i searched for this video 8 years ago and i was so nervous to start. i became really good and was promoted to supervisor and now i have moved to the engineering department and soon to be assistant chief. the hotel industry saved me in a way.
I have been a Houseman for the last year, currently in the process of trying to become Housekeeping Lead. The job of a houseman is difficult and stressful on some days, and very quiet and boring on other days. You are responsible for cleaning common areas such as lobby, pool, elevators, hallways, bathrooms. If the Housekeeper is running low on certain items in their cart you are responsible for restocking it. You have to help guests if they would like to have something delivered to their room, or if they need help to carry their luggage up to their room. You make sure that the guests pre-arrival requests listed on their reservation are completed by the time the guest checks in to the hotel. And you are also in charge of making sure guests check out on time and if they request for a late checkout you are the one to deliver the information to Front Desk as well as Housekeeping.
Overall, I enjoy the work I do, and I love the team that I work with. I want to be working at the hotel for long enough that I can take on leadership roles in the Housekeeping Department. I never would have pictured myself working in a hotel when I was younger but now that I'm here, I don't want to leave the industry. If you are applying to work in a hotel, it is a good environment to work in because for the most part every employee is hospitable, considering we are all hospitality employees
I hope they're paying you very good money for this. I only get $12.38 an hour no overtime. There's an inspector here who pretty much does everything from making the boards to cleaning rooms and everything in between and I'm making more money than her. So I really hope your position is somewhat of lucrative and meets cost of living.
@@conjunctionjunctionwhatsyo985 not really but it is what it is lmao
Housemen don’t clean Lobby that’s public area attendant responsibility!! Most hotels have pool attendants too so shouldn’t have to clean the pool either and housemen don’t take guest luggage up that’s bellmen’s !! They have different departments for a reason read your contract duties and not have them overwork u now vacuuming hallways , helping room attendants, stocking there
Carts , and cleaning the back hallway is housemen duties !!
I have been a housekeeper for a year and 4 months...but Sunday I started working as a houseman and i love it.
When you really get down to the nitty gritty, you'll definitely enjoy the ins and outs of the job!
I’m a public area attendant and love it
I want to work as a house person ( Hospitality) too but wanted to know where should i start
I'm happy for you bro..keep working hard and make that money!.....Love the videos
3months in as a houseman for Hilton, really like it so far
I start my house person position this 18th .. no experience, been a cleaner since forever. Nothing like this bt.. I think I'm gonna like it☺️
You gotta put “liquid spill powder” over the throw-up so it’s easier to clean up in dried out chunks without smearing it then spraying serprox over it, you may have to carpet shampoo it
I was only there for a week until i was fired. lol
@@AngelCasanovaTV ah snap thats wack.
Family time priceless!!!!
All worth the effort!!!
you know it!
Thanks for the video. I am considering this job and your video was helpful.
I’m a houseperson at my hotel.

+michael castillo I was a houseman on and off in 2015. After that I started doing deliveries with Papa Johns at the end of 2016. It can be a very demanding, gross, interesting job. But that’s what the job calls for! Hope it doesn’t stress you out much!! Just wasn’t for me!
