Worth mentioning when putting the wall plug in to make sure it is small enough diameter to tap through the hole and seat on the wall. If you leave the wall plug flush with the tile surface, when you screw in, the expansion of the screw in the hole can crack the tile(I speak from personal experience!)
Came here to say exactly this. Spot on, mate.
Came here to say exactly this. Spot on, mate.
Very very very good point.. it is attention to detail like that that separate pros...
I usually use masking tape to get started with a ceramic bit.
One of the best if not the best DIY chanels on the net ..... the way you present your videos is awesome .... no half hour video of rubbish just straight to the point ...... keep them coming but for me more plumbing videos pretty please 😂
Absolutely brilliant. Thanks for all the tips in this video. I have just followed them and put up a knife rack without damage to the expensive tiles.
Great tip about resting the battery on the tiles. In fact if you can do it so the battery rests on the grout line even better!
Very true!
Good video,I use the Bosch multi purpose blue bits, very tough. And an A4 envelope stuck just underneath the hole position with some masking tape catches all the dust👍.
Ohhhhh you genius!! Thank you for sharing that! 🙏 ✉️💌✉️
@ 😊
Great video, cheers mate 👍🏻
No problem 👍 thanks a lot!
Those Bosch 'masonry' bits are the pro multi-use bits which I've always used to drill holes in porcelain tiles. They barely blunt and have never cracked one in 10 years of using them. Quite a bit cheaper as well.
Another great and useful video Cameron 👍👍👍👍
I’ve always drilled a 6mm hole using a masonary drill bit , then I use a 7mm drill to just drill the tile depth
Tap 6mm plug in past the depth of tile and screw in screw ( use screw to tap plug in past tile depth )
I tape a small washer placing the center over where I want the hole and I use a masonry bit. The washer helps to keep the bit from sliding. Once you get it started you can remove the washer and keep drilling…and yes dipping the bit in water along the way. Slow and steady.
Well Done ,useful information buddy same as always 👏
Nice informative video. Quick and straightforward. Great work 👏
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you! see you in the next one.
Wish I knew this yesterday... Broke 3 carbide-tipped bits and melted another two... Just to make 6 holes!! 🙈
3:13 Great tips thank you 🎉
Would a 5.5 mm masonry bit be suitable after a 6 mm tile bit? I think it would be better to size down, but then again, I'm not a tiler and have only drilled tiles a couple of times.
Can i ask who did your tattoos? They are great.
useful video
Use slow speed on the drill to ensure bit doesn’t blunt especially on porcelain, rotary only
👍👍👍. Thanks Cameron
On ceramic tiles just make a small pilot dent with a bradawl first. Your drill bit will then never slip.
That’s what I’ve been doing for years and it works I drill it on standard mode not on hammer when your past the tile put on hammer.
That doesn't crack the title?
Thank you!!! Boss
Any chance of a video,on how to adjust a double glazed door.😊
best way i found is to use masking tape on a tile, mark and then drill slowly
How about dipping the drill bit in a candle for lubrication instead of water?
I usually have a spay bottle of water, also good for dust, and asbestos , just in case.
Which heavy-duty shelf you are using to keep the tools? Which one last long galvanized steel or metal?
That’s good but have you tried drill using a SDS? So I use a fresh Bosch 5.5mm bit on the drill function NEVER ON HAMMER DRILL and it works perfectly 😅😂
Thank you and like
Nice ink.
We use 6-7 cheap bits per job works lot cheaper than buying specialist bits
I've been doing DIY for over 45 years, I've always used a normal masonry drill bit, small size first then getting bigger, absolutely no cracked tiles.
Completely agree.
That does work for fine for ceramic tiles but not for porcelain.
Bosch multi drill bits blue tips will do porcelain no problem
Just did exactly this for shower screen insulation. Tiles were fine
@@matthew1nufc Rule of thumb is ceramic tiles for walls and porcelain for floor.

Where’s the link to win all the tools?! 😢
Why is spear point not mentioned ?
How do i know if my tile is ceramic or porcelain ?
The Bosch hex 9 HC will drill porcelain without cooling, 1st speed only
just learned my lesson… DO NOT BUY A CHEAP BIT. IT BREAKS
Angle grinder attachment
You're welcome
Just be careful and use a standard wall drill bit
Teach
Masking tape thats it
Massive fan of your vids mate but I don’t get this one. What’s wrong with the masking tape method most people use? You’ve massively over-complicated this. If it was badged as an alternative method using that guide (which seems ridiculous tbh) I’d get it. But it’s really not that hard to drill tiles, you certainly don’t need to start on an angle if you use masking tape to add the friction. Porcelain tiles fair enough.
Love your videos ,but please use safety glasses if you are showing DIY good practices
Preferred the older style.... Less polished and commercial. 😢
All you do is put three pieces of insulation tape on top of one another about 1.1/2 inches long then drill with a masonry bit thought it .I was embarrassed watching this video
