To get back to zero if you've instant doubled, hit SHIFT^ and then press 'SYNC' on the screen. Then the 0 point will = 0 again. Awesome video.
I know im asking randomly but does any of you know of a way to log back into an Instagram account..?
I was dumb lost the login password. I appreciate any assistance you can give me.
Awesome review, I'm loving my 1200LTD's with PHASE.
Thank you Terry for all your efforts and decisive personal and honest reviews, one in a million !
Me: Oh this is a cool product. I might buy it
*Looks at price*
Me: I'll just stick with my Technics for a little while more
Great review and video content as always. About the Instant Double feature in USB/Internal mode, the duplicated song is automatically put into Sync mode with the 1st song. I find this feature to be fantastic because with one touch I can slide the fader over and it's done. To disable the sync/copied BPM, just turn off the sync and it returns to the original BPM or where you have the pitch slider set. It takes some getting used to, but I love it now and wouldn't have it any other way. I hated the feel of the acrylic disc and switched to real vinyl with two spacers on each spindle and it felt better than my Technics 1200's. However, I put the factory discs back on for a while and they actually have a better grip than real vinyl when juggling beats. Now I'm spinning & grinning, but as you and Rob Swift mentioned, I learned the rules before learning how to break the rules! Keep up the great work, CT....
I was going to say this as well. Its how it works on controllers as well. You can also recenter the PITCH Fader by using SHIFT. In you example after you perform the INSTANT DOUBLE, adjust the PITCH FADER to the Normal Track Speed, Then Hold SHIFT and Return the fader to ZERO or any other Point.
Its an absolutely fantastic feature which i use all the time on Serato Controllers.
@@DJMarv69 I was crazy about this and just found yesterday there´s a Play Safety Mode - CTRL+F3 for Left Deck, CTRL+F8 for Right Deck, that also fixes sync and and play in normal bpm.
You should be a consultant for DJ equipment companies, I don't know why they keep overlooking some important basic features! I hate when costly things have flaws! This video was very thought out!
Coming from 1200s and also a DDJSZ2, they’re the perfect marriage. I just got mine 2 weeks ago, love them! No one who has done a review of these has stated that RCA mode will negate the screen and scroll knob on the 12s, at least it does when using a S9. Just so people know. Good review fo sho though.
These are nice and I commend your more than valiant effort - you truly are a superstar. Denon had this figured out almost 10 years ago. I wish they'd re-release the SC-3900's. The platters were smaller (9") but the performance was rock solid.
That's true, I've owned all those table top controllers since the 500 to the 3900, still have the 3900.. I was upset with denon after the product after platter wasn't spinning...
Great information and some really important things I needed to know bc I am aiming for the RANE TWELVES as my next setup
Truthfully Terry u keeps it Real 👍✊🏾🗣Straight up Blogger of the Year!!!!!!!! Congrats🎂🎂🎂Cake 4 you Bro.....
Thank you for the kind words.
So much in detail !
Thank you so much.
Greetings from Germany
I love my Rane 12 Mk2!!! Best decision ever. Great Review!
Just ordered mine
I've watched this review before at a time where I wasn't rich enough 😄 to afford this complete set. Now that I have revisited this review I think I am going to go with it instead of Rane One and Rev 7. Thanks.
Thank you for your honest reviews every single time!! MK2 is a must have for me
Great clip, and because it is quite expensive, I would anticipate 2 questions for ordinary users.
1. Can a party go with only the turntable and laptop?
2. How is it in a simple configuration, just him in a classic DJ mixer without effects?
The instant double issue has always been an annoyance with me. I usually have to use my mouse to move it around. I would love something like a shift button that while you press it down you can move the fader to where ever you want and then let go and re-engage it. This would be helpful when you want to stay in +/-8 mode to keep the precision of it but need to speed up or slow down past 8%.
Say you need to get to +12% then you could go up to 8, hold the shft button and move it to 0, let go of shift and move the pitch slider another 4%. It would solve all of these issues cuz it really sucks when your one slider is already at +8 and you instant double to it and realize you need to speed it up more.
People really dont know you can do the same thing with Numark V7s and a Numark Scratch mixer. Much cheaper but gets the job done. Great video on the Rane 12 bro. You always bring the goods.
