@andrew at 1:21:50 you had a question about Beolab speakers with ferrite blocks on the power cables. The only speakers in B&O range that come like that are either Beolab 50's or Beolab 90's ;p Congrats to Wishbone for the new purchase!

Allegedly, it was a group discussion between various dealers/reps/publications/UA-camrs at Capital Audio Fest who claim to know the ins and outs of our business. A bunch of grown men who act like children on a playground telling stories when they know nothing, or they do know the truth, but it's better for them to join in the lies. As for the "colleague," he was more than willing to spread all the CAF gossip but not willing to name names. And why would he? There's no benefit for him to be _that_ truthful.

Hey Andrew, what you said today restored some of my faith in audio reviewers. Shame on the brand that couldn't take constructive criticism.
It must be frustrating to you because many UA-camrs do shill on this platform which perpetuates companies ability to try and manipulate creators.

i inherited my fathers Mcintosh amp and pre-amp from 1976 (mC2121 and C28) Like most old gear it was always giving me trouble even after several repair shop visits. I decided it was time for new gear and went to a high end stereo store to purchase new Mcintosh. the salesman did a blind test comparing LUXMAN. After several listening experiences of listening to both LUXMAN and McIntosh i left with the new LUXMAN gear! LUXMAN has a superior build but the sound is equal but different and better for my ears.

Love the channel do not want it to go away. You have both brought so much joy to my life. I replay your videos all the time. Once I was in the garden and there was an outtake where you guys stated the speaker needed the power of the F’ing sun. I dropped to the ground laughing.
But seriously it is easier to tear people down than build them up. The negative crowd is actually very small but very loud. For every one of them there’s ten or more that absolutely love what you do. I remember one livestream you talking about sponsorships and people complaining about that. Screw them. I was happy for you I knew you were making more money. I didn’t care about the keeps or whatever sponsor commercials and your real fans didn’t either. You have to learn to ignore this stuff. I know it hurts I’m a team lead and have had people tell others don’t join his team he and his people work to hard. I brushed it off and let the work speak for itself. Just like your channel you have done it your way and it has grown you can make a living off the hobby that once made you speaker poor. Dig down deep don’t get discouraged. Just do what you do best and you will be fine.
    I hope this helps.
    Sincerely,
    Scott O’Connor

Thanks! I posted a super thanks up on the Home theaters rock for music and movies, i wanted to send another thanks and bring it to newer thread :) This is a book but i wanted you to have all the details per discussed live.
Newbie here and you two have been such a help. Building our first “nice” system that will be movie, shows, gaming, sports sound for 83” LG C4 or G4 as well as for Hi fi audio listening to my first nice turn table (leaning debut carbon) and use Spotify stream and YT. Coming from an all in one record player for music and a 54” Vizio soundbar sub and rears combo for the rest so big upgrade for the wife and I 😅
I recently snagged a steal thru green thumb on(2) Klipsch 8000f ii based on your great review on them, a 504c ii center channel (still hope that was the right call on a center I’m not sold per my readings), and will eventually pick a sub (open to recommendations on the right sub choice but wasn’t sure I’d need one yet but betting we will) essentially building plan for a 3.1 system, 3.0 for now until I make that right sub decision.
After all your videos and recon I’m very stuck on rz30 vs rz50 vs marantz cinema 50 or one of their older SR line. I’ve even looked at the rz75 and Marantz 40 but it felt that mayyy be way overkill if that’s a thing. Yamaha is off the list as I want easy 😂 Sony or denon I haven’t done much recon on but not opposed. I Was trying to keep it simple but we know how that goes in this hobby. I’m not opposed to adding an amp either if I have the right direction. I know onkyo and klipsch claim a relationship.
I would love your receiver opinions for my setup! Most content out there starts as two channel wattage conversations and usually reviews head right into info with 5.x , 7.x, 11.x. So us 3.1 newbs are lost lol. I don’t quite know how much wattage loss there is when you only do 3.1 and how that math works so right amount of power is a question. Also open to thoughts on sub too! All going in our new remodeled open floor plan with vaulted ceilings. Tv and front speakers will be in a little 3/4 high wall nook if you will offset to the center of the vaulted ceiling and couch will be outside of that nook facing it.
Thank you for all you two do! Sorry for the book
    And merry bday Kristi!

If that’s too long and too much detail. Short question, what receiver would you get to power (2) 8000f ii and 504c in a 3.1 configuration for gaming and theatre and turn table hifi and steaming music. Would love a subwoofer recommendation as well if you have the time. Thank you!

