RED FLAG CITY! This shop owner is wayyyy to enthusiastic on the green Chevelle. Good luck to that owner not having swapped out frame, suspension parts Your 70 Chevelle is at the wrong shop. I've been restoring cars for 50 years this guy is a red flag
Should be given the minimum paint repair to revive it, clean and detail it out. It’s a survivor car. If you’re going to make a total resto mod, why do you need to hack a survivor?
I recently purchased a 64 Corvair Monza Coupe. Body is in great shape, some minor surface rust. Rockers in great shape. Front bumper is in great shape, no dents, dings, does have some rust on that. Undercarriage is very dirty, was driven on gravel roads for a lot of its life, typical Midwest surface rust on everything, passenger rear lift point is the only part that stunk, did have some rot but nothing that would be considered too far gone. Needs the brake system completely gone through. 0 brake pedal! Excited to dig into the project.
I lap welded the quarters on my GTO. I made a seam so it wasn’t a typical overlap. As long as it’s prepped right and sealed properly, shouldn’t have any problems. It’s been over 30 years and still fine.
First time viewer. Really enjoyed you pointing out things on these vintage cars, but also your faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Not alot of YT folks that "openly" proclaim their allegiance to Christ.
That's a shame. Absolutely nothing wrong with being open with your faith. Too many folk just want to talk and not listen, if we all listen to each other regardless of beliefs, we may make this world a better place.
I'm a first time viewer as well and I have a relationship with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I'm also a gear head, this is a great channel I just subscribed.
There should be no shame in sharing your faith with the world. If they don't agree that's ok, they can just tune out. But we however shall not be afraid to make videos of two things we love dearly. God and Hotrods.
First time I have seen this channel, I'm a big-time car/truck guy, loved the video! So glad to hear you share the Gospel, that's what it's all about, advancing God's kingdom! thanks again, and keep sharing, life is short, and we all will spend eternity somewhere!!
Amen my dear brother in Christ! Im so glad I ran across your channel! I too am absolutely crazy about JESUS!! This video really blessed my heart and as a business owner for heating and air I run my business with integrity and honesty as well. Thank you for all you do and I love those beautiful cars! GOD bless you in JESUS NAME! sincerely, Jamie
I love these old cars especially the '70 Chevelle and that's why I clicked on the video.. but what a blessing to hear what you had to say at the end!! Thank you brother, I love Jesus and he is #1!! God Bless you!
Wow. Talk about a sign from God. Me and my dad are opening a shop and I was thinking to myself how I want to make body work videos but incorporate God into them as well. Then without knowing, my dad sends me this video. He had no idea that was my plan. Praise God.
That is awesome, can't wait to see what you create, be sure to send us a link at info@studiohotrods.com. We'd love to do nothing but support. God Bless.
I really like your show , I am interested in purchasing a classic car , everyone I have looked at is a patch job , THANKS for the lesson , good to see a Christian !
I purchased a classic car sight unseen this past August. I’m from Massachusetts and purchased the car from Georgia. Thankfully, it turned out ok, but there were some things I wasn’t told. I was told “The car needs nothing, I’d take it up the next state’s car show ; there and back no problem”. I hired an independent appraiser who said the car was good. When I got it, had a minor rear main seal leak, steering links were completely shot, rear shocks completely shot, carb needed rebuilt as it stalled, heater core leaking, dash lights didn’t work, steering gearbox needed to be replaced, and some minor things here and there. Not the end all be all but I did have to throw in about another 4 grand to get it to where it needed to be. Also, I don’t go to church and haven’t been in years but I’m most definitely a believer and carry the lord in my heart everyday and I talk to him everyday. Thankful for everything he has blessed me with. Just needed to say that and thank you too.
Came here for the car restoration, subscribed for the last segment. I was saved Oct 12, 1982 and that completely changed my life. Keep up the good work!
Congratulations! The lord speaks to us in many ways and uses people and / or situations as a conduit for his message. I don't have the date but I remember distinctly the moment I relinquished my life to Christ. It's been one blessing after another for almost 40 years❤

A friend bought a '69 Camaro SS from a car lot but they "lost" the trunk key. He bought it anyway and when they got the trunk open you could see the ground! He still had it restored replacing most of the body sheet metal and he still owns it 20 years later!

The lap joint might not be the best option but given that you still have part of the original quarter vs a new quarter stamped in China, I'm not sure the tradeoff is all that bad considering you had to blast the car to figure it out.
Im sure Jesus would drive a muscle car if he were physically present today. Nice video , in my case im redoing a GTO using what knowledge i have. Every time we lose a survivor it's another piece of history gone. We criticize younger generations for getting suckered into bad cars but if they no longer have reference points to judge with they can't be blamed.
