- Well, we're back at it again. We got to check out The Grove in Orlando for the first time and we share our full review with you. Is this a place that we enjoyed? Is it somewhere you and your family will appreciate? Watch all the way through to get the good and the bad of this resort just outside of Disney Property.
Best reviewer I’ve ever seen so relaxed and chilled
Thanks! We don't want to come off as insincere, so anytime we're reviewing something we are true to who we are as people. Thanks for the compliment!
This looks very family friendly: and you did an AMAZING job showing the resort. Thanks!!
With the exception of a few tiny bathing suits, it's very family friendly! Thanks for the compliment!
What a great video! I stayed here last minute with my kids last year and we absolutely loved it! I can’t wait to get back for a longer stay. The only little nuance that bothered me that you didn’t mention, so maybe it was fixed, was signage and way finding throughout the resort. It was almost non-existent and we got so lost trying to get places. Our room was close to the waterpark, which was nice, but it made for a looooooong walk to the main lobby, shops, and restaurant. Also, the water in the pools is heated but not in the splash pad, so my little ones hated that. I get it’s for sanitary reasons, but it’s where the small kids play so it’d be nice to have it heated as well.
Overall, I’ve recommended this resort to everyone I know, and so far two families I know have also stayed here and had glowing reviews.
PS - we never saw any bugs during our stay.
We're so happy you enjoyed your time there too! Now that you mention it, we don't remember seeing many signs either. I think Scott walked around before vlogging and sort of found where everything was before the rest of the family went out to discover everything the resort had to offer. We actually plan on going back this summer and hope the experience is even better than our first visit. Thank you for the great feedback!
It could have been that his room was on the ground floor, where ever we go we always ask for a high floor ❤️
Been there times. Twice on first floor, twice farther up.
We’ve never seen any bugs inside either
Great review thanks 🙏 the resort is still nice
Good to know! Thanks for the comment!
I absolutely enjoyed your review

Thank you so much for the honest review !!! Absolute great job describing everything & the tour of Resort!! Unfortunately the cockroaches was a deal breaker for me ! Love the honest review!
We understand. Wish we could say we’ve been more than once and it didn’t happen the second time, however this is the only time we’ve been.
Been here from northern MN the last 3 yrs. Really enjoy this resort!
We're so glad you enjoy it! It's definitely one of our top choices!
Great to see just an informative review ❤
Thank you! We just really want to make sure all the important stuff is covered, so if it was, we did our job. =)

@@TheNeverlanders The video made me a bit more excited to check out the resort tomorrow, since I’ve read a lot of bad reviews.
@@TheNeverlanders Does the resort have Disney + or Netflix? Or any chrome cast available?
Thanks for showing us around and not just talking
🤣 you’re welcome!
This was a very informative and helpful review video. We’ve just booked for the week of Christmas and we are very excited to try this resort. As this video is a year or so old, not sure if you will see this comment.. but if so, how did you find the traffic in the area. We’ve only stayed in this area once at Summer Bay and found the traffic to be pretty rough. I know traffic through-out Orlando is crazy, but just getting in and out of summer bay was a challenge. Just curious of your thoughts.
This location is a little north of where Summer Bay is. You can avoid Memorial Hwy altogether from The Grove. Anywhere you go on Disney property head north on Avalon Road, making a left on Western Way. This will take you the back way onto property. Our favorite way! Hope that helps, and enjoy your stay. Thanks for the comment!
@@TheNeverlanders thank you!!
We visiting the Disney parks this coming summer for the time ever with our family of 6. I am trying to decide between The Grove, Art of Animation or The Wilderness Cabin. I just watched your review of the Wilderness Cabin too. Did staying at the Grove outweigh the early access that staying at the Wilderness Cabin or Art of Animation can provide? They are all pricing about the same for the week that we will be there. Did you feel like you were compromising any of the Disney experience staying off property? I know you have stayed multiple places on and off, so I am super curious what you think is best. (I have 4 teenagers). Thanks for any insight on this vs. the Wilderness Cabin.