Apologies for my delayed response. Congrats on taking the leap to a more immersive stereo and home theater experience. Between your AVR choices, I think Onkyo is the way to go. I would likely steer you towards the RZ30 for three reasons:
      1. It is the newer of the two models and benefits from a little extra know-how from the RZ50, not to mention software tweaks the Onkyo team has no-doubt learned over the past few years.
      2. For your loudspeakers, the marginal decrease in power compared to the RZ50 is negligible and won't affect your performance given your choice in loudspeakers.
      3. Dual subwoofer outputs that are independent which matters as you get deeper into the home theater hobby.
Simply put, the RZ30 is every bit as good as the RZ50 only it's more flexible and likely a better choice in 2024 and beyond.
As much as I love Marantz, and I do love the Cinema 50, the RZ30 is a better value and, roughly, just as easy to use plus it has better room correction in the form of DIRAC, which you don't have to pay extra for. I think DIRAC will spoil you and give you a sound, especially if you add a sub, that will keep you grinning ear-to-ear even with a 3.0/3.1 setup.
As for subs, I'm partial to SVS as they have been my go-to subwoofer for some time. Another favorite though has been Klipsch's RP like of subs, though I still think SVS is better (not to mention smaller). I think a single SB1000 or 2000 from SVS would be a good place to start. I prefer sealed subwoofers myself but if you want a bit more air movement and rumble potential, you may consider opting for the ported versions. The Klipsch RP subs are all ported so no worries on choosing one over the other there.
Hope this helps and apologies again for my late reply.
      -Andrew

@ this is amazing. No worries I’m just glad you found it! This was an amazing response and everyone I needed thank you so much. Rz30 it is. Do you feel that is ample power or will an amp need added down the road?
As for sub I’ve gotten away from rumbly typed as I find they didn’t to be challenging during movies, going off at weird times. I’m more of a snappy hard hit when it is meant to happen. Same with my music I listen to a lot of jazz, blues, older country, and lots of classic and older rock. I like my rhythm and lead guitar solos to have those mids you can feel but not too distorted by a a rumbly woofer of that makes sense. If you ever get into the consulting biz even if just a FaceTime session I’d be a customer! Appreciate you!
I’ve never done much with eq or anything like Dirac so I’m excited but also hoping to find guides for it :)

    • @bradshumate783
      @bradshumate783 15 днів тому

@ this has been beyond such a great help. I meant to come back on and thank you. I’m going to snag the rz30 in the next couple weeks.
I’ve been staring at svs site going back and forth on the 1000 vs the 2000 pro or bigger. I’m a snappy clean bass guy so sealed feels like the right route. . I just found from your sb17 video you just did that svs has a wireless module which is amazing. From your notes on that sb17 which was a great review now I’m wondering how I’ll figure out where the sub should go and getting the best out of the open floor plan we know have. And find out if I add a second sub can I use two wireless modules. This room is gonna be massive after the remodel with the open floor plan living room and kitchen and dining room and vaulted ceilings even tho our tv and music watching is in a specific corner of it so it’s going to be interesting.
I’m a bit worried I’ll be overwhelmed with dirac and the svs app and how they will work together plus managing placement and how to test all that.
Either way thank you so much.

    • @bradshumate783
      @bradshumate783 12 днів тому

Curious if I could swing the sb16 while it’s on sale is that a worthy upgrade or does it bake sense to stick with sb2000 pro and possibly add a second down the road?

In context of “aging out”…I had my kids over for Fathers Day. I had just finished putting together my dream stereo system. I convinced them to play DJ with Apple Music. They were blown away by the sound. It hit me that my 30 +/- years old kids had never heard a stereo like mine. They grew up on air buds/compressed streaming music. I quickly moved on to my album collection- they had no idea. My point is not only is the current market aging out but subsequent generations have had little exposure to stereo sound systems. (I pieced together an old amp (with Bluetooth) and couple speakers and and old Yamaha turntable - my daughter loves it! But the generations following Baby Boom & maybe X; but otherwise not so much are seemingly into music systems?

AVR sales have steadily declined since the end of Covid lockdowns. It does not look promising for our industry.

For the most part , McIntosh is relying upon independent service stations and fellows like myself that have Mcintosh service experience going back to the late sixties. If his philosophy continues ,McIntosh will be able to offer new categories of products with excellent performance at prices many more can afford. As a master tech with over fifty years of hi fi industry experience, it is my hope that once again, service and support by McIntosh will return to and exceed the quality of what was available from Mcintosh in the seventies and eighties !

Andrew, speaking of basing an opinion on something from 50 years ago, one of my aunt's could not believe that I paid money for my Jetta back in the 90's. She used to tell me, "isn't it the same thing as a bug from back in the 60s? It's just a VW."

Very similar to Sony purchasing Audeze. It may “suck” that our cult hero’s are now in the clutches of hyper-corporate douche bags, BUT at the very least they still have the opportunity to make the products we love. And even possibly create something absolutely incredible with a new vision.

3:00:48 brands can dip into more affordable price-points & wider demographics (eg JBL bluetooth speakers) it just all depends on 1)how successfully is the brand/product delivering on the expectation/reputation?
2)are they doing a cash-grab OR are they leaving customers feeling a high sense value & experience that maybe even exceeds expectations?
3)are the products too diluted OR are they an appetizer “gateway drug” that builds brand loyalty & encourages customers to spend more up the product/brand line later?