Luckily my '69 AMX is still original, for the most part. The 390 has been gone through; it's got forged pistons and an Offenhauser intake manifold with an Edelbrock 1405 carb. It feels as though it has a mild cam. Original radiator and distributor.
I like the 69-72 Chevelle. Idk if I like a 69 or 70 better but between those two are my favorite. As far as building the green one I think it's an awesome car like it is of course it's wow it's great like the guy said but it's his car now and if he wants to make a Grade A build car that's gonna be really spectacular I can see why he'd want to start with a great car like that one. The paint wasn't perfect so in the end everyone wins including the car itself. It will be bought for a pile of cash and owned by someone who will love it and take great care of it and show it off for others to enjoy at car shows and stuff like that. So I don't think it's a bad thing at all restoring a car like that. Just throwing on a paint job and calling it done would take away from it's originality and it needed paint to be all that so this is my argument for all the comments about the green 70. I just hope the guy who buys it doesn't just drain the fluids and stick it in his collection of other cars that never see daylight. There again tho rich people can do what they want. I would like to see some miles put on it. What a great car I'm sure it's gonna have a great life. When I get my Lincoln paid off I'm gonna get a 69 or 70 Chevelle which ever I come across maybe even a Cutlass or Skylark. Yep gotta have an A body.
That spectacular Chevelle would be a normal original Southern car down here in the South. You need to do your shopping down here. I like what your doing, have subscribed!
I do have a guy who tends to travel down south for me. So if you ever see any nice A Bodies, please email us at info@studiohotrods.com. Thanks for subscribing
I wouldn’t go that far, these cars are over a half century old these days and there’s few and far between that are in the green 70’s condition mostly original without rust or crash damage. That black 69 looks like one that was on ebay several weeks ago and didn’t meet reserve. Most of the issues pointed out were fairly superficial other than the quarter panel repairs. I guess it all depends on what the car is represented as and for what price. The Chevelles on marketplace in central Alabama are getting ridiculous prices for cars that are almost total junk, I’d imagine that black 69 would sell pretty high in this area with those flaws noted. Naturally, the vast majority of average working people are looking for week end cruisers and possibly local car shows, not uber expensive restored originals or restomods that only the very well off are able to afford.
The 69 Chevelle is a good driver for most of us. My Chevelle has terrible gaps , runs in the paint, and not so perfect throughout but I’m a rolling car show when I take it out with thumbs up and many compliments. I would think owning a restoration shop those repairs would be minimal, any back yard mechanic could fix it up and be proud.
The black one doesn't look so bad... if the price is right. It could still be made into a nice driver-quality build, as long as the body is acceptable with a little work. It was probably done many years ago. Most of those repairs were typical and acceptable for the day. You didn't mention if there was any frame collision damage... possibly related to the missing bolts on the inner fender. There may some frame misalignment here as well, looking at that front bumper.
Not enough of it being represented online these days either, so glad to share the good word with fellow believers and very grateful for your comment. God Bless and hope to see ya next week
How many cars will be left to build in a few more years?? People are paying big money just for the VIN and firewall they want, sometimes the entire rest of the car is absolute junk. With so many people searching daily, I can't see anything being left out there soon.
You are the man my friend. Your honesty will bring you more business then you can imagine. Then you add Christ into the picture, If I ever do buy a Chevelle ss I will call you up my friend. Thanks for your salvation speech. New subscriber..
If I may: I see so many comments knocking the dismantaling the 1970 green.. They made nearly 300K with v8's this year if my investigation is correct. These car were all over the place back then. It was probably the second best selling car that year.. The Galaxie was #1 - I think. Remember, he's going over what they're looking for when purchasing Chevelle's for their 3-year, 36,000 mile warranty backed builds. That's quite a gamble if it's not the right chassis. P.S. I can do all things through Christ.
While you're at it make a trip to the bubbler. Lol I learned that on my one trip to Wisconsin about 20 years ago I am from PA. I say do whatever you want to these cars it's your shop
I worked in an exhaust shop in the 1990s a guy brought in a 58 Pontiac that the floor was held in place with pop rivets, the car looked perfect but once in the air you could see the rivets and the poor fish plating on the frame,we were suprised it didn’t bend when he went around corners
Wow, really cool. In depth on your decision-making. Love the classic car and all the upgrades and passion you guys have. Also love the revelations and share the word of God although I would say one thing that didn’t really go over so well in my spirit was you didn’t really promote church and said you didn’t like some of the things that Christians do and so your Bible reading and faith and walk in Christ is Awesome being around people who aren’t making the best decisions in the Christianity is what God‘s word says to be amongst the people in his house. You could be a good influence to them as they change their ways and if they don’t move on.
