I happen to be a gamer who likes all genres but have a particular obsession with fighting games and card games. I feel happy to be able to enjoy so many things but its hard to find time to go as hard as i would wish
@Blballerboy you name it I probably play know how to play it, but I'd say main games rn are Netrunner, Cardfight Vanguard, and Digimon. Sorta waiting for a good chance to hop back into mtg or Yu-Gi-Oh. But living is very expensive rn so I've quit playing those two.
I also feel the same, I really enjoy most genres but I limit myself to playing 3 games that I commit to playing regularly so that I won’t get burnt out trying to catch up to other games
this is what we call, choice paralysis, it's the same thing that happens when you look at your shelf of physical games or you see all the games in your steam library yet you don't know which one to play, there's so much choice that making a choice feels impossible because it feels like your missing out on something else by making a choice
Reminds me of when I was a kid, my dad got me a PlayStation and I had 100+ games. All of those options and I typically played the same 10 games. I tried a lot more than 10 but definitely not every game
This is why Ive never learned an anime fighter super in depth, because I feel like the time investment might not be worth it if the community isnt there. Which is why I stick with tekken and sf despite me liking anime fighters more.
Agreed. But I do love stepping outside the two. It's so refreshing, and GBFVSR fills that extremely well it's wild. But it's also tough when I come back I have no idea what time doing anymore/my fingers are all confuzzled 😂 plus if you support those games it helps the community and leads to innovation in the long run.
being a FG fan in 2023/24 is both a blessing and a curse. as a former player of MK11 I've been waiting to play MK1 since the day it was announced and now that it's out for months i only have put like 15 hours into it because i'm so absorbed in Strive, SF6, Granblue. And UNI2 and Tekken 8 are on the horizon...
Meantime there's also Melty Blood, Skullgirls, Blazblue, KOF and Samurai Shodown with Rollback. It's just too much. Unlucky, I have exams at the start of February so I won't have any time playing Tekken on release 😅
So glad GBVR has been given a new life, having so much fun with it. Definitely trying not to give into the "but what about..." with the new games coming. Tekken's the one that I'm most likely to go "but I 'should' be playing that instead" for whatever reason, though I still want to see that the online is actually up to the other stuff out there now. French Bread's games are very cool but I know that they're not really for me. Gonna try real hard to stick on GBVR and hopefully they'll continue to bring it on supporting the game.
Highkey been struggling hard in trying to divide my time between these games. Trying to figure out what games my heart are in the most as someone who really wants to compete. It's caused quite the paralysis for me actually, its been really stressful. Its a good problem to have but a problem none the less.😅 Uni and Tekken 8 releasing literally back to back from one another is particularly troubling for me.
I dont see any of this as a problem. I still play UMVC3 and face the same 2 or 3 dudes every time. As long as there's one other person playing the game i love thats what matters. I could never see a problem with having more choices
Not for me, Tekken 8 is easily the main fighting game for me as it stands out as the only 3D fighter of the bunch. For 2d fighters I can see it being more of an issue though.
Sure the T8 have been released since more than one year now and you had "all the time" to test it and "suffer" of the "bad" online... 🙄 Seriousely T8 is not yet here... I played the CNT and the CBT and the online matchmaking was great so far. I had some connection issue in very few matches and most of the time they were Wifi players. No reasons the final version maybe less good than the 2 betas.
I think the options we have these days are great. I got fed up with my hardware not running MK1 well, so I hopped on SF6 with a friend and started guilty gear strive for when I'm alone. Now I'm currently tilted from strive and will try granblue for free until under night 2 releases. The variety is great and I love being able to play different fighting games if I get tilted from my main game, that being strive.
It's glorious I remember just a few years ago we were desperate for new games but now fightcade reviving old games and the new games coming out all the time I feel spoiled af
Yea, it's a gift and a curse. Trying to find time to play these games, adult and fulfill family/relationship obligations all at the same time is extremely hard.