I didn't get to watch the stream live and had to come back here and there to watch the full stream. It's better for an audio company to get bought by another audio company than by private equity. Honestly, it's nice that Bose isn't publicly traded and not beholden to the whims of shareholders. Most investors invest in a company because they expect a return are aren't necessarily passionate about the industry of the company the shareholders invest in. Love my Sonus Faber Sonetto VIIIs and I have faith that Bose will let both brands have some autonomy. Hopefully Bose will keep the NYC House of Sound.

Missed the first part of this stream today. My deepest sympathy but wholehearted support to you both for all the behind the scenes negative crap that gets shovelled your way. My 2 cents is, one unfortunate effect (affect?) of social media today is this knee jerk negativey that people throw behind the veil of "involunerability" of texts and email, tick tok, etc. It is an unfortunate rumour mill that runs rampant.
Saying that, this is why I love and truly appreciate what you two do. You're upfront, honest, knowledgeable and do your homework. So while the haters and bull----ers get you down, always know that there are a lot more people here who stand behind you and all the great work you do for this community.
The 1 on 1 consultation you plan for next year? Whoo hoo!! 100% behind you guys! That will be awesome! Look forward to it and whatever else you need to do to keep yourself engaged and positive. I really love this channel and generally speaking, if someone says their views are independent, I’ll take them at their word. As an aside, if using UA-cam as PURELY a shopping guide, definitely take in multiple opinions. Not from a trust perspective, more from a taste point of view (ie everyone likes different things). Personally, I think these reviews are excellent entertainment and I’m extremely thankful for all the effort you put in. So sorry the presumably vocal minority are affecting your perception of how the rest of us enjoy your channel. Keep up the amazing work!

Guess I missed the stream, but if anyone happens to have any experience to share or opinion on the Waxwig DSP phono preamp, I'd greatly appreciate it. For the record, I know it converts analog to digital, but I honestly don't care. I just want my records to sound good and my mom recently passed away and I have her and my dad's old record collection, so the ability to overcome noise issues is a plus in my eyes.

Car audio is fascinating, pretty much all made by Harman. The speakers themselves are produced by ASK or PSS. They’re usually slightly higher quality than the stock system but tuned better with more power. The brand you buy doesn’t matter too much it’s down to how much the manufacturer will spending on speaker and amp quality

Just on a side note I know most people and maybe this channel are not fans of the WiiM amp & streamer. But what people have not noticed is that a lot of loved brands have been making there versions of their products. I am not a WiiM user but I totally understand why they are popular isn’t the M1 a better quality of their amps? Even people who couldn’t care less about getting amp have noticed there products. Isn’t this good for everyone as it gets people into audio with hope they will up date later down the road.

Greetings Andrew, first I must thank you & your wife for your unique, honesty & content.
However, on a different note: I'm now 63 & a X-Jaguar Tech. I owned a few Jag's during my lifetime. When Jaguar was sold to Ford a lot of changes were made that wasn't favourable to the original Jaguar lovers, especially the customers that was quite older than I was @ the time. When Jaguar first told us Tech's that they were entering the diesel engine spec we felt betrayed somewhat because it didn't suit the brand. Modern Jaguar is a imposter of what a Jaguar once represents. The original philosophy is none existence.
    Keep up the good work...🇯🇲🇯🇲🇬🇧👊🏾

I mean all in all Bose has really been killing it with their noise cancelling tech and wearables. I recently got a new Ioniq 5 with a factory Bose system that I was initially dismissive of. However after listening to it and making a few eq adjustments it’s really a great system.

      @ShaneTheGeek 20 днів тому

@@amazoidal I wonder if it has do with speaker placement and factory sound dampening between your Bolt and my Ioniq 5. My system has ample bass. I think I have my Bass setting on 3 or 4 out of 10, mid is plus 2 and treble plus 2. Just these minor tweaks has the Ioniq 5 system on par with the Infinity (JBL) system that was in my 2017 Sonata Limited Plug In Hybrid. My old Sonata Infinity system had more range as I had to do minus 2 or 3 treble, left mid/center alone and plus 2 bass, pushed balance forward by plus 2. I installed an aftermarket Kenwood/JBL system in my old 2011 Sonata and it in my opinion still tops both the factory Infinity and Bose systems but they are pretty close for doing no work.

curious to see how Bose McIntosh thing plays out. I was super skeptical when Masimo did their purchase of Marantz, B&W, etc. Thus far, we've seen some great releases come out. Do those just reflect stuff already in R&D pipeline, or do they reflect Masimo's commitment to respecting what each of the purchased brands brings to the table? Time will tell. Thinking similarly around Bose buying McIntosh.
