This is one of the two main songs tied to the great 1990 movie, “Pretty Woman”. Both the movie and the song are awesome!!
I was about to say that if Pretty Woman wins the movie poll, they will hear it.
Not a great movie, but a good “must watch” to understand pop culture. Song would have been great regardless.
@@tkmoore6057 Why you gotta talk mess about a hit movie?
Great movie..but 4 main songs actually
@@tkmoore6057 I personally don’t know anyone who doesn’t love the movie, “Pretty Woman”. It’s just a fun movie. I’ve probably seen it start to finish about 30 times. And I have great taste. 😃 Some of my favorite shows are, “Breaking Bad”, “Better Call Saul”, “The Handmaid’s Tale”, “Game of Thrones”, “Sopranos”, “Shameless”, and “Dexter” to name a few. I know they aren’t movies, but I just had to list them.
The singer Peter Cox is a really fantastic underrated vocalist
He has an amazing voice.
Glad you got around to Go West. Some other great songs are We Close Our Eyes, Don't Look Down, Call Me, Goodbye Girl. Peter Cox, the lead singer has a fantastic voice!
The ENTIRE album is KILLER❗❗❗😎💋
@@CurlieGrl Agreed!
I got hip to them because of Call Me
I love Goodbye Girl!
Their 4 albums are fantastic, especially Indian Summer and Bangs and Crashes. The King Is Dead is an incredible, underrated song - just like Peter Cox
Pretty Woman was released in 1990. VERY underrated band. HUEY LEWIS? REALLY? We Close Our Eyes, Call Me, Don't Look Down, Goodbye Girl, Missing Persons, What You Won't Do For Love, Crystal Ball, Glow, a GREAT cover of Tracks Of My Tears
Yes,Huey Kewis was awesome
Yeah, he does look kinda like Huey Lewis
Also "Faithful".
He looks like Joe Rogan with hair to me
Huey is way better. But their top song must be We Close Our Eyes.
If you haven't, you need to watch Pretty Women with Julia Roberts and Richard Gere. This song is used in this movie.
I was just going to say that 😂
These guys are like the British Hall & Oates! Very soulful pop. They were bigger in the UK, but they have amazing tunes! ❤
I love that!! British Hall and Oates, what a great call!!
Peter is great singing Blue Eyed Soul and Jazz. If you haven't done so yet, I'd encourage you to check out his solo releases.
@@kevinmoore2929 I have them! Huge fan!
It would be good to hear "We Close Our Eyes"
If y'all haven't watched Pretty woman yet,its a must!!❤❤
Peter Cox has one of the greatest voices of all time, to this day, live performances are off the charts with talent
In addition to my other comment. Peter Cox also has to be one of the most underrated Blue Eyed Soul singers ever! One of the best voices of that time.
"We Close Our Eyes" GO WEST
80s music if you leave unhappy after hearing 80s music that's your fault, the 80s was full of fun uplifting music 😂😂😂 like this tune 🎶🎶🎶🎶
Too much boring pop music in the 80's, but happy that you loved it.
80s music was the best, no doubt about it. I love all the genres of that decade.
This was 90's, though... 😉
@@themajicman745please casey Kasem please share your knowledge on all things music. I'm on pins and needles
@@clh35It's the most 80s sounding song of the 90s. It's technically made with 80s equipment and has its classic nusic arrangement. That's why people connect the song with the 80s. 90s were more Eurodance, Techno, Grunge, Brit Pop and Hip Hop.
Go West was one of my favorite 80's bands. We Close Our Eyes is classic. Don't Look Down is amazing. Peter Cox has one of the best voices in pop music. Would love to hear more!
Man I miss the 80's so much. Such a great time for those of us lucky enough to grow up during that time. Great music, great movies, great cartoons, just great things all around.
An awesome song! Great reaction!
Ohhhhh I LOVE this song and Go West!! Got so excited to see y'all reacting to this song! ❤🎉
Sooooooo good! This was playing overhead in the store and I'm just singing and dancing to it and around the corner I go to find a lovely lady singing and dancing to it too and, well, we sang and danced to it together! Right there, in the store, with everyone thinking we were crazy! Best time ever!
It's so good that Paul Rudd and Jimmy Fallon did a parody of this that was amazing!