These are all great choices! But, if I were to have the choice and price was about the same, I’d stay on Disney property. We have never stayed at Art of Animation, but we have visited the hotel many times and with it being a skyliner hotel, it gives you great access to the parks and makes taking advantage of that early access so much easier. I mostly bring it up, because we LOVED The Cabins, but squeezing 4 teenagers in might be tricky because the bunk beds are not very big. The bonus is that the living space is large enough that having an alternate bed situation might be doable. The boat ride to Magic Kingdom is beautiful, and honestly, having direct access to the gate bypassing the TTC is worth it alone. The Cabins also have so much entertainment outside of just the parks, and the pool is more teenager friendly than the pool at Art of Animation. The biggest perk to staying at the Grove would probably by the sleeping arrangements for your teens and having that full size kitchen for meal times. Plus that pool is a lot of fun! Travel time to the parks is pretty low and makes it reasonable to take a break in the middle of the day and get back to a park for cooler evenings. I hope this helps and you have the best time with your family!
@@TheNeverlanders Thanks so much for such an incredibly thorough reply. That really helped a ton. Your videos have helped us a lot, too! Thanks for all the awesome reviews!
100 percent I agree attitude says a lot and it matters 10:23
It can make or break a trip for some!
I’m here now 😊
Woo hoo! Is the weather warm enough to enjoy the pools!? Have fun!
I am planning on staying here soon. Do you know if you cns access the water park prior to receiving your room? I know check in is at 4, so I am just trying to figure out if I could access the water park prior to that.
We wondered the same thing! Here’s what we found on their site…
Q: Are guests able to use the pools and resort amenities before check-in?
A: You are more than welcome to arrive early and if your room is available, our Front Desk Team will be able to check you in for an additional fee of $35 from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm based upon availability. This allows you access to enjoy our Surfari Water Park and The Springs Pools until your room is ready. If we do not have a room available upon your early arrival, we would be more than happy to store your luggage for you while you enjoy Valencia Restaurant, Element Lounge, Alfresco Market, and Escape Spa.
@@TheNeverlanders thank you so much. I appreciate it.
Roaches! Welp it’s a no for me. Thank you for your honest review!
We understand! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment!
Been there the last 5 years. Never had any bugs in the room.
Thank you for this great and thorough review of this property. We’re going to be there in three weeks and we couldn’t find a spot at our go-to location of Club Wyndham at Bonnet Creek so we choose this based on price and recommendation from a friend. Your review has helped me out that we probably made a good choice.
You didn’t comment on whether you made use of the free shuttles to various nearby parks or if you made use of any of the “pay per use” activities. If you did, could you comment on whether or not they were worth the extra cost?
The kids are really looking forward to the lazy river ride. Did you find getting hold of a tube to be difficult? Did you try any of the on-site restaurants?
Again, thanks for posting this (cockroach and all).
LOVE this comment!!! We did not use the free shuttles as we had our car with us and didn't want to rely on a shuttle system. The only pay per use activity the kids wanted to do was the surfing. By the time we got to the pool, they had already sold out for the day so I would recommend getting there early. There were plenty of tubes when we went. Several were just floating empty around the lazy river, but I would imagine that may be an issue on very crowded weekends. We did not get a chance to eat on site, but mostly because we ate prior to coming back to the resort. We hope you really enjoy staying there. We will definitely be going again!
@@TheNeverlanders We just got back from our stay at the The Grove. Your video was smack on, but I would like to share our experience. I honestly think that this is two different resorts in one -- there's the resort "outside" and the resort "inside". The outside is very well maintained and family friendly, staffed with friendly and helpful staff from the reception area to the restaurants to housekeeping. The inside (which is your suite) is dated, damaged, and defunct to varying levels. This is why I rated our stay there last week as just a 3 on the scale of 1 to 5.
Everything outdoors was great (we felt that the lazy river did need a cleaning) but the inside (in our room) had a long list of issues. We had two towel bars fall off, the dishwasher didn't work for the first three days (it took two maintenance visits to get going and still didn't clean the dishes), the screened in patio had a large hole in it which let in a couple of geckos, the mattresses were too soft and gave no back support, the dining table was very wobbly and two of the three bedrooms had no ceiling fans. On top of that, there was plaster and paint chipping off, one shower leaked, the floor was scuffed up badly and the furniture was missing knobs and stain was coming off. Basically it was very dated and showed years of use inside. This is likely due to the ownership model they have setup, but it's no excuse for treating your guests to this. The hallway carpets were dingy with stains and the walls needed to be re-painted. Many of the interior doors leading between wings or to the parking levels were damaged.
