I use the Milwaukee 18v to prune about 3000 olive trees every year, using a pruning saw blade on it, I like it quite a lot. Previous to the Milwaukee I was using an older Makita 2 handed job that certainly got the job done and still works after a few years but the Milwaukee is a significantly better for tree pruning due to ease of 1 handed use.

    • @OZToolTalk
      @OZToolTalk  3 роки тому +4

yep absolutely. and i've found that if the branches are bouncing a lot because they are small, better off without the pruning blade. just a regular wood cutting blade is better for small stuff.

Oh my! Incredible video and comparison. I super appreciate the effort to do all of this. I took the plunge on the DeWalt dcs367 a few months back, and absolutely hate the vibrations enough to put me off the tool. My neighbors Makita recip is night and day difference compared to my DeWalt. I wish your video was available a few months back, as in hindsight if I knew the poor vibrations with the DeWalt I would NOT have purchased it. Other DeWalt tools I love but this recip makes some jobs unnecessarily difficult because of the vibration, and at times ends up eating blades - it's like watching money burn.

Bosch did tremendously good for being a brushed model, it wouldn’t surprise me if it was brushless and using something like the pro core 4ah battery with the 21700 cells (rather than the 20700 in the 8 and 12ah) that it’d smash the Milwaukee and probably be somewhere between 20-35% worse than the dewalt big boi
Anyway regardless, on price to performance the metabo and Bosch did really well in my opinion

I got into Milwaukee’s tool line back in 2009 strictly because of the m12 Hackzall. Upgraded to the m12 fuel and I think it’s the perfect balance of power, size and weight. The m18 fuel is just too big at the point. You can guess my thoughts on the makita and the Dewalt.
You should have thrown the 12 volt models in.

Another solid vid gents. It's not rocket science. Blade go in, blade go out. What are the important variables for me? Stroke length and speed. Give me the longest stroke and decent speed and you have a winner production wise. The other factors aren't really that important for me as I have yet to need to use these for extended periods. For this category, the D-handles are out in my book. I have the Milwaukees and they are great. Even the original M12 non fuel has it's place as it's so tiny. But it lacks stroke length. Any of these will get the job done though. For the vast majority of jobs, there are better tools than these. But when you need one, nothing will do what they can, where they can. So, they are a must-have tool in the truck. Keep up the great work!

Good evening from mid Tn. I hope everyone is having a great day.
I just watched this video and wanted to say thank you for a excellent job of comparing these saws.
I do have a question if you do not mind.
I have used Milwaukee during my semi professional career doing remodeling and above average home owner jobs.
Because of a major theft I am having to start my tool collection all over again. I have a few Dewalt and have been pretty satisfied so far. My question Is about the one handed unit from Dewalt, the only issues I have heard of is the stroke length, slower to cut. Did you feel is was a issue for a, cut anything occasionally tool?
Now days I only do jobs around the house or for friends and family.
I know it cannot compete with the Milwaukee overall but if I choose Dewalt I can get tool only.
After using the Dewalt do you feel it would still do well enough or should I just go ahead and spring for the Milwaukee.
Thanks again for a fantastic video. Well done sirs.
Edit to add, I have subscribed. I really like your testing and reviews.

I have a friend who works in a notable tool sales store, has done for about 4 years now, he says the most warranty returned tools, by a noticeable amount, is Milwaukee. if there were available, reliable statistics on these things, we'd love to. but there isn't. the problem with the kind of evidence you've provided is that it doesn't have context. Milwaukee are by far the biggest selling cordless brand in Aus. It stands to reason then, that they may well have the highest warranties too. But is their % of returned tools higher than other brands? We don't have that sort of data, and therefore can't comment on it :/

DW 367 does have a moveable shoe…but it is pretty stiff (on mine), so you need to set the angle to the work piece before switching on. The blade can be moved 90 deg to cut sideways. Warning: Diablo blades are good, but EXPENSIVE. Vibration: Hoo yeah..it does rattle your bones, not good for day long use imo. If you want to save time and have the best at what it is for…DeWalt, but it will cost you. I love mine. Extra: Warning…these WILL slice sheet goods, but secure the piece well or it will be jumping about and LOUD.

Finally got my tree branches cut using my new saw ua-cam.com/users/postUgkx84IcU5pbZd1Qrz8u4-YRLmJax7kdRi7B , and it was effortless. Then tackled taking pallets apart by just cutting through the nails. Zip Zip, like butter, took no time at all! Absolutely love that you just push a button to change the blade, so quick and easy. I chose cordless because of all the outside projects I need to do, and most are too far to extend an extension cord to. Incredibly lightweight, and easy to handle. I will be using this all the time. There is a reason they call them Sawzalls , because they literally saw all the things you need cut. Once you buy one you'll kick yourself for not doing it sooner ~ Just make sure and buy the right blades for the job you want to tackle. The blades are not expensive, and there are lots of various multi-packs available.

yes surprising, but having the only brushed motor and coupled with the shortest (13mm) stroke length could not have helped. using a saw of any kind with short strokes takes forever.

Can I just be honest... Early adopters like myself are on Makita, and we don't care about these other tools, we just want to know which Makita Saw to buy... Show me the Compact XRJ07ZB vs XRJ06Z and XRJ05Z thats the type of thing I need. Cuz yeah I'm not throwing out 40 batteries to switch to Dewalt they had their chance, they were terrible and I threw them away, not going back. Milwaukee has great tools, but they are late to the party... I have Makita from 20 years using the same batteries... So Grats to Milwaukee for getting a decent set of tools so my dad and others can finally get a clue and buy good battery tools, but yeah I've known how good Makita is for 20 years...

    • @OZToolTalk

'early adopters' by definition are people who want the latest and greatest. not the type of people who keep the same stuff for 20 years ....
can i summarise your request as, 'I like Makita, please compare Makita tools against each other?'. It's not a bad idea at all.

Five of these are electric hack saws while two of them are full on reciprocating saws. Great testing but the large dewalt and makita shouldn't be included as they really aren't one handed tools. Should have only been using one hand during the operation as well to really show the usage.

  • @martylucas8557

Come on guys, those larger saws are actual recip saws (just with a different form factor), they should be going against the Milwaukee M18 Fuel Sawzall, not Hackzall! Two completely different tools!! Definitely not apples to apples!

@@OZToolTalk I can see that. cheap (wood plastic) blades bend. hardened (metal) blades snap. On my old ryobi I took apart the holder before i realised that a neodymium magnet from a hard disk gets it out but also magnetises the holder. Then iron chips stick to it and fowl it up. Aghhhh. C-clip pliers seem to be the best option.

6:03 That lever is gonna be a b*tch to operate with gloves on. I think Makita nailed it, also because you can eject a hot blade without touching it. I have it on two of my saws and it becomes second nature in no time. Very nicely done and certainly faster than the lever system as well.
