers off, until she breathes her last. Final Fantasy VII (Symphony in Three Movements) : II.
It turns out Tifa had a crush on cloud way before he made that promise to her. Those two are just dumb! 😆
Tifa in Rebirth felt like it was a one way street on her end and Cloud was the one who didn't care. BUT THEY FINALLY KISS!!!
@@S_Blitz I disagree though! It's the subtle signs they put in and they did it really well. He's constantly touching her and holding her, already from the Remake. The signs were clear but they ain't words but his body language. Which is on point because it fits the 'beneath the Highwind' part lol.

But then I heard you were leaving, and I didn't want that. I didn't know what to do. So, I thought I needed more time. And that's why I told you about the AVALANCHE job. I wanted to be with you and watch you."
FF7 is so damn good.
I love this part too. But in the Japanese, she doesn't say 'But then I heard you were leaving', she says something like 'Every time I brought it up, you drifted further away.' Gives a very different impression; it's sad the translation was so bad

@@jamelgallagher6602 from this same scene in FF7 OG
man it’s hard seeing cloud like that, poor guy
Last time he saw Tifa was five years ago, but last time Tifa saw him was longer than that
Tifa found Cloud at his lowest, his weakest...nursed him back to health, put up with his schizophrenia and helped him recover his true self.
Play the original it has an epilogue, and it's cheesy too.
I married my wife because she is like tifa and looks like her. She also saved my life ❤️

I feel like Tifa has saved Cloud more than he's saved her at this point lol
Just more evidence of how everything for Cloud has always been about Tifa. I don't think he could have recovered without her.
Me neither
He wouldn’t have at all. Everything revolves around her in his true mind.
True
Insane to see him literally get WORSE because of her ideal of him and say this
Yeah

It's literally a couple days lol no?
It's crazy.
@@mikev8746official timeline:
- Zack and Cloud were captured and experimented on for 4 years by Hojo
- They were escaping mostly on foot from Nibelheim towards Midgar (other continent) for about a year
- Cloud in half comatose state arrives in Midgar roughly two months since Zack death
- Tifa finds cloud and in couple of days later the main story of og kicks in.
In remake they even wanted to highlight that with Tifa finding Cloud the apartment after bombing mission. So it wasn't much time.
Wow So Tifa trigger him to sense and his memory mixed with Zack
And Tifa saw Cloud is weird all he say not make any sense
If this graphic got clasic ff 7 to remastered for ps4 and ps5 will bee perfect
Id pay 100 dollars for that day one
its sad cause they could have easily done this style...
then revert to the full size models like remake has for the battles.
sigh. oh well tho.
Is this how he got hired for the bombing run with Barret?
Yes he literally shows up to 7th Heaven and Barret recruits him within a day it seems. In Remake it's shown Cloud doesn't even have a bed to sleep in until after he gets back from the bombing mission. In the OG he just sleeps on the floor in the pinball machine hideout
A remaster of FF7 with these graphics is exactly what i want!
It's frustrating that they used it for a mobile game instead.
Tifa is the only person who knows him better than anyone else. She's like his light and savior at the same time.

how does cloud go from being mako poisoned / intoxicated to instantly recovered once he sees tifa ?
The power to not look as a poor piece of trash when your first love (and the only living person that knows you) look at you, more beautiful than ever.
Jenova Cells
Seeing Tifa, the girl he loved, gave him a rush of dopamine, shocking his brain out of his catatonic state
@@happypepper9326That's definitely not the answer though 😂

I'd buy an FF7 remake in this style.
Start thinking , Cloud was called by Jenova , bu was Zack too? Yeah he want to see Aerith, but sub constant led by Jenova to hornett nest to midgar ? To people who want to take him down, he might be better to fight control, but its make me thinking...
cloud is based in don quixote

@@AShroudOfTruth a denying Clerith it's all good, I guess their almost kiss in Gongoga was just fanfare too. It's okay keep the cope
@@S_Blitz It's not me coping. Truth has always been the smooth and easiest road to take. 27 years of romantically pairing them by SE, in their Final Fantasy exhibitions, in their books, ads, Dev quotes, including them as a couple with other FF romantic couples, valentines day celebrations, June being their wedding month, marrying them in their mobile game Final Fantasy Airborne Brigade, Kingdom Hearts, FF9, Dissidia, and other games. The long list goes on and on and on. Not to mention the official FF7 symphony I just shared above.
If only the actual game was good...
More Fanfiction Is all i see
This game feels like a true remake than the actual remake shame it’s a mobile game
Remaster sure. Remake no. Remake doesn’t imply it follows everything like a carbon copy. Hence the term. “Remake”
It would have been cool if all of Remake had been made to look like this with turn based combat
Wtf is this. He was supposed to be a mercenary before he met Tifa again
After Zack died, he went to Midgar himself. Then this video happen. Tifa introduced him to the Avalanche. And Barret hired him. Cloud needed money after all. You can say that Tifa fixed him some medicine and food while he stayed there. And after that, FF7 Remake part 1 started. Hope this help.
@@erratsuki7840why the group never acknowledge that he’s acting strange (delusion for being a soldier) except tifa?
@@javierf6162Heroine
@@javierf6162they didn’t know Cloud before Tifa introduced him to them. She probably told them he was a soldier friend. Tifa herself didn’t know he never made it into soldier either. If you played the og and went through the part where Tifa and Cloud were in the lifestream, you know that Tifa thought Cloud was never in Nibelheim during the incident, so you know she didn’t know he wasn’t a soldier.
All Tifa had in those years was before Cloud left Nibelheim he told her he would become a soldier and that was it. Never told her whether he made it or not.
Tifa was the only person alive in the knowledge of Cloud’s existence at the start of ff7 remake and og ff7, everyone else who knew Cloud were all dead. (Except sephiroth but why would he acknowledge him until he gets in his way?)
@@cantufekci23 so sephiroth don’t know cloud until cloud stabbed him? since cloud is just a regular trooper
Tifa moves funny while in combat
