SNL has a LONG history of having problems with Latinos. He is only the third Latino on the show and the other two had the least airtime ever. Melissa Villasenor was hilarious and under utilized.

Basta recordar los problemas que tuvo Pedro Pascal, cuando no lo contrataban, porque le decían que no se veía “lo suficientemente latino”. Incluso, cuando actuó en “Narcos”, le tiñeron de negro el pelo, para encajar mejor con el estereotipo latino que tienen en EEUU (cuando Pedro era niño tenía el pelo muy rubio, casi blanco). Él estuvo a punto de dejar su carrera de actor debido a esto.
Por lo que estoy leyendo, entre latinos de allá también existen esos prejuicios y estereotipos tan errados.
Los “latinos”, (en estricto rigor, los latinoamericanos) SOMOS MUY DIVERSOS: somos de piel blanca, morena, negra, de pelo rubio, castaño, negro, pelirrojo (liso, ondulado, crespo), altos y bajos de estatura.
Qué triste es leer aquí comentarios discriminatorios de algunos latinos hacia latinoamericanos (latinos) que no son morenos, o con rasgos indígenas.
That skit and in particular the "he just like to jump" line was one of my favourite lines in recent history of SNL.
I absolutely had to share it with all of my friends who work as teachers, they all know dozens of parents who say things like that.
It's a sketch not a skit.

@@cicalinarrot I worked in sketch comedy long ago. Call what the writers and performers are doing "skits" and you will get clocked in the head. The word skit implies frivolous and not well thought out. Sometimes, dictionary definitions do not suffice.

@@gmh471 Are we talking about the same show? The one where writers have to come out with ideas very quickly, actors (sometimes non-professional actors) have less than a week to study, read from a teleprompter and are allowed to break character, improvise and laugh?
"Skit" fits perfectly here. It wouldn't for some of the most complex bits or for digitl shorts but it surely does here and that's why it's very commonly use to talk about SNL with absolutely no mean intent.
Are they frivolous? Of course, with rare exceptions. Are they non-well-thought-of? Yes, in an absolute sense, not for their category.
I got choked up when he dedicated thanks to his Mom. He is definitely one of my favorite new cast members, he's so funny! Way to represent Miami to the fullest.
Marcello's mum seems so funny based purely on her facial expressions whenever they cut to her. What a great family!

This guy has so much confidence for someone just starting out in his career, and he seems like he's got a good head on his shoulders too. Seth's first time on a talk show was on Conan O'Brien's show, and it's really sweet to watch him do the same for another new SNL cast member, and I think Marcello has a long career ahead of him too,
it seems like Seth is the first talk show experience for many new SNL members. and I'm sure Seth is doing his best to make it a good memory.
Parents have been teaching Gen Z to have the "it" factor. But honestly they went a little overboard with it.

I love Marcello. As a Caribbean, I love that he brings the Caribbean flair to SNL.
The "defiantly bilingual" episode of SNL (as The Atlantic called it) was brilliant, perfecto, bound to be a classic! Bad Bunny turns out to be natural actor (as well as real easy on the eyes), and Marcello's scripts were hilarious. The sketches without subtitles didn't need them, though I re-watched them with closed caption just to get all the Spanish. Great work by SNL's costume and props people, as always (a live turkey and a llama!). Oh, and Marcello is just adorable -- great SNL casting addition. I look forward to more Spanish and Spanglish bits.

Ever since his 1st Weekend Update feature as José Suarez and the Chancleta bit (not mentioned in this interview but hugely funny as well), I was hooked and got my whole Cuban-American family hooked on him, including my 10 year-old nephew, who adorably started emulating his sketches, not to mention as an avid soccer player, after finding out Marcello had almost gone pro, my nephew found his new idol :)
I am a fan of SNL for years, but bringing Marcello to the equation has been so wonderful. He is so funny! 😂❤💯
I really love this comedian -- he really does have a hysterical sense of humor and for someone so young, he does seem to be relaxed and enjoying himself on SNL. Much respect! His skits with Pedro are awesome. I love his energy!
