This movie is the definition of the word "masterpiece". Everything about it works perfectly. The conflict between Hiccup and Stoick is handled very well, the bonding between Hiccup and Toothless is perfectly paced, I love how much Toothless acts like a cat, and how all the dragons act like real animals, and the musical score and flying scenes are absolutely beautiful. I cannot give this movie enough praise.
The ameriican right wiing people should watch this movie and replace dragons with bllack people and Indian pro hiindutva people should watch this movie and replace dragons with musliims and this movie will make everyone friends with each other😂😂😂😂
I will never not have chills when that music swells into a crescendo and Hiccup and Toothless fly properly for the first time, it's just SO EPIC. Seeing this movie in 3D in the theaters back when everyone was still doing the gimmicky "oh shit something's flying at you from the screen!" bit was next level, the flying scenes were just so gorgeous
How to Train Your Dragon and Kung Fu Panda both have amazing stories of growth and discovery and adventure. But Kung Fu Panda's story takes a backseat to the humor of Jack Black, andHow to Train Your Dragon leans into the drama and beauty while still offering tons of funny moments.
Fun fact: the moment where toothless hesitates to put his face on hiccups hand was actually a glitch in the animation software, happy accident that made the scene so much better
I think Test drive, the piece from where Hiccup tries his ‘fin map’ to fly with Toothless together for the first time is my favourite symphonic piece in film of all time. It just fills you with this unbridled hope!
Love 2 things: 1) when Hiccs warbles off with holding onto Toothless, toothless's tail sways into frame where the fin is broken off, showing they both need each other and lost a big part of themselves. 2) how quickly Astrid changes her mind because of Hiccs showing her the beautiful skies when they fly, so she becomes so interested what he does next, she follows him. Just simply adore how she is following him, knowing when she does, amazing things will happen.
Absolutely agree with your take on Dreamworks just being an absolutely legendary animation studio. Legendary stories like the HTTYD Trilogy, the Kung Fu Panda Trilogy, The Prince of Egypt, Shrek, Megamind, one of their newest movies Puss In Boots: The Last Wish. I just love how 3-Dimensional their characters are as well. There's so much emotion involved, it's amazing
That first proper flight scene without the manual and the first flight scene from Man of Steel are two of the only sequences that give me chills everytime I watch it. The music, the visuals and everything about both is just a fucking masterpiece.
This is one of my favorite animated movies of all time. It's right up there with Up, Wall-e and Howl's Moving Castle. The imagery throughout, and especially during the final assault on the big dragon with fireball through the opened up cave, and the big dragon exploding in a fireball on impact with the ground. And that's all candy when it comes to the emotional beats and the true heart of the story. This movie brings tears to my eyes every time I watch it.
What I like most about this movie: The toughest man in the kingdom watches on as his wimpy son is riding the most feared dragon and fight off the another dragon that's the size of a mountain.
Yet another series I must watch thanks to Steph and Andrew. Like I always say. You 2 are like my favorite people on UA-cam rn. And I get happy seeing you 2 react together. It’s the best. Makes my day. Love you guys ❤️❤️❤️
HTTYD just gets even more amazing in terms of character arcs and cinematography as the trilogy goes on. And the epic music scores by Jónsi (from Sigur Rós) just elevates the beauty tenfold. Watching these movies on the IMAX screen was just breathtaking.
The dragon that Hiccup was meant to fight, wasn't connected to anyone at all. Hiccup's Dad shouted and banged his hammer hard agents the metal railing. The abrupt sounds, startled the Dragon and it reacted by attacking Hiccup.
I love how it shows there’s consequences to be the hero. He didn’t just have scratches and bruises. He lost a part of his leg and I love that the show that.
Besides the three films, there's also a short film and several shows. Stoick is voiced by Gerard Butler, who's also appeared in Reign of Fire, Law Abiding Citizen and the Angel trilogy
I have seen their whole 8 season show more than 5 times now and it's one of the greatest series i have ever seen. Every episode just get better and better and its their journey between 1st and 2nd movie and its as good as their movie
@@shwetarupalika Indeed ! It perfectly shows the relation between all of the characters and not just Focuses on the main characters. No wonder it is so much more painful to see stoik's demise after you've seen the series ❤️🩹.
I love everything about this movie. I DO get genuine Gojira / Kaiju vibes about the final boss btw. There is nothing cheesy about it's design beyond the general cartoon style of the movie.
HTTYD series is special. I went to see the third movie in cinema and I swear to god... Ive never fought back tears like that before. It was just me and bunch of teenagers.
The "Dragon" Trilogy is really the best of animation features. It soars above the others without diminishing them in any way, they're just that good. Your empathy and reaction to this beautiful storyline earned my subscription. The creators brilliantly based Toothless on a cross between a cat and a dog, so he was easy to love almost instantly. I truly believe in the intelligence of animals, I hate the killing and hunting of them, so this film harmonized with my feelings. As I type this, I have a squirrel looking at me through my window waiting for his almonds that I distribute daily. Every creature just wants to be loved, and they all have intelligence and emotions. We, as humans, are amazing at breeding fear into them ... we need to get better than that.
I never had much interest in seeing any of these movies, but after this, I think I should watch the whole thing. It looks like a cute movie. By the way, I hope you two are planning on watching Indy 4 before the new one comes out. I want to know what you both will think of it.
I find it strange how practically every reactor I've watched scoffs at Hiccup's knife in that scene where he comes across the tied up Toothless. What kind of weapon do you want him to have? It's not like he has to fight the dragon. It's already tied up. A knife is honestly the best tool for this situation.
(long rambling comment follows, sorrynotsorry. I love this movie.) The moment with Toothless and Hiccup flying straight up into the clouds with the big dragon chasing them always gives me "How'd you deal with the icing problem?" vibes. This is obviously nothing like the first Iron Man movie, but the same...feeling? Random, but your shirt reminded me. Dreamworks consistently tells better animated stories than Disney, imo. You can argue animation styles all day, but the characters always seem to have more depth. (This has been my Risky Internet Opinion(tm) for the day) The way it uses music to support the emotional moments, like the exhilaration of their first flight through the rocks. It gives me chills ever time, and I must have seen this film a dozen times or more by now. In the theatre it was glorious, but the music helps it translate even to small screen. That theme we hear when they fly is a combination of Hiccup and Toothless' themes woven together. Neither of them can fly without the other. I absolutely love the dragon designs. They way they all move differently, and have personality. They aren't just made to look like epic mythical creatures, that would have felt out of place here, they feel like animals, they fit into the world. (Imagine how strange an elephant or a giraffe might look if nobody had ever seen one.) I have a soft spot for the gronkles, I think I'd want one of those :D Given the absolute lack of any kind of limb differences in most children's media outside of Captain Hook's hook and the occasional peg-legged pirate, seeing a character actually lose a limb during a story, especially the MAIN character, is something I don't recall seeing in anything else? (I may be wrong, I haven't watched every film ever made). THEN showing the people around him adapting to it, and making things accessible, rather than Hiccup being quietly excluded from his normal life, is pretty unique. Having it be Gobber, with his own multiple limb amputations, who builds his new leg is also just neat. Shoutout to Gobber too, while he is more of a comedic character, he isn't comedic because of his amputations, and in fact, when contrasted with Hiccup at the start of the film, is very much a central part of the village and society that we see Hiccup is "too different" for. And under the comedy he has several important roles, both in-world, and to the story. The village blacksmith (a physically demanding and vital job), running the dragon training for the young people in the village, and the chief's best friend and advisor (possibly one of the few close friends Stoic has as Chief? we only really see him giving orders to everyone else in the film, but Gobber actually talks to him, and not always what he wants to hear), as well as, from what we see, essentially helping Stoic raise Hiccup. You have to imagine he's been a big influence on how Hiccup sees the world, and how he sees physical disability. (Remembering that Hiccup's first instinct when he saw Toothless' lost tail was to build a prosthesis for him.) [/rambling] LOOK, I have a lot of thoughts and feels about this film okay? :p Great reaction!
The only thing about this movie that makes me sad is that it never won the Oscar it deserved. The year it was nominated it had to compete against Toy Story 3. Any other year and HTTYD would have easily wiped the floor with the competition
Fun Fact : Actually toothless bit off hiccups leg to save him from the fire if you look at it then you see Toothless with full speed trying to grab hiccups leg He does it with his teeths thats why his leg came off it makes them even