Or the Denon Sc3900’s but marketing right lol
Good shout but the v7 is not Windows 11 compatible
I agree with you with the arcrlic. Still getting use to the feel or will change it to vinyl.
Thank you for that review. I'll definitely be buying them asap.
Your reviews are always the best among others I tell you
I like that the pitch works that way in USB mode, this was actually a huge gripe for me on the Denon 6000s--great to know as they'll be coming in soon!
Old post but I’m
Look at the 6000s or these which did you prefer
Great thorough review!!! I'm sold!!!
what did it for me was two major changes that made an already good piece of kit a great one and that was the introduction of RCA s meaning time code and the ability to use any mixer you want ..With USB only on the first it was best to use the Rane mixer it came with though you could still use another mixer but it meant allot of faff with wires and hubs so this made things better and gave you some flexibility in your choice of set up.The next great change was an official compatibility with two other dj platforms as well as an unofficial one .Along with some refinement like a little screen and a mark on the deck for scratch at a glance reference it really ticked all the most important boxes for me .As yet because of covid i have been unable to get this device but its on my list of buys for the new year.I knew the first time i saw these things originally introduced that i was seeing the future for many djs and not just scratchers.I grew up with turntables and though i had cdjs from Pioneer i kept my turntables and my vinyl.I loved the feel of a spinning platter and these give you the advances of the digital era but the feel of a full sized spinning deck.
Have you tried the Mk 1s? Because if you had your turntables, getting phase wouldn't be a bad option, and you can get acrylic discs as well.
@@tivathedj sadly no decent turntables here.I .have Pioneer mk3 cdjs and a Numark Scratch. My records are being looked after by a friend. The Mk2s will give me the flexibility i want with a choice of platforms and what ever mixer i want .No set up is perfect but two of those with a Rane Or Pioneer mixer for me would be pretty close.I think for me the acrylic doesnt feel right as i tried out the mk1s when they came out and that was one of the things i would change..I am not a fan of wireless gear so for me the MK2s are where its at for now.
@@DanielleKingdjdinosaur I have one of the OG MK1 next to a Reloop RP7000 MK2 turntable. The vinyl disc that came with the OG models, feels exactly like the Serato control vinyls so I'm alright with that. Also, I've heard that the trick for DVS on these MK 2 Twelves is to set it to Serato control tone and use it in Rekordbox. It "works" but there is drift, so I don't know if these might be "perfect" but they would be great with every other DJ platform, and "good enough" on Rekordbox.
@@tivathedj both the mk 1s and the new mk2s are great and if you have the mk1s ten wouldnt worry about upgrading again until theres a major change but on a purely personal level its the mk2s for me once i can get my hands on a pair to give them a bit of a test.
You can totally see the cross pollination across the whole inMusic umbrella. If Numark CDX had a baby with a Denon SCM you'd get the Twelve mk2
Review was helpful for me bc I have Rane Twelves and a 70. But I wanted to get another pair for the road once things open up and was undecided on do I get another pair of the original or MK2. The control address one of my major concerns with HID which was “when it works its great, but when it doesnt” lol.
Bro you are crazy!!! I enjoy all of your videos.
Just Got my 12/s today Bro your review was on point at 8:30 on the video time line DVS mode I was not happy until I watched this video again and switched it from USB I'm the REL Type of guy but I have to give Techs MKII there props with phaser and with Rane 70 They set the bar for DJ turntables back in the 70's and the performance is still just comfortable I'm going to try and run them side side so I can still rock with them But Rane did a great Job for all the reasons you mentioned. You what get a honest reviews on DJ Gear and Interviews even if he is late with getting done Terry Talks about other thing other don't talk about just like and hit his subscribe button you may just learn something I been a pro DJ since 1983 and you have to educate yourself even when you been in it as long as I have. Peace!
Thanks
thank you for your views! :) just start using Twelve now and feels good! most of part I agreed with you except acrylic part, I just consider it as different thing.. that's my thought anyway!
Awesome video Terry!
thank you for the video ! im still in doubt...im using the vestax pdx2000...they rock..but i want to upgrade to a Pioneer S11 and 12mk2's
Thanks Terry! ... a really good video! Greetings from germany
Nice video man, kudos.
Presumably this can work directly with an iPad running the Tracktor app ? (Without the need for a mixer /hardware)
Love mines, but the weight is pretty heavy and wish that the top had touch pads instead for cues.
