My aunt had a little green house like that and she not only started and cared for plants in there , she moved an antique chaise lounge in so she could drink tea, read a book and nap with her cat. lol.
I rent a house from 1969 and it has so many similar features! the same thermostat, wood paneling, wood cupboards, white counters with a built-in glass cooktop, bulit-in paper towel holder, etc. very cool to see
That covered porch and that greenhouse have so much potential, as does the rest of the house but those rooms look so special to me, especially the greenhouse. I know that curved glass will look magical during rainy days✨ congrats on the house
@@jamandgreentea ooooh yes!!! More of the glass broke recently so it’s very sad all taped and wrapped up in plastic, I can’t wait to fix it up and watch the rain!
wow!! what a beautiful house i'm very envious! That greenhouse is gorgeous, the fact it's attached to the house is a dream!! You could definitely grow your own food there
congratulations! it's humbling what this generation appreciates in a home, we're asking for the basic necessities, and also infuriating how much we're expected to spend of homes that are hazardous
i saw a museum called Västernorrlands museum recreate a 50s floor similar to yours using modern linoleum carpet cut into tiles and glued in a pattern. I think the brand they used was gerflor linoleum. Just a tip if you wanted to recreate the downstairs floor without asbestos! Congrats on the amazing house
Wow! What a great place you found. This is the first time I've come across your channel, and I already know I'm going to love seeing you fix this place up. I'm actually from Maryland, living overseas now, so it was great to see a bit of home, especially since this place is a lot like my grandparents' house in DE. With those plywood cabinets and that wallpaper, your kitchen looks like my grandmother's. I also really appreciate that you want to keep so many original details ❤
Congrats on the beautiful new home, such good vibes and endless potential! The birds and frogs in the background throughout the whole video gave such a good sense of the place; so excited for this journey for you.
@@roselynschaotichouse3539 We found our house through a friend who knew the homeowners so we were able to get a head start on other folks. I think it helped when they got multiple offers. I'm glad we were house hunting in 2012, in between the bubbles. Prices are so out of reach now its nuts.
Congratulations! What a cool house! Can’t wait to see all of the beautiful things you guys do with it! Maybe one of you could have on office in the downstairs area and still have a guest bedroom? ❤❤❤
I just subscribed to your channel😊 when I looked for recently new to me, you came up❤The house is gorgeous. There are no coincidences. This house was just waiting for you and you are blessed. The Lord let the way to it🙏I am 73 and I’ve always been interested in this style, especially living in Massachusetts my whole life❤at your age I would’ve bought the same exact home .. we could be kindred spirits. I cannot wait to see, how this journey unfolds. Blessings from Massachusetts from me and Otis.🐶
congrats, the place is super cool! the soil looks like its very heavy clay soil, which might make your tree have a hard time spreading its roots passed its initial dirtball. you might want to dig an extra foot around the tree and mix some looser soil into the clay to give the tree a buffer where its roots can toughen up a little bit before they penetrate into the full clay. also, removing the asbestos tile is fairly safe! the major concern w/ asbestos back in the day was that the people who worked in factories producing asbestos products were exposed constantly, but if you wear masks, a one-time removal will be totally fine. good luck with everything!
Bout to move back to MD and I know we're gonna end up way way out in the sticks and it's gonna cost too dang much. Good idea to just start stalking abandoned houses.
