- We have been praising the Maruti Jimny for being the best enthusiast's SUV that you can buy. However, is that really the case? We pit the much talked about Jimny against the Hyundai Venue N Line, Volkswagen Taigun and Kia Seltos to see what SUV comes out on top as the best driver's SUV under 20 lakh. To make it more competitive, Shivank Bhatt and Karan Mathur get into a hot debate in the foothills of the Himalayas to give all these SUVs a proper shakedown test.

Bingo. I had Thar 2020 for 15000 kms. And then one day i drove jimny. 5 days later sold my Thar and bought a JIMNY AT. It is a car which can tick all boxes with 4 stars in every aspect. Not a 5 star in any aspect. But yes it is far better than other normal cars. Enjoying every drive of mine. 3500 kms + on my Jimny. 😎
But wan't the thar better in all aspects? Like power, I get that it doesn't have all the space or the fuel economy of a jimny, but isn't it stronger than jimny in every aspect?
@@gadgettrendsarkar2050 It is 4 star in all aspects like power, safety, space, utility and 5 star in comfort. In contrast Thar was 5 star in power, swag but safety wise 3 star due to fibre roof and comfort wise 2 star in front of jimny. You decide what you want - a comfortable off-road capable car 4* in all aspects or power and swag at the cost of comfort. In short Thar is weekend off road toy plus swag machine. Jimny is all rounder with comfort and without swag.

Yes. U r right. But only if you suffer from the traffic light drag racer syndrome. For lesser mortals jimny is better. And off-road a jimny can kick ass any day.

My favorite is Venue
I drove jimny and oboy I did fell in love with its ride and performance even being a non-turbo engine. Its AT torque converter is the best I have driven in the recent times.
What one needs to understand is that the jimny is for people who still enjoy mechanical watches, fountain pen, rugged boots and things with old school charm.
It's a bulletproof vehicle which can hold itself with the fortuners and land cruisers in terms of off roading and reliability for people like " meri 1000 rupees ki watch same time dikhati hai or 10 rs Reynolds bhi paper pay likhta hai" can go for hatch back with stilts
No matter what but Seltos has the best road presence in segment
70 years old . Have owned a Skoda Yeti for 10 years . Heart is set on the Jimny Manual Zeta which I would bargain with the latest year end offers and hope to get at 11.5 lakhs OTR (no frills, only third party insurance etc.) . Close my eyes and go for it ??? Would you suggest Zeta auto for me ??? Almost 80 % city driving only . Very very little off-roading .
Automatic will make more sense if you're going to be driving primarily in the city. Even off-road it's quite good since the AT version does virtually everything by itself.
Yes off-course, Zeta or alpha, but that should be Automatic, A great comfort for Traffic drives,specially Enthusiast of Your age Sir, I am also considering Jimny Alpha Automatic for My Father, He is 60 +

If you want jimny you need Mavericks advice "don't think, just do" Cause you don't need it but just wants it.... If you think about VFM then jimny doesn't make sense

What's the fuel efficiency of Seltos 1.5turbo DCT, comared to Taigun GT DSG ?
More or less similar. The Taigun returns close to 10-11km/l in city & 15km/l highway. The Kia is slightly thirstier, 9-10km/l (city) and 13-14km/l (highway).

It's not actually when you factor in it's got a solid axle at front, not in Thar and also it is available only in top 2 variants

18lakhs in which state? 😂😂 In West Bengal Siliguri I just booked the jimny for 13lkhs on road for the Alpha manual 2023 manufactured getting a discount of 1.5lkhs. Even without the discount the 2024manufactured models are selling for less than 15lkhs on road for the alpha manual .

What nonsense. Taigun and seltos is not the same. Yes. The engine performance is good on seltos, but it's stiff suspension and body roll is no where near the refinement of taigun.
Theres no bodyroll on Seltos and you sit quite low in Taigun aiding to its agility
There is a manual transmission in venue nline, go and do research.

The interiors remind us of the early 90s or if the commercial vehicles...except the touch screen.
There are other mid size SUVs around the same price which provide so much > value for money... Kia, creta, Volkswagen....etc.
Agreed that the purpose of Jimmy is incomparable with the quoted cars....but there has to be value for money also.
It's an old technology 'K' series Suzuki engine + basic interiors of 90s.....at a price of latest engines and top notch interiors from competition.
There's hardly any arm space for the driver and the navigator on either sides...
The current pricing of Jimmy will kill the product. . . . It will never see the numbers grow.

A product may definitely be fantastic, or even maybe perfect for that matter, but thats not the requirements for falling in love with the product