Almost spot on lol... even though don't care for the jimmy fallon late show.
30 something years later and this song still puts a smile on my face. Awesome!
I love this song and have their album. I first heard it on Pretty Woman soundtrack
This was their biggest hit, but they had another one called "Faithful" that was awesome. Peter Cox is actually a pretty impressive vocalist, and people sometimes thought he was African American. He absolutely kills it in "Faithful", and also does a great cover of Bobby Caldwell's "What You Won't Do For Love", which was also covered by 2Pac.
Their biggest hit in the UK and Europe was We Close Our Eyes.
Love this band. This song and "Faithful" are my favorites.
"Indian Summer", the album this song and their cover of "What You Would Do for Love" are on is a great album.
@@aronjohnson2388I love that album! That one and their first are my favorites by them, but I’m a huge fan.
I love Faithful too!
spot on he actually reminds of Huey Lewis and the news
Yaaaaaay, glad you found Go West. Their first UK hit was We Close Our Eyes...... I think Amber might enjoy the video 😉😁. Peter Cox knows how to rock a white vest and a wrench😁
Go West's biggest U.S. chart hit. "The King Of Wishful Thinking" was their only single to chart in the Billboard Hot 100's Top 10, peaking @ #8 in 1990. My fav was their 1st single to chart in the U.S, a big dance club hit "We Close Our Eyes." "WCOE" peaked @ #5 on the Dance chart in 1985 but only got to #41 on the Hot 100.
May have peaked at #8, but this played on the radio nonstop for months!
“Call Me” was great, too!
I'm shocked that "We Close Our Eyes" never cracked the Billboard Top 40. I loved that song, also, and purchased the 45 back in '85.
Nice copy and paste from wiki douchebag.
An absolute classic from pretty woman...🌹
Great reaction! Since I don't think anyone has mentioned this yet, Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd did a shot-for-shot remake of this a few years ago. They did their own singing and it was fantastic! I'd like to throw out a suggestion for "Good Thing" by Fiine Young Cannibals for another turn of the decade bop. Keep it up y'all!
It was eerie how close they got it.
That's what I immediately thought of when I saw they listened to this song, LOL.
Their re-shoot of "You Spin Me Round" is hilarious, too. Paul Rudd steals the show! They also did Styx' "Too Much Time On My Hands" - CLASSIC stuff!
Yes, watching Fallon & Rudd's homage is a must!
This song takes me back to childhood. Pretty Woman was a big hit in 1990, great soundtrack.
Hair cut 100 ....love plus one
Yes!! Haircut 100's "Love Plus One". Then follow with "Favourite Shirts (Boy Meets Girl)" and "Fantastic Day"!! Funky Pop!
YES! Also their duet with Banana Rama "Ain't What You Do, It's The Way That You Do it." I loved their debut album, "Pelican West". I still play it a lot!
Oops! The Bananarama duet was Fun Boy Three! 😂
@surlechapeau I agree! Our responses were almost identical.
@@seanswinton6242 Fun Boy Three did that song with Bananarama. 40 years later, the memory can go, I know! :( . edit- "Really Saying Something" was the other Bananarama/Fun Boy Three song.
@@surlechapeau I'm the class of 84 that stuff was all over the place 👍
Go West is one of my all time favorite bands! This song was on the “Pretty Woman” soundtrack.
They’re a great band. Quite a few terrific songs!
From the movie Pretty Woman
This one got over-played on the radio imo, but I'm still a big fan of "We Close Our Eyes."
Faithful was another good one of theirs from the early 90s
We Close Our Eyes, good song.
YES!! Great reaction. This was from the “Pretty Woman” soundtrack. Y’all must watch add that to your film/movie reactions list.
They had a few big hits. We Close Our Eyes and Don't Look Down were both pretty big hits.
They also had a song on the “White Men Can’t Jump” Soundtrack called “Never Let Them See You Sweat”. Also another fav is the remake of a Bobby Caldwell classic “What You Won’t Do (Do For Love)” that is very good. Love Go West a favorite.❤
Nice one. This is a blast from the past. This is from 1990. Now you have to listen to "We Close Our Eyes" 1985, also their biggest hit..