I’m gonna pray about your response, thank you for the encouragement and you’re right in the Bible It says that we are supposed to help brothers and sisters even in the struggles… one of the things I don’t like about many churches is there money based and they will dilute the truth rather than stand on the rock I go to a great church that I love very much. It’s called the Chapel located in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin… Harry
I am sure he would sell you the green car before he touchs it, for what it would sell for after he turned in into an "A" car, this way you can rescue it. That Green car will make a good candidate to be totally rip apart and turned into SS 454, with a 454 not a LS3 or 4, any hack can throw one of those in. The Black one would also, it would just take some extra work. If you are not good enough to turn the black one into an "A" car then you need to practice more.
They're only original once. I restore old Honda Z50's and CT70's. I never buy bikes that have been repainted. Even if the original paint isn't perfect, they are still worth more (at least to me) than a repainted one.
Thank you for the encouragement. The word of God never comes back void and it’s awesome to get to share some of the things I’m passionate about in my life. Jesus is number one, but I sure do love the cars. Harry
Yes, you are correct. It is a rust bucket. I can’t stand when people mop and glow over a car rather than fix a correctly. They’re just trying to take advantage of people who don’t know any better…. Thanks for the reply Harry.
You have to remember that the 69 Chevelle is 55 y/o and while it has some shoddy work it can certainly be brought back. It really depends on how much you're willing to pay for it. I bought a 1969 Chevelle SS/396 as my first car in 1979 from a family friend. Now that was a POS!! It was only 10 y/o, NY winters/salt destroys cars. However, I could've gotten my money back selling just the fender emblems today, lol ...
In ‘81 I bought a 1970 Z28 4 spd from the original owner for $5,500 and in ‘85 from GM Parts I bought new qtrs, door skins, rear panel due to inner tail light rust and a trunk lid. This was the original owners daily driver winter included. This summer in Aug at a show he asked again if I’m ready to sell it. A friend of mine owns 2 1970 RS Z28 4 spd cars and he wasn’t interested, he said I want mine back. My wife told him that I’ve been taking really good care of it, he said I”he’s had it long enough”. 😂
Nice informative video ! Buying a vehicle without a personal inspection is something to avoid ! I have a couple of friends who had bad experiences buying that way . The internet changed a lot of things and not always for the better. 😐
That green '70 with the 2bbl 350 should be left alone. It is original only once. That 69 is typical body shop 'restored'. It's good enough if the price is good enough. It looks safe and looks good from 20 feet. If they are charging $50,000, then it is not a good deal. MOST are charging that much for cars like that. JUNK is priced at $15,000.
Matthew 9:12 "They that are whole need not a physician"... Please leave that green '70 as is & let it be enjoyed. You said yourself that it's "unmolested". It appears to only need a tank of fuel & driving! Thanks for sharing your knowledge of the cars & the Word.
I have been blessed and I want to share the good news with people when I can. I’m obviously not a preacher however, I do love our Lord and Savior Jesus and my passion for the cars has been with me since I was a little boy as well. Thanks for the encouragement Harry.
I like the intended content, but OMG your camera man has got to learn how to focus his camera. It starts off with Penthouse soft focus, then he's running auto-focus instead of just showing the wide angle.
Bahahaha, you're not wrong. We however generally shoot on the fly with an iphone and edit in imovie. Very primitive in our recording for social media as our main focus is the amazing builds in our shop. But focus definitely got away from us on this episode. Cinematic mode FAIL

Oh look! A perfectly clean original '70. Lets ruin it!
Should be given the minimum paint repair to revive it, clean and detail it out. It’s a survivor car.
If you’re going to make a total resto mod, why do you need to hack a survivor?
@jamessharp9790 Excellent point! It's only original once!
LS crate engine, QA1 stuff, 20" wheels, another restomod yawner.
Heart breaking to think how that minty green one will be destroyed by these guys. Survivors need saving not “rebuilding”!
Don't be judging before you see what we do with it.
He who owns the car can do anything he pleases with it, just be thankful it didn't get bought by whistlindeisel...
@@studiohotrodsofficial If it's cleaned up and damaged/worn out stuff replaced, I'm OK with it . If it is turned into another SS clone, I am not.
Ain't that the truth😂@@patcrain777
I'd just wipe the underside with an oily cloth and drive it in good weather.
Then, just routine maintenance.