Good video. Everything you said is/was like 100% my thoughts. Except my choices were a bit different for different reasons. I wanted to pick a handful of games to stick to for the next 3-5 years, since the only future FGs on the horizon that have my attention are Garou 2 and HxH, both probably 2+ years away. I ended up choosing: - Tekken 8 (I fell in love quickly this past weekend after experiencing good netcode lol, and is really going back to my 3D roots from the 90s/00s) - DNF Duel (scratches the anime aesthetic itch, doesn't have frequent updates to keep up with, and now isn't a total discord game after the EGS free day) - SamSho (discord game, but I love it so much. No longer supported, so don't need to worry about updates. Pretty dead, but again, I can just check discord or maybe just tolerate some random terrible connection player in a room) - ehh...not really sure about the final game. SF6 is a strong candidate, but if I don't like having to keep up w/ 2 major games (Tekken, SF, MK, even KoF, etc, I could really just choose 1). Unsupported games like DBFZ, BB:CTB (yes, Tag), KI, or even Koihime Enbu are ones I'm thinking of. But, they'd be 4th on the list, so it's not a huge deal, really. I think I'm really going to focus on Tekken with DNF and SamSho being the ones I hop on occasion to change it up. hmm...maybe Garou 1... The great thing about DNFD and SamSho is they are on the "easier" side for combos and execution (DNF for the most part. Some characters can have complex combos). So it'll be a bit easier to treat them as pickupnplay, as long as I remember MUs, system mechanics, knowledge checks, etc. Kind of the same w/ BB Tag and DBFZ...
Soo true - rightnow playing gbvr and loving it big time, but when tekken 8 comes out, I dont know if I will find time to play two fighting games at the same time. So much to learn but dont have the time
It is not just that it's too much to play, you're not even taking into account that for you to leave the casual-enthusiast level of a fg you will need to invest hours training specific things in specific scenarios on top of maintaining your execution sharp and your knowledge of the game on point. I developed this fear to enter a fighting game cause i know how much i would get involved and that i don't would get satisfied with just a bnb and be a casual for the rest of its lifetime. If you're wondering i played Gen in usf4 at some sort level as xian with piano fadc cancels and all the jazz of the specific combos for different hurtboxes for the entire roster. I tried to play sfv with one of the less limited chars Urien but i wasn't able to invest the time i wanted and i felt frustrated with my time and my hunger to master every japan setup video for the mirror combos and setups. When fighting games get easier for sure sucks, but also even if you could invest the same time as in our teenage years you shouldn't if you will not get something big in exchange as a youtube channel a twitch stream or so. It's not a waste of time it's fun and better with a community that travels and such but it's also time, that you will not have in the future, unless you're rich. But yeah, i am talking about just picking one game not 2 simultaneously, just one but for real. 2 is way too much even for paid gamers. No , tokido did not count , this is the same reason he stopped. The same for others. The only reason Chris G keeps entering 10 tournaments per major is because he knows no one trains and cause he already have somehow a stream and such generating. But you barely see people entering more than 1 tournaments at majors, specially on new or current titles. In short, invest your time one year per game and you will get the best of what you're looking for. Unless you're rich and you can just eat years and not go bankrupt.
For new games, I'm interested in Tekken 8. Generally, I prefer Soulcalibur or Dead or Alive over Tekken, but since neither of those have a new installment on the horizon, I (and probably a lot of other 3D fighting game players) will be playing it. The demo was pretty fun, too (and worked on Steam Deck--a real surprise). I'm curious about Rivals 2, but I'm worried. Melee is the Smash installment I enjoy the least, so I'm not sure if I would like a game that touts similarity to it. That, and there isn't a character who really sticks out to me, unlike with most other games. Aside from those, I'm enjoying Granblue, SF6, and want to get better at SamSho. I'd like to try MK1 as well since I've never played an NRS game, but the PC port isn't good (and it doesn't work well on Steam Deck).
No games gonna be bigger than project L. These games fail to understand people are tired of just matches. We need content outside of it. An entire suite. Tekken 8 seems to be really getting close. Gran blue a step in a good direction but still lacking. Additionally with more and more games & less time on people’s plates…games need to figure out ways to make single player really fun & easier to learn along with AI coaching & ghosts. Completely serious
You should totally look into Blazing Strike its a gorgeous 2d fighter coming out in 2024!! also maybe a look at Eslaf which has been in development for quite sometime!!
I've looked into both! But like I said, there's just too much! You're right though, I should've included an indie section for this...maybe that'll be the next video 👀
Rivals of Aether reminds me of Digimon Rumble Arena on the PS1 and PS2 era. Would be nice to get one of those in the present days. The Evolve mechanic is something that the Platform Fighter could benefit from.