I believe this song was at the beginning of the Julia Roberts movie Pretty Woman....Good lyrics....i can still sing to it...cool song
Yes. You’re right❤️
One of my favs
If I remember right this was a track in pretty woman
We Close Our Eyes, Call Me, Tracks of My Tears. . . ❤
Awww, thanks for your reaction you two. This one brings back a lot of memories. 1990 was one heck of a year. Just reminds me of an ex from so long ago.
In the UK, 1990 was all about acid house / rave music, and baggy jangle indie music. It was a strange year. 1991 was better for me, with grunge and rave music improving, and then from 1992 onwards, the emergence of excellent British guitar bands.
Others have said it.... you would love "We Close Our Eyes" from Go West.
Jay & Amber, "We Close Our Eyes" was their big hit in the UK!!
Their biggest hit
I would have thought this was their biggest hit because I have no idea wtf that is . I do know this song.
@@brianmcmaster5112 In the UK, this one only got to number 18, whereas We Close Our Eyes made top 10. Faithful was also a hit in 1993 reaching no. 13. It's fascinating to me that certain songs or bands did better in the US or better in the UK.
An underrated Go West song is Tell Me. One of my favorites. 😊
I haven't heard this in yrs. Loved it as a teenager. Omg!!!!! Forgot all about it
Thank u!!
This is from the Pretty Woman soundtrack. I hope you guys see it soon
I love this song by them
GREAT CHOICE GUYS! 'Love the Beat & Easy to Dance To' (circa American Bandstand) :) Great Strings & Horns too, for BOTH J & Amber!! Going to have to take a rest now, Guys! :)
Thanks so much for this review Jay and Amber ☺. Go West are fab. 'The King is Dead', 'Goodbye Girl', 'What You Won't Do for Love', 'Call Me' and Never Let 'em See you Sweat' are amongst my favourites. Their album 'Indian Summer' is sublime ♥.
This was a banging night club tune! Still on my playlist together with We Close Our Eyes.
Great song!
This is from Pretty Woman with Julia Roberts.
They had another hit that came before this one. It's called Call Me. It's the song that made me love this group.
Jimmy Fallon and Paul Rudd did a shot-for-shot remake of this video, with Rudd singing. It's fantastic. Definitely worth a watch.
I legit play this song every few weeks and have done for many many years. Its one of my favourite songs EVER!! Thanks for the reaction♥♥♥♥
This song is from the Pretty Woman soundtrack! You should check that movie out!
Nice reaction. Yup, I can hear some vocal similarity with Huey Lewis. Amber loves 2000s pop? Michelle Branch? Vanessa Carlton? Avril Lavigne? 😉 “We Close Our Eyes” was a great intro to Go West. “Eye To Eye” was my favorite, though. ✌🏽
Peter Cox (Lead singer) has one of the most distinctive blue eyed soul voices. Go West were compared to Hall and Oates when they released their first album. Check out their first hit "we close our eyes" or the cover of "what you won't do for love" ... or for a slower pace "The King is dead" which has a great double bass and piano in it.
Seen them live in Birmingham, England in 2016…they were JUST AS AMAZING! They sound EXACTLY the same🙏🏻♥️Loved Go West since I was a teen in the 80’s😎♥️
Yaaaaayy!!! Hell yes!! This reaction was flipping fantastic, seeing you both proper chair dancing, it’s 3am here in the Uk and I’m bopping away with you. Thanks to ya both 😀
This song is a constant on my playlists. Such a bop.. Like Amber said just a plain old hit of a Pop song. Classic 80s Pop 😉
Absolutely 100% correct… Go west and Huey Lewis and the News, were practically interchangeable in the music they produced. This is me aged 19 or 20 going through the heartache of several relationships. The best of times.
For 80's pop, you can't go wrong with XTC - King For a Day or Senses Working Overtime are great intro songs.
Finally some Go West! Their my British Hall & Oates of the 80's. "Don't Look Down," "Call Me'" "One Way Street" and "Goodbye Girl" are some must reactions.
YAY!!! YOU FINALLY PLAYED 2 OF MY 3 REQUESTS I'VE BEEN MAKING FOR THE LAST YEAR!! 1ST was Boy Meets Girl, the 2nd was this and the last is Level 42 Something about you. Thanks!!!
