I’m a bait and wait kind of guy. No joke I watched your video and decided to order some pre-rigged swimbaits on Amazon. Went out the next day and caught a 26 incher doing exactly what you demonstrated. Thank you and subbed!
That's awesome! Nice job! I'm glad i could help. It's way more fun to catch striper on lures compared to bait. It's more work but well worth it when you land one!
I remember when I lived in Roseville, I fished the delta alot, the last 50 lb striper I got about 30 years ago was a bankfish somehere in Rio Vista. Hit on a big crankbait, I think it was a bomber long A. Long time ago. Time for another one. I moved to Tennessee to chase the big river fish here
Yes sir! That eddy behind a bend is a prime place for them to rest out of the current. Pockets of baitfish will harbor there for the same reason. Great call on this one brother! #sacramentoriverfishing #stripebass
This might be a stupid question but all my striped bass have been caught like 5-10 feet from shore. Are they running shallow or do they follow from the deep?
It's definitely not a stupid question. Both they always come up close to the bank or shallow water to feed. Every time I've caught striper from the bank, it's been in that 5-10 ft strike zone. I've caught big females running up river in 4 feet of water. Also, males will follow from the deep
@Fishtherapy do you know any good spots in Rio vista ? I’m going out there tomorrow in the evening bank fishing? And there a good bait to use at this time like shad?
There's a fishing pier in Rio Vista, Sherman Island, or sandy beach, but you have to walk out to the end at Sandy Beach. Live minnows / mudsuckers. I usually use anchovies or blood worms from the bank. I've also had good luck with chicken liver. Good luck out there!
Keep trying. You will get one! The Sac River is still pretty muddy. Try a rub or a dip scent and different size swimbait or throw some cut bait, but that's not as fun. Good luck!🎣

Do you use a leader line? I couldn't tell by the video.
Sometimes, I use 20 lbs fluorocarbon line for a leader, but I was just using 30 lbs braided line
Thanks for the lesson.
No problem!
Thanks. I just moved out to Cali and I’ve heard a lot about the stripers
No problem. Welcome to Cali! Striper are super fun to catch, and they taste even better. Striper tacos

How feasible is lure fishing in the wider/faster sections of the Sacramento River, say around Garcia Bend?
Yes, just play with different sizes and weights when there's stronger current cast it out as far as possible

Also, they sell fresh locally caught frozen shad at the bait shop in Rio Vista
@ is sandy beach overnight fishing as well?
Is this knights landing ? Close to 2nd or 3rd beach?
Yes, 2nd and 3rd beaches are in Knight's landing
Good presentation of cast and retrieve for swim bait and lures. Is that nights landing
Thank you! Yes it is
Can you still catch striper mid May?
Yes, they are still spawning up river
Ive been going fishing 2-3 times a week after work throwing swimbaits. Havent caught a single fish yet😅.
