Anyone have these set in traditional mode? Why philly style if there’s no tone arm? Also, it’s nice to have pitch fader close so you don’t have to go across the turntable
Badass controller but why does Rane only have the tempo slider in battle mode? There are House DJs (like myself) who would love a deck like this to manually mix House tunes together. Food for thought. Great review!
Great video as always. I’ve had these for about 3 months now. As a mobile DJ who does weddings I got these when I got lint on a needle as the couple’s first dance started 🤦🏾♂️. Only issue I have is I wish the USB and IEC ports were recessed. In a coffin case, it’s either you get one with extra room for cables or you have to mod the case. Only other annoying part is the hot cue pad. I’d prefer buttons like you say as they are tactile as opposed to the touch strip but that’s me being super picky. Wouldn’t go back to turntables ever.
I hope when they come out with a newer version of the RANE12s that its more of the classic tech 12 setup I mean start stop on the right pitch slider on the left there was no need to come out with battle style format cause there is no S arm in the way no needle to accidentally hit. So I would like to see the classic setup and and add a usb slot in the corner for those of us that like to use flash drive and not have to use it only with Serato. I think consumers should be able to choose which set up they want use Serato Traktor or just pop in your usb stick and go. Also be able to hook up to any mixer but not with usb connection hook up with phono cables and if possible a small screen to see bpm display like on the denon sc3900 had that small display the resolution was junk but im sure they can make it much better. Maybe its a dream to see all that but im sure it sould sell much better than the original..Wat ya think Blaze..
1CBRDUDE they are digital controllers so they will have a cleaner sound. I don’t mind the sound. If jazzy Jeff use a product. And thinks it is great. I also feel the same way. I like the rough sound of a turntable with a cartridge but this rane is everything we love about that set up without the headaches . Using them for 30 mins and then one hour this past summer I was hooked. I might get them next year for my Serato pro set up. And my TT for. Rekordbox set up
Let’s be honest, we are not buying vinyl and mixing with vinyl like we use to. Yeah sometimes I might play some of my records for nostalgia but 95% of the time I go straight to DVS. And personal I’ve spent the same money on needles and cartridges in my life to pay for two of these.
Yes it would be but remember that you can't play actual vinyl with this... Lots of House music mixers like to purchase actual vinyl for some tracks as well. Just keep that in mind. There are cheap alternative turntables that are really good like the Numark NTX1000 which is actually made by the same "mother-company" as this one...
Battle position seems silly on a turntable with no tonearm. It also puts the pitch in an award position for DJ's that do a lot of beat matching and blending.
Technics missed a trick here in the dz1200 deck, basically the same without the cdj LCD Display jog , I've seen modded technics dz1200 work just like this without need of software, this is fantastic but it's what the early technics cdj dz1200 could have been , this is very pricey and for that I would expect stand alone quality, I see DJ using them and ppl thought they was broken turntables without tone arm lol this was club in London uk
the technics sldz 1200 were made in 2005 when digital djing was still in its early days, i had a pair and loved them due to the vinyl feel, transitioning from vinyl to cd and back during mixes using the dzs and my mk5s felt seamless. very underrated dj cd player in my opinion.
@@MzkJnky80 I had a set of those too and loved them very much. Kinda upset i got rid of them but I got about $550 each when I sold the pair on ebay so I couldn't complain...
Hey great review, can i use this with any mixer with an usb port like on the Numark Scratch? Thank you kindly for any response in that matter... #teamrapprod
The twelves don't need a mixer with USB ports. you can plug these directly into the computer running serato and they will work. You can use this with an SL2 or Denon DS1 along with any mixer as long as you have USB ports free on your computer to support them all...
Either one... The 70 has better faders and the paddles for FX, but the Elite has bigger pads and is well built as well... It's a toss up but I would personally get the 70 over the Elite...
@@detroittrickster3327 I like real vinyl turntables better... Reloop all the way. The 7000 are probably my favorite right now as I wouldn't really use the motor-tone-play features or the MIDI controls as that is already on the mixer...
@@DJRemyP Not to speak for him, but it's really hard to replace record players for controller turntables. Especially, when you still play vinyl at gigs...
Just spent a lot of time and money hunting down like new condition 1200s. wishing I had digital capability now. Anyone know what Serrato I need for my 1200s? I have the classic technics mixer as well.
Do Rane Twelve turntables eliminate the fluttering BPM in the Serato DJ Pro software you get with using analogue Technics turntables & DVS control vinyl? If they do, does it even eliminate the fluttering BPM using a digital file ripped from vinyl? Thanks
I hear that it can work with any controller with enough in puts and serato pro but have seen not one video of it i know the rane mixers make the trio but cant afford it right now I have a roland dj 808 which has usb's on the back im curious if they would work or are they just for roland products ..and im wondering would they sync with the drum machine when you hit sync yes I said it it the sync buttonalso would they link with abelton with serato link just curious or are you riding the pitch controls like tecknics nd have to use a hub called rane ,roland and knowone knows serato says yes any ideas
So in order to make it work, you need the Roland DJ-808 and you may also need to purchase the serato DVS kit but I'm not sure... You plug the Twelves into any open USB port on your computer. It does not have to plug into a mixer or a controller via USB...
I just bought 2 pairs of those but the motor feel very heavy when spinning and it made it very hard to scratch. I switched the white button from Low to High and it still the same. I like the look of it, but it but the motor is way to spins to slow and it feels just heavy to scratch. i feel disappointed.
I have both setups. As soon as I got the 12s and wanted to do something different., I hooked them up DVS to my DJ 808. IT's a PnT conflict and they sound like sh*t ...esp when scratching. It's also another person in a FB group who tried with me...same results.
I’m thinking of selling my 1200s to get these. I just don’t like the dust that can build up in the needles, the drifting when mixing on DVS. The pitch fading is also not very accurate , it’s always tighter or more accurate on controllers
I love mine! Bought them this past summer and had the honor of jazzy jeff signing them for me at a gig! Thanks for the review!
Am Dj Cupid from Ghana, would love to learn from you
Man ..... if I would have seen this in 1990 when I started djing ...... it’s just so insane how far this has come in the last 10 years.
Thank you for the review. I’ll wait for Phase, use it with my turntable and still keep the ability to use DVS and vinyl.

I’m new to turntables, so what’s the difference between the classic mode and the high torque dvs?
Classic is Technics 1200 motor speed while the High Torque mimics the speed of the Super-OEM turntables that are even faster than the 1200 motor.
Price..?? Are they available on amazon
Did you find out the price or if they are available on Amazon? Let me know
