If you were to experiment with different types of cases you might find one that sufficiently redistributes the pressure of your hand while holding it, such that it won't trigger the malfunctions. It could also protect against further damage. It might also be easy to fix the problem by replacing that impact damaged trim. That might be the easiest thing to try, except using a prying tool in that area could easily worsen it. Ask a repair person with experience working on Samsung tablets for their opinion and have an experienced person work on it. Just be sure to back up your data first.. photos, etc.
LOL That's a dumb solution. Tell me what SuperAMOLED 10.5 screen can you buy on the cheap? On 2nd hand, it's the ultimate traveling enterteinament device for watching movies, UA-cam, etc.. Mr. T-klas we thank you... there's just more for us.
It's a battery connector problem. Open back panel, remove battery connector, wait a few minutes and then reconnect. Turn on the tab. Make sure to totally deplete the battery to 0%. When the tab automatically shuts off, try to turn it on, if it doesn't then it means battery is really empty. If it turns on it means there's still some charge left. keep turning on-off until battery is totally empty. Then remove the battery plug, wait and plug it back in. Now charge to 100% while keeping the tab switched off. Now turn on. Problem solved. This has nothing to do with motherboard. This problem existed since the very first Galaxy Tab 7.0 in 2010. The service center guys have no idea.
Erik Remoy It's been known since 2010. There are many threads on xda forum. The glitch is probably unrelated as I haven't faced that problem yet. Most likely due to the display/digitizer connector issue. Just remove the display/digitizer ribbon connectors from motherboard and clean with a toothbrush and isopropyl alcohol. If that doesn't fix it then it's a faulty component/firmware issue.
I purchased this tablet on ebay. This video is to show the seller what the tablet is doing. If I was daring, I would purchase a case opener tool and pop the back off. I would want to see if the screen cable is loose or if something is loose. However, I wouldn't want to ruin it by messing something up while the cover was off. Its seems obvious that it is a problem with the hardware.
dude just go to the developer options and on(tick) --- disabled hardware overlays(Always use GPU screen composition) And also change your book cover and charge samsung galaxy tab s with samsung original charger which we get in the box. This solution was helpful for me hope it works for you....
I have the same problem. First the screen gltiching, and a few weeks later the screen became yellowish, i sent it back to samsung customer service they say the problem was di charging port. They fixed it. But it works only for two days and it became severe. It starts to turned off completely. And i never used it again. It was back years ago and my device was 6 months old.
I've been getting a blinking black screen and soon resets itself. I did all solutions and still have the problem. I think my problem is a whole different level of flickering.
same its been 5 years and i still havent got a way of fixing it but only the progress i made is made it open atleast open it would be stuck on samsung and blink and when i was finally gonna work its optomiseing but always the screen blinks LIKE CRAZY when optomiseing and also it cannot be played with without being charged
Just happened on my galaxy tab s 8.4. Same thing, flicker then go dark. Sent to geek squad they said it was the motherboard. 275 bucks to fix it. Gonna order a mobo and try myself.
i think it's the autolock mechanism that is broken, when tabs detects smart covers it shuts the screen off or unlock it maybe thats the problem I'm not suee tho.
Hey I have the same problem, I purchase two Tabs one for my wife and myself and both have the same problem. When using the Tab the screen goes off, but the power is still on, I touch it, I shake it, I press the home button and nothing works and then the Tab's screen come on again, but it does not lock. just the screen goes and on.
Do you think it's a connector inside? Mine started doing something similar. Got mine as a refurb 3 weeks ago. 2 days ago it started and seemed to go away after a restart. Now it's back tonight. I gave it a little shake it seemed to fix it. I'm wondering if its a loose connection. Edit: You mention this at the end of the video. I suspect that's whats going on.
I am confident that it is a screen connector inside that attaches the screen to the motherboard inside. I would test that and verify for you but I returned this device and no longer have it.
It seems strange to me that the screen locks after the flicker. This makes me think that the android os sees the screen connect and disconnect, thus locking the screen after a new detection. Just speculation at this point though.
Nate Hancock Mine does the same with the screen lock. Shaking mine seems to fix it temporarily. I ordered a plastic pry tool. Will open it up and see if I can re-seat the connections. Unfortunately I can't find any tear down vids to help...
Travis Featherston I have found a video on youtube that shows how to take the back cover off and replace the battery. Perhaps this video could be useful to you to get you started. ua-cam.com/video/VnUEMyDs27I/v-deo.html I would do this myself but I may be able to return my tablet to the sender. Good luck. Keep me posted on what you find out.
Nate Hancock Thanks, I decided to just send it back since it's still in the 30 day warranty. I only have a few days left on the warranty so I don't want to risk it. Who knows what else may be wrong with it. I made a post to ifixit but it hasn't made any traction yet. You may want to keep an eye on it if you can't return yours. Link includes video : www.ifixit.com/Answers/View/231501/Screen+Flicker+On-Off.+Sometimes+drops+to+lock+screen.
I got a Digiland one 9 by 11 roughly same size it blinks like the poltergeist meets the twilight zone movie then crashes on the 100 check boot screen my nephew and niece wanted to play Minecraft pocket on it
I have the tab galexy s2 9.7 and i all so have the same problem like yours. what i have discovered that when i conect the tablet to a key pad i noticed it turns off as i tack it off the key pad it was ok but again at times the screen will flicker, yet i don't understand why this happens. The reasons why its switching off i have noticed there magnets inserted inside padding that holds the key pad up right and when the tablet is connected in the same direction of the magnet it makes connection on the right bottom corner of the tab s2. So tried by putting a magnet with my hand to see if it happens again and it did.Fore some reason it doesn't like magnetic fields, there's something inside the S tab that efects it. I hoped this has helped you. renbooth