The fighting game genre is a lot like the FPS genre in this regard. You have your big mainstream releases with stuff like COD, Overwatch, Counter Strike 2 being on par with MK, SF and T8 and and all the niche fighters filling the same role that arena shooters have.
As melty blood player, Doa player, tekken player( yeah , go even move forward) i am happy that fighting games became top topic recently, hopefully doa would also make a come back very soon (5:07 i just notice, you only used fate characters in your melty blood clip, then i guess you are a fan of fate series, well although overall the whole nasuverse is cool nonetheless)
I'm not a fate fan it was just the footage I had and most of the DLC in that game is Fate lol. I don't know the lore of either franchise I just like fighting. Is Mario a Fate character?
I have no idea why you would expect a fighting game to have a large audience more than 6 months out. That's not a bad thing the core audience will be there and as long as there are two people left playing you can still enjoy it.
I very casually got into fighting games during dbfz- not because of the franchise (though I love it) - but because of the visual fidelity. Walking into a community of senior fgc players didn’t scare me, but not being able to tell what I did wrong in MVC3 with a thousand particle efffects and less clear animations turned me off from it. DBFZ let me learn the basics and dig a little deeper, but I never went all the way. Then Guilty Gear came out and I was hooked. The animation fidelity was there. The strong offense was there, but defensive options were soooo much better. It gave me enough counter play to spend some time in the lab and sink my teeth into it. I know many content creators have already talked about it - but cool characters and satisfying animations really bring the casual audience in. It just so happened that the rest of the game let me go all in and understand the finer points of frame data, set play, etc. I’m hype for all the new games, but I did start to feel fatigue - glad to see that I’m not the only one, but weirdly it’s let me really appreciate going back and learning how to “master” the last generation of titles. Not being worried about patch rotations lets me sit in SF5 and grind out optimals and learn real footsies. It’s almost like the new game fatigue has pushed me into playing older games so that I can learn at a slower pace while juggling work, social games, and the like. All in all I’m excited for the future of fighting games.
GBVSR is probably the only fighter I'm gonna play the most simply cause I know I'm not gonna have the time to play all of them cause work. Fighting games are truly a second job lol
the hell are you talking about its just tekken uni and rivals 2 coming out thats it theres nothing that different about 2024 compared to previous years nothing new people are gonna drop uni or granblue after a two months like always people will just go back to their main game
GBVSR is just too good and the free version is the best thing what they did for the community and I never regretted paying full price. But here's the thing, I feel the same as you I want to play the new UNI more. I can actually ignore tekken 8 and SF6 for a couple of months due to balance patches eventually. But for me I just want to play more anime fighting games which is visually appealing to me and has great gameplay.
@qmanchu For the luminiera blade omega achievement RNG is your worst bet. You're better off crafting it in sierokarte's shop. You need Gran and Vira medals that you get in RPG mode (Hard missions, which you unlock after beating the main and extra story of RPG Mode, so it's a slog) Keep at it and you'll eventually get there
Really? I personally feel like I have too little to play, pretty much every major fighting game lately has released or will release without regional pricing so they're prohibitively expensive, the only fighting games I've played from this year are yomi hustle which is 5 dollars and the granblue free version, and of the games coming out next year I'm only planning on getting R2 since T8 and uni2 are confirmed to not have regional pricing. I value regional pricing as the most important thing for a fighting game to have, more than rollback, more than good singleplayer, those things don't matter if the playerbase can't actually afford the game
What country are you located in if you don't mind me asking? I want to do a video covering this in the near future because it's such a big problem. You can reach me on twitter if you feel like it too btw
@@qmanchu I live in Peru, we have it the least bad in terms of regional pricing for South America (games without regional pricing are normally twice their usual price) but I have online friends in other places who often talk about how expensive stuff is, Argentina in particular probably has it the worst in the whole world, their economy is so bad that games without regional pricing are 10 times more expensive than usual. I don't have twitter though so I can't chat through there
I’m somewhat new to fighting games and started playing Granblue and been loving it, I don’t really like SF6 and never was interested in MK. None of the future fighting games look all that interesting to me except maybe Tekken 8 but it seems kind of intimidating and I’m not sure if I would like the 3d style. So Granblue will be my go to fighting game, and maybe I’ll check Tekken 8 out.