Peter Cox is an insanely underrated singer; equal parts gravel and velvet, mixing the two almost effortlessly. He is amazing live, even now.
If you noticed, just like the lyrics are about "cheating" yourself they continuosly play with "cheating" our perception of close/far, big/small, camera angles, etc. throughout the video. It's actually a pretty ingenious concept in relation to the song.
You all are the bright spot of my day! You make me smile! ♥️🌹
Go West should have been so much bigger in the US than they were- their music is so damned irresistably catchy! Definitely, you need to react to We Close our Eyes!!!
They knew they had a Great Chorus - - and they were Determined to get Every bit of Play they could out of it - - And they DID !!
I love go west very uplifting song and soooo great voice.
You two have the "BEST VIBES"... I love how open you both are to all genres of music...
Nothing is worse than watching you tubers do negative reactions to amazing music.. simply because they aren't versatile enough to appreciate it .
Thank you 💞🙏🏻🔥
Y'all were vibing out!! Love when y'all bop hard to a funk groove, stay blessed!!
You guys HAVE to do “Call Me” from 1985. Great cheesy 80s video and unbelievable bass line by the incredible Pino Palladino
Oh wow, I didn't know Pino played with Go West, cool! I know him from John Mayer Trio.
Great song. Love Go West! My all-time favorite of there's is "We Close our Eyes", hands down.
I remember having their debut album and playing my cassette on my 8 track player, with my cassette converter. My sister who passed away in 2007 kept asking me to play over the songs, “We close our eyes “ and “Call me “ Her boyfriend who she ended up marrying drove us down to the park and we danced around some benches… great memories of my closest sibling ❤
we close our eyes, was their best song
One of my all-time favorites. Great song!
Faithful, We Close Our Eyes and Don’t Look Down are bangers! Highly underrated duo in America.
68! and his voice is still awesome! Happy Birthday Mr Cox.
The both of you make me smile whenever I watch one of your reactions! In my old memory, Go West had another hit, not top 40, but very near at #41 in 1985. "We Close Our Eyes".
I had forgotten about this band. I love the song and he had a nice voice. The horns were really great too. I love at the end of the video with the kitchen sinks thrown in. I can see why he reminds you of Huey Lewis because of the dance moves but that's where the comparison ends for me. 💖💖
Great, very underrated band. Many other great songs like Call Me, We Close Our Eyes and Faithful. Hope to see more Go West reactions.
Always hit the dance floor to this one !
Went to Their live concert 2 weeks ago, One of the most underated bands of the 80s, Still bangin!
Saw them live at 80's Rewind fest in U.K. in 2016 and they sounded just as good! Great song, crowds love to sing along to this.
Always loved this song. Their song "We Close Our Eyes" is another good one.
Such a great song! This and Make Me Lose Control by Eric Carmen are fantastic examples of late 80s/early 90s pop.
What a bop!
We Close Our Eyes next, you'll love it!
I haven’t heard this song in forever!! Thank you for playing it!
This is an awesome song that always sounds good. I enjoy listening to this song anytime it plays on the radio.. Loved the reaction!
Their track We Close Our Eyes might be my favorite jam of the 80s. There's so much going on on that record.
Love this band. The first album is brilliant. The Bangs and Crashes album is all 12"s. Love it, too. Iwanna hear it from you, the kind is dead, From Baltimore to Paris and Little Ceasar are some of my favs from later albums. They are still going strong and are currently doing festivals and will be in tour with Wet Wet Wet, soon. Peter Cox has a great solo album out atm. Yep Superfan here. 😊
If you can find them on The Tube, Live gig from 1980s, Ball of confusion by the backing singers Carol Kenyon (the lady who sang on Temptation by Heaven 17) and Sylvia Mason Jones, is brilliant.
Early 90's summer, I recall hearing this one all over the radio.
I’ve seen Go West live in recent years and Peter Cox still is amazing…..in fact I’m seeing Go West and Wet Wet Wet together next year here in the U.K. Can’t wait! 😂🧡💚🧡💚
Singer is Mr Peter Cox. One of the best 80’s vocalists who together with his friend Richard Drummie is still performing and touring. Awesome band. Try “We Close Our Eyes”
*** I remember this as a really Fun song & it Still Is!