Thanks for the most in depth breakdown I’ve seen. When you say they can work with anything do you mean like numark v7s can? Or do you need a mixer with a sound card? Was thinking about upgrading from my V7s for the larger platters but I use them with the X6 and can’t shell out for a new mixer (or DS1) at the same time.
love them. the only issue i have is the load knob being so close to the pitch fader. i just turned on "lock playing deck" in serato preferences after a few accidental loads.
Great overview. Definitely getting an MK12.
I would love to see a battle style version with two start and stop button
That would be cool
Hey Terry,
I enjoy your stuff and I like the way you analyse all the DJ gear with ALL the pros and cons. Now I’m struggling with a the decision between an ultrapitch TT and Phase or the Rane 12s mk2.
Most of the time I’m practicing skills like scratching and juggling. It’s a home setup and I don’t have ambitions to be flexible regarding to live gigs etc.
Which setup should I go with?
Thank you in advance and greetings from Germany ✌🏼
Still plenty of lack in these units. For what they cost, they should have motorized faders.
Hey Cleveland, happy b day man, you have been busy. congrats on the channel, Question: How does the layers work on these MKII? I notice it says deck 1,2,3,4? I would like to know more about that feature, using USB mode and RCA if you have a chance. Thank you for the content. cheers
Can Hardly wait til I get all new gear starting with Rane 12's and Rane70 Mixer and the whole shot// New Speakers and new Micorphones and new Lights and adding a DRY ICE MACHINE! yep.. gotta have it all.
If these are in a case then I’m guessing it’s required after every use they would need to be picked up out of the case to toggle the power down button?
Have you tried these in a non battle position? I like these but the labels/markings are obviously intended for that orientation, I prefer a standard placement with the pitch adjustment on my right and sliding it up & down as opposed to left to right when it's up top. maybe a quick video on that topic
Hoping for Rane Twelve Mk3 as standalone products without need for laptop.
I've been waiting for the Mk2 to be reviewed. It's sorta my dream future setup. I'm using the Numark ns7iii now.
Cleveland Thanks for the review, I was thinking about getting these but had a question. Currently I use an older Pioneer DJM 900 with the original audio jacks like on a technic 1200. If I got these would I be able to hook them up and use them just like those with Serato connecting them with normal audio cables to the input on my mixer?
I wish rane would bring out the mixer on the rane four on its own to pair it with this
Thanks Terry .... Pretty thorough review 👍🏾
Beginners question. I'm an old school DJ 20+ years ago and wanting to get back into it just for kicks. Wuz going to buy a couple 1200's, but i guess nobody does that anymore. If I were to buy 2 of these MK2's how do i get music without paying for a subscription. I have tons of MP3's.. How does this work? What Rane mixer do i use. Really trying to avoid a subscription since i'm just doing this for fun.
Excellent Review Mr .Terry peace
Thanks for the review. Been waiting since you started using them like ages ago. I've got the MK 1, and I've got the 'Vinyl' that came with it. And it feels exactly like my Serato control vinyl.
I've also switched out the Rane slipmats for Serato butterrugs.
I wanna get a second one, but because the second revision of the MK1 puts the switch at the bottom instead of the back...
Is there a cheaper version of a similar vinyl-style turntable? I would like to upgrade but the price is prohibitive … like these are $899 each, is there something in the $699 range?
This is a amazing product review. Cool! :)
Hi from Spain and Congrats on your great review! I would like to ask you about reliability... Based in your experience with them, is this Rane twelve MK2 an equipment reliable for long time? I ask the question because I have seen some people complaining about the motor ( the majority in the first Twelves version) but before invest the money is wise to get some professional guidance. Thanks in advance!
