- If you love sausages, bacon and other processed red meat, you might not have to cut it out from your diet after all. Researchers - led by Dalhousie University and McMaster University in Canada - reviewed the same evidence other scientists have looked at before and came to the conclusion that the risks for health are not as great as thought.
The story
Sausages and bacon are back on the menu after an international team of experts concluded there's little evidence that eating red and processed meat increases the risk of cancer. Public health bodies say the findings undermine sensible eating advice.

Hi
Wonderful episode because it's about food. However, we had new three words and expressions: back on the menu, raising eyebrows and go cold turkey. I love the last one because it's new and I'd try it out in my everyday speech. Thanks for BBC learning English channel, Neil and Katherine indeed.
Great to know we were able to help. Why not give us an example sentence using 'cold turkey'?
@@bbclearningenglish Hi, sure.
My neighbor went cold turkey when he quit drugs thoroughly.
2. I had been trying to give up smoking for a year, in the end I went cold turkey.

I feel like it's so hard to really know what food/diet is truly the best nowadays cause there's so much conflicting information. Lots of people think veganism is 100% the healthiest diet, but then there's other people who swear by keto, low carb, gluten free, carnivore etc.
You are right - there is always conflicting information so it's best to follow the advice you trust most and listen to your body.
The most healthy way to eat is to drink only water :)
To listen to your body, not follow the trends. What your body really needs, which diets are suitable for you. A healthy and balance diet is always the most viral key for better lifestyle.
This is the first time that i see both of them in the BBC studio .
That very Good
Great Lesson
My bf went cold turkey when he quit smoking after met me because I told him I’ll never find a bf who’s smoking

Hi every one
When my favourite group band back on the menu, it makes me raising eyebrows and I can't go cold turkey on my insomnia for watching their music video.
it's very comprehensive statement ..............bravo Gita
Nice
Hi sir i get confused in last word go cold turkey you told it means give up bad habit mmediately and completely but in case of Neil sentence the word gave up and completely already there than what does cold turkey mean here.....plzzzzz reply to my comment sir and mam both.....
We're not 100% sure of your question, but to clarify: Going cold turkey means to stop doing a habit immediately. Rather the gradually stopping doing something, it means that you totally give up there and then. It is an immediate stop to a (usually bad) habit.
Does that help you, Christopher?

Hiền Phùng Thị Thu excellent example
I love news review!
Your service is very useful tool for who want to improve own English skills. I appreciate the huge work offered to us. Anyway I have a question about the sentence "Neil went cold turkey when he gave up caffeine completely". If "went cold turkey" means "gave up the caffeine completely" what is the meaning of "went cold turkey" in this claim? Thanks in advance
'To go cold turkey' means to completely stop something, and have to put up with not having it.
@@bbclearningenglish pardon me, if I divided the sentence into two parts - to try to be more clear in which I would say - 1) Neil went cold turkey (we point out Neil's condition - he was likely shivering and sweating) 2) when gave up the caffeine completely (action). Thanks
I love Neil's voice, very charismatic
