    Very cool, Handy Dad! I watched you at the overwhelmingly confusing weed killer counter at the hardware store and can now go home to order sedgehammer for my day lilies! Thank you!!

      It definitely worked for me, but the daylilies were definitely affected in the short term. They were back to normal the following season.

    Thanks for this. I had tried another product for nutsedge a couple of years ago, and while it didn't harm the daylily plant, the flowers in that area were rather deformed for the rest of the season.

      I will admit, after this video was published, the daylilies were stunted but they didn't die. They came back fine this year.

    Another option that I have found at hardware stores (not Lowe's/Home Depot) is Sedge Ender. It's active ingredient is sulfentrazone and seems to work well for me.

      Yes that will also kill nutsedge. But I don’t know if it will damage other plants.

      @@handydadtv Oh I agree. I've never tried it anywhere else.

    I have no lilies or sedgy things, but I still really enjoyed the video.

    Is there a generic version of sedgehammer? Whats the main ingredient?

      Prosedge is less expensive version sedgehammer. Have only used the latter and it works very well

    The name is cool, makes me think of the song Sledge Hammer, weird Al could have used that in a song. Anyway great info! I have this same issue.

    How do u kill invasive daylillies?! I pull them up and they just return. I would really like to get rid of these flowers they just keep multiplying. Please advise. Thank you.

    • @handydadtv

      Spray glyphosate on the leaves once a week until they are gone. If they're not dead in a month, you'll need to dig up the tubers.

    Sooo..... did it work or not? There's no conclusion on the video on whether or not the sedge died.... Are the daylilies still in good shape? Disclaimer said this video was at 14 days and sedge was yellowing but still alive. Can we get a conclusion on how long it took to actually die, and how many applications?

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  4 роки тому

      I did two applications to get all the nutsedge. The daylilies were a bit stunted but not dead. I’m expecting they will recover.

    Good. Now, maybe consider replacing your daylilies with something native. They are an invasive species in North America.

    • @handydadtv
      @handydadtv  2 роки тому

      Bamboo and English Ivy are invasive because they spread uncontrollably and are hard to kill. I wouldn’t consider daylilies as invasive.
