Thanks! I snell to the hook with mono, clinch to the swivel with both. braiad I go through the eye 2x very important and with a surgeon or uni to uni to connect em good question! Will get that in next bait video!
Great info 👍 You are very knowledgeable and I appreciate your passion for fishing. I'm somewhat new to fishing. I've been at it for few years but not going out that often I enjoy it greatly. I have a question. Any tips on removing a circle hook? I always have trouble getting a hook out of the fish. Do you have any videos on that? And I hate harming the fish in any way. Thx 👍
You got it Paul, Yea they have all kinds of caveats been handling these things a while can do with my eyes closed and expect it when i get it. Thanks always!
Hi Jerry, The Bunker caught quite a mix of fish today. You never know what you can catch with cut bait, but you will usually catch something. I always use my pliers to remove a hook and all my hooks are barbless. It's easier to unhook the fish and remove a hook from your hand. The Blues seem to be happy to stay in your area. Have fun and good luck, Mickey
Hi Mickey for sure! Yea the circles can be tricky those were pretty much barbless they get wrangled around and in so I find it easier sometimes to use my hands of course things can happen! Not bad though just advise others to use the pliers all the time and handle with care they have serious spines! Hope to do more bunker soon! Thanks always Mickey!
Great video Jerry! Lots of good fish and variety is always entertainment. The S to the K A T E giving you grief out there. That was good looking bunker too. Definitely gotta beat em up on bunker once In a while.
Hi Jerry. Quite a mix of things this time of the year. Sort of that in between time. Haven’t been out much lately due to illness but your videos kept me going. Hope to get back out soon. Thanks my friend , take care
hi Mike hope you get better soon and not to ill for long PLEASE!!! was enjoying hearing about your excursions the spring and hope to hear soon!!! Hope your out soon Mike thanks for being in touch I greatly appreciate hearing from you and next time youll tell me how you were running and gunning big blues on the beach!!!!
Nice surf action. I cannot catch and release a skate without him somehow getting me with one of those spikes on the Back to get me. I have yet to be bitten by one but the spikes are definitely no fun. I will take a wiirey twisting shark over that any day have a good one
Hi Jim yea they are super spiny! After the first few I get a leather coating on my hands. i dont suggest anyone handling them first time to do it like me I kinda know the regions and touch from catching em. First few each year I tend to feel it! I get bit all the time but this one oh man didnt wanna let go!!! Thanks always for sharing Jim!
Hey man I stumbled across your channel recently. My parents never showed me how to do pretty much anything growing up and people like you on UA-cam have been teaching me how to fish. I really appreciate your content and it’s helped me. I live in NJ and I’m a beginner at fishing, so do you have any recommendations for rods/reels for surf fishing? What rig has been more successful for you? And is bunker the most effective bait? Thank you man
Thanks you, any rod reel should do for starters. For the surf pier and jetty 8-10 foot rated for or in around 1-4 ounces should do for bait fishing. fish finders some hooks leader line bait up should do it. just have fun with it and take it from there
I like your channel I am a subscriber. Can I ask you what length of rod? You are using on this video and also what rod was it the brand name?Do you suggest that rod for bait casting.? Thank you sir
Yes! those you can keep i may keep a few each year they are quite good to eat just clean asap! so if i do keep one its the last one of the day, dogfish, sand shark, smooth hounds they are commonly called
Hey Jerry, nice content as always, just wondering what's your go to knot for Mono vs Braid ?
Tight lines & thanks for saftey protocols !!
Thanks! I snell to the hook with mono, clinch to the swivel with both. braiad I go through the eye 2x very important and with a surgeon or uni to uni to connect em good question! Will get that in next bait video!

Just be careful Chris, cause that's when she'll bite ya! Thanks always Chris!
Great video as always. Do skates have barbs (like sting rays)?
Just trying to get an idea of how to hold them...
Thanks ty, they dont have a sticker but the skin has spikes as a skin and can cut ya when you hold em gloves help!

10 foot works great, anything 8-11 foot 2-6oz will get it done, get what you like and feels best to you, works great with a baitcaster
