Great Danny Kaye fan as far as can remember. Watched his show every week, and movies many times. See video where his daughter Deena looked forward to seeing him and he was a caring and wonderful father
"What is marriage like?" - I almost thought he was going to say "Imagine a beautiful tropical island/Christmas tree........on fire." It was still hilarious!!! And I still can't stop geeking out over seeing two of my favorite comedians together! I didn't know they worked together!
That's what I've heard. The stories about Dick van Dyke's visit on the show alone testify to what you are remembering. Apparently Kaye felt threatened by van Dyke's skill and popularity and, in another sketch (a courtroom scene), switched their roles at the last minute because van Dyke was getting too many laughs during rehearsals. As a result, unlike this one, where the two of them go together beautifully as complete pros, that sketch didn't work at all. I will of course forever love Danny Kaye because I loved him as a child and never knew him in person. And van Dyke, who has the opposite reputation as a person, was of course at least as great and lovable a comedian. But I hope you will talk more about your memories here or elsewhere. You must have met many many interesting people working on the show, and as such a high-calibre artist your own story must be fascinating, too.
Such a shame if he was a difficult man to work with but not an uncommon condition for hugely talented people. Many famous and talented geniuses were like this. They strived for perfection always and expected that of others around them at all times and sometimes these demands would have been stressful and unrealistic on all concerned.

Amazing talent. Great entertainment🏆‼️
I adore both of them
I was one of the Earle Brown Singerd on Danny’s Show. Danny was a very difficult man to work with, very moody. We never knew what to expect.