"This car is completely unmolested, I'm going to molest it." lol
Leave the green alone, it's a time capsule. Rebuild the black one, its already been molested.
You can only have it original once shame too ruin a survivor car

You must be talking South West, here in the South East you don’t see many without rust anymore unless they’ve been stored inside.
My younger brother had a car, identical to the green one. Right down to the single exhaust, 2 bbl.
What a good memory to have!!
Great video! That 69 Chevelle was a real butch job
It's amazing what people will do for a quick buck these days.
Naturally, the vast majority of average working people are looking for week end cruisers and possibly local car shows, not uber expensive restored originals or restomods that only the very well off are able to afford.
would love to stop by and film a video with harry
We’d love that, please email us at info@studiohotrods.com and ask for Harry. You can call 262-HOT-RODS also
“Can you see this?”
No, we can’t see. The camera never sits still (or is in focus) long enough. Slow the heck down.
Ok good advice we will work on slowing down the Camara so we can get details shot better!! Thankyou
Thanks for sharing a bit of The Bible with us.
Thank you for tuning in, God Bless
I miss owning a car that I can actually work on in my driveway, and it didn't cost me much.
You are absolutely right. And the frame was not too bad, but for the cars I am building here it just doesn't make the cut.
God is good brother
Amen
Car Guys and Jesus.
The salt and soul of America 🇺🇸🙏
Great stuff. God Bless.
Thank you sir! 😊
Our pleasure thanks for responding
You are the man my friend. Your honesty will bring you more business then you can imagine. Then you add Christ into the picture, If I ever do buy a Chevelle ss I will call you up my friend. Thanks for your salvation speech. New subscriber..
So awesome to hear this. Thank you for the kind words and God Bless. Hope to see you soon when you get that SS
Lol
I learned that on my one trip to Wisconsin about 20 years ago I am from PA.
Yikes, Yeah, luckily this was from a friend of ours who also did not look at it. But he is a great guy and took it right back
Subbed to channel, love that your a follower
Thank you so much for subscribing. We will keep the readings from the good book coming along with the cool rides.
It’s called the Chapel located in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin…
Harry
The top doesnt matter, the under and frame will determine if its worth the price.
Amen, Father, The Son, The Spirit, ARE ONE. Have faith in this, You Will See Him, in All His Glory, and live with Him for all eternity With Him.
Do not touch that green Chevelle! However good you think you are your not better than original and unrestored
The body can separate from the frame with those old rubber expandable mounts .
Yea sure you see cars separated from their frames all the time!!
Your “cars for sale” on your website is not working. Says it’s been disabled.
We are currently working on new listings. This page should be up after the holidays. Thanks for making sure we knew though.
The SS is the perfect driver. Make it safe and drive the wiz out of it. If you crash it then you can build it correctly 😂😂
Amen
The TRUTH shall make you FREE….. The making is a process……You earned yourself a new subscriber😊….
Thank you for the encouragement. The word of God never comes back void and it’s awesome to get to share some of the things I’m passionate about in my life. Jesus is number one, but I sure do love the cars. Harry
I would leave that two-tone car the way it is.
That 69 Chevelle is a bondo buggy rust bucket. POS
THAT'S RIGHT DON'T BUY CLOONS
In ‘81 I bought a 1970 Z28 4 spd from the original owner for $5,500 and in ‘85 from GM Parts I bought new qtrs, door skins, rear panel due to inner tail light rust and a trunk lid. This was the original owners daily driver winter included. This summer in Aug at a show he asked again if I’m ready to sell it. A friend of mine owns 2 1970 RS Z28 4 spd cars and he wasn’t interested, he said I want mine back. My wife told him that I’ve been taking really good care of it, he said I”he’s had it long enough”. 😂
That’s a great story so what are you going to do?
Wow that's a lot of money 5500 for a 70 z28 in 1981 . I payed 1000 for a 1969 chevelle convertible nothing wrong with it in 1983 .
@@Jack1366gto An SS?
His loss, your gain!
Thanks for sharing God bless you
I have been blessed and I want to share the good news with people when I can. I’m obviously not a preacher however, I do love our Lord and Savior Jesus and my passion for the cars has been with me since I was a little boy as well. Thanks for the encouragement Harry.
Yes we are nothing with out God ❤.
Amen
I'd go ahead and spend a grand and a couple days doing full quarters on the body with skins since youve already gone that far with it.
Damn, that green Chevelle is amazing!
What a find for us!!! Wish we could get 10 more like that one😜
Well done and well said. John 3 says everything we need to know to believe in who Jesus is!!
AMEN
I hope they're not taking clean survivors and doing LED headlights and LS swaps.
