Some people on Facebook were asking about plucking vs cutting. Here's a link to a long term study on Mt. Hood in an area off limits to the public where they found no difference in the two practices. Cutting can help the dirt stay out of your bag though! oregondiscovery.com/mushroom-harvesting-techniques

"It concluded that yields in the cut plots decreased over time while the yields in plots harvested by pulling mushrooms out increased during the study period. However, another comprehensive study that has been conducted for more than 30 years showed no difference in yields of mushrooms harvested by either cutting or pulling"

Awesome video! Great information and I love that you, your wife, and doggy enjoy mushroom hunting together. That's the best part about mushroom hunting.

So true. I should get more with my dog. She's 11 so she's getting a little old for tromping through the forest. She has found many mushrooms in her day though! I also find it motherly how she will keep track of each person in the group bouncing back and forth between us.