Obviously, we managed all of this during our stay (because who wants to spend time complaining to the front desk when that time could be spend poolside?) but it wasn't the luxurious experience we had hoped it would be. I guess we're a bit spoiled because I'm always comparing our stay at The Grove with our times at Club Wyndham Bonnet Creek but I honestly think that all of the accommodations are in need of a serious refresh. All of that said, and as you said in your review, if you can allow for these nuisance issues, you will have a good time here. Just spend most of your time outside instead of in.
Wow! Thank you for coming back and sharing your experience with us. From what I'm reading, it sounds like the unit you were in was not as maintained as the one we stayed in. What a bummer! Yes, I do an agree that there needs to be some upgrades all around but for the price and comfort we found it to be at par for our expectations. A lot like you, we definitely have our favorite resorts on Disney property that we would prefer to stay at, but sometimes that isn't an option. We have yet to stay at Club Wyndham, but may have to give it a go based on your review here. I'd be curious to know what you thought of the on-site restaurants if you got a chance to eat there. I hope overall you enjoyed your visit, Gecko and all! :)
@@TheNeverlanders I don't mean to make the resort out to be a rundown tourist trap or no better than a Super 8 motel off one of the Interstates -- the resort actually has a lot going for it from location and amenities to price and availability. The biggest issue really was the broken dishwasher. Some scuffs, stains, wobbly tables and loose towel bars does not ruin a vacation in any way shape or form, but having to do dishes for a family of six when you thought you were going to be able to just drop them in the dishwasher and go does not make for a happy Mom and Dad. It's just that the illusion of being on a resort is broken when you come face to face with these issues.
We didn't try any of the on-site restaurants because we were always out at night with the kids sight seeing (lots to do in Orlando than just Disney or Universal Parks). We had tropical drinks at the bar at Surfari and they were good (as they should be) and priced reasonably. We wanted to do a family pontoon boat ride, but the schedule just didn't work out for us.
I just want people to go in with the right expectations. I would stay there again.
you keep showing me all these nice resorts and ill never have time to visit them all :( Not sure how a hotel can dictate limits on the thermostat i do travel and ive never been in a hotel that did that. really enjoyed the vlog though till the end and there was no epic ending :)
Hilton's usually don't go past 65 in the south. Some of the Disney Resorts were holding people at 68. That sucked!
What time are the pools open until? Heading here in July
According to their website the pools opens at 10am and closes at 7pm on the weekdays and 8pm during the weekend. Thanks for watching!
Thinking about staying here in October! Did you have to pay a fee to park your vehicle on property?
Yes. Here a link to their FAQ’s. It may help answer any other questions you may have before your trip. Hope it’s an amazing visit! www.groveresortorlando.com/resort/faqs#
Thank you so much for the information!!
I always stay here and love it but lately
On fb people keep complaining about fire alarms going off a lot and reallt
Dirty hallways ? Was that the case
If that's happening it must just be recently. We didn't run into any loud noises or dirty hallways. Not to say things can't change, but we were incredibly impressed when we stayed. Hope that helps!
Thank you for this video! We are planning a trip in December and wanted to book here. After watching we have decided to keep looking at our options. The roaches are a hard pass for me, and some of the things you pointed out seemed like lazy oversights from the management.
We totally get it! If you haven't already, check out our resorts and hotels playlist. You might find what you're looking for in there! Wherever you stay, we hope it's an amazing trip!
Was the floors dirty at this place? I have a toddler. How much did parking cost? Any free foods?
The floors were clean during our visit. Having a toddler ourselves that’s always a concern! Parking was $25 a day and I don’t believe there was any free food. Check out their website as they frequently have specials and discounts going on to help with the cost of additional fees. Overall though, you can’t go wrong with this place in our opinion.
I was going here last year but I had to cancel it sadly but this year I’m going!
You'll have so much fun. I hope you have a great visit!
This was a good review. Not down with the roaches but seems like everything else seems to be good. I just would t want a roach to get into our luggage and we take it home.
Ugh! That would be a terrifying thing to see at home. For the record, none followed us home! 😁
I worked on the 14 the floor here , I had a baby boy named Justin
LOVED this! I would stay here. I'm with you on standards! The hole would definitely make me do a double take. The paper towels, toilet tissue...things of that nature...if we're staying for a week, I would go get my own. Simply because I like what I like. Especially with laundry detergent, and the allergies we have in my family. Resort fees, and parking will always ANNOY me! LOL LIE TO ME! Include that in the room rate, and let it be! I hate feeling nickel and dimed! But your opening pretty much had me sold; CLEAN! CLEAN! CLEAN!