All 3 of them are amazing movies.
I just so scared of live action remake , it's soooo precious.

How to Train Your Dragon was one of the first animated films i watched that i fell in love with.
have you ever seen Treasure Planet?
Same
Cars also is a great movie

One of the few franchises that just keeps getting bigger and better with each new installment. ❤ love it!
It is definitely DreamWorks best franchise just like Toy Story is to Pixar, except I think Httyd is better.
my favourite part of this entire movie is when hiccup lets go of the cheat sheet and flies toothless like a boss
When the music PEAKS👌
The music and the bond between toothless and hiccup makes me 😭😭!! Is it me or anyone else too?? The 2nd part is more emotional I can't...
That first proper flight scene without the manual and the first flight scene from Man of Steel are two of the only sequences that give me chills everytime I watch it. The music, the visuals and everything about both is just a fucking masterpiece.

I think they were talking about Toothless? When he sensed that Hiccup was in danger despite being so far away.
It was actually his hearing power. He was not so far away. And he sensed Hiccup was in distress.@@purpleirken1529
i thought that too but they were actually talking abt Toothless sensing that hiccup was in danger
The 'Madagascar' series is another great one. 🧡
(At 19:20) Their trapped in the *middle* of a flock. Toothless isn't not going anywhere.
I love how it shows there’s consequences to be the hero. He didn’t just have scratches and bruises. He lost a part of his leg and I love that the show that.

Yup best triology as good as lord of the rings trilogy in terms of getting better
Besides the three films, there's also a short film and several shows. Stoick is voiced by Gerard Butler, who's also appeared in Reign of Fire, Law Abiding Citizen and the Angel trilogy