I bought the Rane twelve mk2s a month ago with the Rane 72 mk2. I had multiple issues with the twelves, I assume I just received a defective pair. But couldn't justify going through the whole return process and trying my luck with a second pair. I wanted to love them so much. One of the tables was off a good bit, if I mixed songs of the same BPM, one table would have to be at a higher pitch to match perfectly. If I put them both on a zero lock, with both songs at the same BPM, one table would steadily drift. It would only take about a minute and it would be unbearable listen to. I was extremely disappointed to say the least. I wanted this setup to work perfectly so badly. Luckily I had a sx3 controller to confirm I was not crazy about the drift or the bpm differences between the Rane Twelves. And I trouble shot this problem for days. YES, I calibrated the pitch control according to Rane support. still the same thing. I think the only way I could ever give these things another chance is if they were available in-store and I could open a new pair and use them in-store and confirm they work perfectly before purchasing them and taking home to install and use. But since that will probably never be the case, I guess I'll never know if the Twelves can be great. I just thought I'd share for those that think these are perfect. Mine were not. And I took a video of the issue to prove to my self and guitarcenter that there was indeed a severe problem with the pair I received. I pan back and forth from the (un touched tables) to the serato screen and you can visibly see the beats drift steadily until they get to the point you just want to scream. I may upload the video just for the sake of showing everyone that these do indeed have issues. Maybe I was the one and only person with these issues. Maybe not, who knows. But this was the one and only issue I've ever had with any DJ related gear I've ever purchased. So I guess it was just my time to burned is all
They are definitely not without issue.
Damn that's a nightmare.
If you could sir, Could you please go over what is midi mapplabel on the range 12 mk2?
Had you done this review a month ago, I probably wouldn't have sold mine. I was having issues with the DVS set up through Virtual DJ and everything was off.
Is it fixed now for VDJ.. ?
@@DjFrank3stacks I don’t think it was broken. I just didn’t understand it.
Agree with the slipmats comment. I actually put the Rane slip matts in a dj bag with 6 other slipmats, the Rane ones had permanent creases in them after one day, I've never seen that before. They are extremely sticky in use, it's like a workout using them. First thing anyone should do is replace the slipmats before using these tables.
Quindi a oggi in dvs usando recordbox gli hot cue e tutte le altre funzioni si vedono solo su pioneer s11 o anche il 72 mk2? Grazie
Can you review the denon sc6000m also; would like to see if they work with most softwares also; and how they handle
I discovered how to locate the power switch, it's in line with the 0 pitch marker
Good stuff man nice review 👍🏼
Great Review Brother!💯
Cleveland Terry what up
Can u recommend some good slip mats i just bought these turntables?
Love them but I think Rane really missed the boat with the DVS audio only output ,.. why not make them sound cards so if you happen not to be on a mixer with one built in you can use without your external card , would buy ... maybe mk3 or a firmware update 🤔
afer seeing this.. QUestion to all mobile DJS.. WOuld you buy Rane 12s and mixer or just buy Rev 7 because its more portable . I leaning on Rane 12s because I want to learn more about turntablism. I have had the NS7iii for 6 years and its dying.. YOu can see my dilemma
money not a factor....I've tried the Numark NVii and Pioneer DDJ 1000 SRT but I want spinning platters. I don't care about size (large) and want my unit to feel as close to Vinyl as possible. What would be your ideal "set-up" for $3000 or less?
I think if you have the 72 screen on the library view while scrolling with the twelve's knob it will react in the way you expect.
Yeah but that defeats the purpose of it activating on the fly like on the 72
Idk. I kinda still see it more of a feature. The 72 screen has controls closer. So if I'm looking there, I'm probably using those controls (they're closer). If I'm on the decks, the computer is visible. 🤷🏽♂️ Love the discussion CT.
Plus, aren't the buttons on the 72 touch sensitive? All this could probably be fixed via software update but I think it's all personal preferences.
After thinking about it more... I feel that the lack of a dedicated pitch bend button(s) are an oversight. They had them on my old ns7 and all the derivatives after. How do you personally deal with it short of the bank on the 72?
If I had 2 Rane twelves with a Rane trm56s mixer would I still need to buy a serato sl1 box/DJ pro to use these or is it built into the decks?
How do you use the rpm buttons to pitch blend? Mine does not not work anything you need to do?
Awesome review, I head the Rane twelves MK2 too and I have to say, the ON/OFF switch was the only reason why I send them back. I hope they revisit that and fix it.
Really that’s a silly reason to get rid of them I use a power strip to power my 70 and 12’s. Sounds like you had buyers remorse after the purchase. Not a issue with the power strip.
