Please use wooden spoon for sweet and sauces cooking. If you wish for a variation to this godsay add black eyed beans also called lobia or moong dal instead of Channay ki dal. Your receipe is delicious, I made it and it turned out great. I am a Goan of Pakistan and we try all sorts of variations. We haven't given up our traditional Goan cooking but sometime it is a great help when we find you channel as you teach the proper method and share it with everyone. God bless u and keep you in his care.
Luciana l was so happy to read you are a Goan from Pakistan. My great great grand must have migrated to Karachi in the 17 centuary and have migrated elsewhere. I was born in Karachi in 1947 and soon after because of the partition my dad brought us to Mumbai via Goa. I was formerly a Britto cousin of the Olympic Hockey player Jack Britto. My mum never forgot Karachi and would keep lamenting that dad took her away from her loved ones.
Thank you , I remembered my young days, when I was staying with my grandmother, she used to prepare this godshe but nowdays nobody has the time to do these sweets .thank you for bringing back memories. I will surely try and revert back . God bless you
We made this yesterday and it is delicious. We used the instant pot instead of a pressure cooker (rice selection for 20 minutes). We increased the quantity of coconut milk by 200mL, added 3 tsps of sugar because we did not have authentic Goan sugarcane jaggery but did find something similar called "Goor" from the local Walmart store. We also increased the quantity of the palm jaggery by using two additional pyramids to get a slightly darker colour. We are very thankful L. Gonsalves! We will be trying your other recipes soon.
Exactly I want to make it in memory of her, my mom late she'll Fernandez cooked beautiful food and specially her beans curry and sweet was mind-blowing,
Was wanting this recepie since long.my mum used to make this for us when we got back from school in the evening. Oh so so long ago. Will def make this in her memory and for the grand kids..thanks

It’s nice to find an authentic Goan recipe, thank you. Could you let us know how to do the one, done during weddings too, which has a little runny consistency? 👍
We called it as Sweet Pongal in Tamilnadu, we use cow's or coconut milk.. And it is one pot recipe.. And we don't dry and cut.. Your recipes are also nice..
Loved the video, brought back memories of my grandmother preparing this dish with turmeric leaves adds flavor, (patha yo che pana - not sure of the spelling) Have you ever ground half of the rice and the dal and kept the other half for texture, after it is softened in the cooker, to cut down the cooking time?
Do you get Palm Jagery in the local market The gas should be medium / slow because it might get stuck in between, as we do in the open vessel. Suggest please

Hello liked ur presentation, could we add some nuts for crunch... When could it be done at what stage of the recipe preparation?
Thanks alot, if you add nuts it won't remain crunchy since the moisture will be absorbed by the nuts.
The best
Thank you

Goa black jaggery is not available here in Mumbai so can we add only the local jaggery. ?
Yeah you can add
Do you get Palm Jagery in the local market
The gas should be medium / slow because it might get stuck in between, as we do in the open vessel.

If your in goa you can buy the pyramid shape palm jaggery. You should keep it on medium flame and stir it continously.
Can you show Goan poee