We are really big fans of this place! With the exception of the few small things, it's definitely worth a visit!
Hope they have had a cleaning company in. I stayed last year in one of the condos really dirty rooms, ended up purchasing cleaning equipment 😢
Oh my gosh! That’s awful.
Is it possible to stay with more than 8 people in a 3 bedroom room?
I wouldn’t be surprised if you could comfortably fit 8 people in the 3 bedroom suite!
That wasn't a cricket. It's a Katydid! They do a mating dance that's fun to watch.
darn, sad I missed that!
Did the family like the amenities??
Yes! The kids especially did and have asked several times to go back!
what month is this ?
This was filmed in October. Still warm enough to enjoy the pools!

FYI German cockroaches are not a normal part of a Florida residence or hotel. Palmetto bugs are in and out of your house depending on your location. Palmetto bugs are huge, like 3 inches long huge. Those are German roaches in the video, they infest dirty homes and places just like in any other part of the country. I was thinking about staying here, but not anymore thanks to this video.
Thanks for the insight!
Yes! I’m from Florida and have stayed at dozens of hotels here and bugs are not normal. Not even in our homes with the proper pest control. We just stayed at this hotel this last weekend and thankfully didn’t find any bugs but unfortunately found the building itself very run down and unkept. The water park however is amazing!
Same.
They are very hard to get rid of too once they follow you home through your belongings.
Thank you!! I’m booked for Floriday’s next week but I am seriously considering canceling and booking the Grove instead.
Thanks again for the video. 😊
I’m not sure if you also saw our upload at Floridays as well, but I do think you would be happier at The Grove. Thanks for stopping by and saying hi. I hope your trip is so much fun and filled with lots of happy memories!
We just booked this for March now I’m worried about cockroaches 😬
I wouldn't worry too much about them! It can honestly happen anywhere in Florida. You're going to love it!
I didn't see any cockroaches there while we were there in February. We did have a couple of geckos visit our patio, but that was it. And my wife was tenacious about being on the lookout for roaches (she hates them). But when you're visiting a place that has signs everywhere warning you about alligators and snakes, what can you really do about wildlife? We once visited Orlando in May and the stupid "lovebugs" were EVERYWHERE. That was super annoying.
@@TheNeverlanders and my fear came true, roaches so we ended up leaving. It was SOOO busy that the cleaning maintenance couldn’t clean properly between room stays. Never again honestly. Grounds were great other then that no thank you.
@@I.like.Florida_123 Man that is such a bummer! We’ve gotten a few messages about bugs lately. Were you on a ground floor by any chance? I am so sorry this happened!
@@I.like.Florida_123 Not to sound rude or mean, but in Florida no matter how clean the hotels, parks, resorts are we have Roaches "palmetto Bugs" every where even if you don't see them. But sorry your trip was bad :(
Great review! but to note on the roaches.. those are German roaches not palmetto bugs, if you see one of those it means there are hundreds In the walls. Palmetto bugs are out in nature, big and ugly. The little skinny ones you filmed are signs of an infestation, be careful not to bring them back home or in your car.
Woah! Thanks for the insight. I would have definitely freaked out if I found one in our clothing unpacking. Yikes!
Pet friendly property?
Yes! We saw lots of dogs being walked with their humans! 😀
I love this resort but they have the worst restaurant for that reason I can't book there
Oh no! We've never tried it. That bad huh?
good review but I was a little concerned that your gun is 1) in the video in the first place (no need for showing that); 2) little children playing in that bedroom where the gun is on the dresser. I'm surprised no one else mentioned this. Never say it can't happen to you. Overall, the place looks like a good resort.
Excellent call out! Safety is incredibly important. If you go back you'll notice I am wearing a different shirt during the shots you are mentioning. At this time, I was the only one in the room and emptied the safe no the way out. There is no one else in the room during that scene. Tanktop/shirt/tanktop. Thank you for watching!
The freakin LUBER GRASSHOPPERS are STILL there uughhhhh
Really!? Those things are huge enough to not miss too!!!