Thanks Bud...all the info I wanted 2 in the cart lol
Great Job Terry! Best, TrakWolf
Good review. I thought you like these more. I have 1200 and phase. But my turntables need mechanical help. I got the rane 12mk2. Because I also use rekorbox as well. I love them. You should try the high torque. It is the setting I am using now. The vinyl is weird. But I got use to it in a hour. The one thing I can say is I do not go to my lips at all when using the vinyl records that come wit it. I use both in hid mode and Rca with serato . I really did not see much of a different. There is something there but the majority of the people will to not notice. Performance is spot on. I have to check what you said about the BPM reset. I will try that this weekend. I think in the software you can do something about that. Let me get back to you. Beat juggling is real cool with these the words you use are at the spot you muscle memory see it (if that makes sense) I do hate where they put the on/off button. I don't know why they will do that. Lol. They are my go too decks from now on
So can you use dvs mode with rane twelves if you have a rane ttm56s (basic mixer)
Good review my brotha 👍 💯
can you use both mode dvs and usb with 2 laptops
great review. thanks dog!
Hmm ... This or Reloop RP8000?
I hated the slip-mats.... I use aluminum foil! No lie!!!! 😂 and I have 12inchSkinz (like 6 sets). The Rane slip-mats are tough to use, especially during the winter time when the turntable is a little cold.
Hey Terry,
Can I run the rane twelve Mk2 with pioneer Ddj sx3 ?
Is there reverse censor feature on the Rane mk2
No
@@ClevelandTerry thanks dang that’s a big draw back for me
Yes thanks for the advice you know your product to each equipment on and about djaying. But how much do they run a piece. from your main fan...DJ M1 STRAIGHT OUT OF FOXWORTH PRODUCTIONS.
Hit me back up on my response to let me know that i reached out to u.
How’s the no tone arm work? If I wanna go back to a cue point while using control vinyl I lift needle and place where I want it. How does this work?
You don’t have to do that. It sounds like you are an absolute mode. Turn it to relative and the whole world opens up.
How do we get the free phase slipmats? Couldn’t find anything online. Do I contact phase customer service directly?
Apparently they no longer have them.
Why put in battle mode as these do not have a needle,
Thanks for the great review. Just a question, will these work in only DVS mode with Traktor or will HID mode work in Traktor as well?
They work in both Midi and DVS modes in Traktor, according to Rane's website.
@@tivathedj that's great news... Thanks a mil
I think you're nit picking about the scroll browse button. I mean the display is already controlled by the knobs on the Rane 72 so why would I want to do it on the turntables. Doesn't make sense.
I’m a dj gear reviewer. There’s no such thing as nitpicking. To you it’s not a big deal, to someone else it might be a deal breaker.
@@ClevelandTerry That might be a deal breaker??? HaHaHa. Okay.
Just because you don’t agree doesn’t make what I said wrong. I’ve seen people reject products for far less.
@@ClevelandTerry I actually think your reviews are excellent so I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and digress. Cheers!!!
Sooo.. can you connect one to DDJ-1000?
Yooooo Cleveland whats good
Question is i use rekordbox so if i buy this set up will there be issues using usb setup?
Rekordbox will run via dvs. You’re good
@@ClevelandTerry but my cue points want show on the rane mk2 right?
@@ClevelandTerry also I’ooking to purchase a S11 so I should be good right?
No they won’t show up and you’re good with the s11. It’s a good match.
@@ClevelandTerry You think i should transition to serato just to get use of all functions right now im using xdj-xz with rekordbox?
Did you try the pioneer s11 mixer with range 12mk2
Yes. They work great with the s11
Can you use any mixer than rane
Great review!
Rane one or a pair of this with a rane 72???
Rane is finessing djs with the 12s. Inside them is too bare to justify the cost. They've essentially created an illusion of quality through having a heavy body when they would've shed some weight and made them more portable..
💯 By the way waiting on your rane one review... #teamrapprod
Dope Vid - But want to get away from a Laptop so Camped in the Denon 5kms and mixer
Can this add to the Rane One Controller
You could. Not sure why you’d want to
Just got mine a couple of weeks ago, and Im telling you, these things are the "sho-nuff"
The way instant doubles work in HID/USB mode, put me off in the mk1 version. Never had any experience with how it works in internal mode, so that was a disappointing surprise. The DVS mode is definitely my go-to mode, but the fork out another €850 per deck...no.
I assume you mean that they instant double with the BPM synced, but completely ignoring the pitch fader? I'm running the MK1 with a Reloop turntable, and I know the struggle.
@@tivathedj indeed.