@@frumiousgaming For Granblue? I just bought it outright 🤣 I could tell I would like it so I just bought it, but you can definitely just try the free version that’s probably smarter to do lol
There's no problem in any of this. For a niche to thrive there needs to be a balance of quantity and quality of products to cather to different demographics. As someone that's mainly playing Grandblue and Rivals of Aether, I can confirm that the learning process is as fun as just doing casual matches.
Oversaturation is definitely a danger for new games especially when old games that are already great still exist I think there is definitely too much of them and they should probably focus more on something that sets them apart and makes them worth playing
Growing up on the Arcade fighting game boom I never saw too many fighting games as a problem ... I played street fighter 2 then fatal fury then Darkstalkers then art of fighting then fighters history heck even Shaq fu 😅 😂 king of fighters and world heroes and so on the more the marrier 😂... then again all I play is 90% fighting games
Yeah im not really interested in other fgs that come out on 2024 other than tekken 8. Not a big fan of discord fighters, I just wanna hop on and play online without waiting for 2 hours
Alright... but Capcom alone was making too many fgs from the mid to late 90s... and SNK made much more fgs than Capcom, which even lasted longer... and besides those were other companies making fgs often like Midway (MK)... And besides those there was a solid wave of minor fgs on arcade and console exclusives. A single company released new games literally in 1-3 years. (3 years was even a "too long" wait in terms of the 90s fg scene)

Excellent video! I'm finding myself in this exact dilemma and it's both a blessing and a curse! I already bought GBVSR, and I'll probably spend most of my gaming time with it, it's just too good! I like so much more than everything that's out right now, and I don't expect that to change any time soon (there is so much to learn and practice!), but I also want to play some TK8 and especially UNI2. For me, it was either buy UNI2 or TK8, and I was thinking of getting UNI2, just because TK8 will still have 1k+ regular players after two years, and TBH, I like UNI way more than TK, but now I'm actually planning to buy both on release and just dabble with them on the side along with GBVSR. Basically, I plan to play GBVSR three days a week, UNI2 two days a week, and TK8 once a week. The remaining day of the week I cyble between Xrd, GGST and BBCF, or any novelty that happens to drop that week (like a beta or maybe the official release of DBFZ rollback etc...). I am also very interested in ROA2 because I don't play any platform fighters and I'm thinking it would be my gateway into them, as it is the one that seems closest to Smash on PC. BTW, 12:50 it's been a long time since I have the weapon but I believe you can craft it in Siero's shop for either Katalina or Vira, and it will give you the trophy, but you'll have to grind for the materials (medals especially are RNG and pretty low drop rate). Still, different quests have a higher drop rate for specific weapons, and while I don't remember which ones give you Luminiera's Blade, it will probably be one where you fight either Katalina or Vira as a boss in hard mode, so try clearing that quest fast and use the support skill that increases drop rate (twice, for your character and the partner) along with the Vyrn weapons that do the same in the grid. Hope it helps! I fully sympathise with you on this trophy quest, as myself too am stuck with two of Anre's weapon skins (although they're not tied to a trophy) and I still don't have the two trophies where you have to play a quest with another player online...
Ive been learning Tekken for the past month or so and im hyped for T8. Winning feels so rewarding and i also feel like losing isnt terrible because im still learning the game and my opponent. Dante for T8?
If the big UA-camrs like Sajam, Rooflemonger, Punk etc make a video on Underknight when it comes out more people will instantly become aware of it. I've found so many games due to just browsing through channels both large and small. Right now I'm trying to decide if I wanna play GBFVR or Street fighter 6 before work tomorrow
Still literally no fighters to play until Project L, as none of my friends are willing to pay the insane prices every fighting game demands. From 10 player discord fighters to the big boys, they all demand full box price plus big chunks for DLC characters or season passes. Meanwhile they jump around and play every other genre freely, investing in cosmetics and stuff where they want to.
Yeah, all my hopes are in Project L as well. If it does well it might create enough competition for the "big fish" to finally get off their asses and improve their games (more features, better online, more generous DLC).
Suffering from success is really all it is! Love to see it but I'm curious what effects this might have in the long run. We told them all we needed was rollback for us to play. Now it's time to pay up haha
It's not nether realm. They are owned by Warned who owns DC they have no need to use marvel especially since the more grounded DC style lends better to NS games than MVC games since a lot of DC is guns and projectiles
Also ain't gon lie if the source is Reddit my ass is NOT believing it Reddit is not a reliable news source,. especially not without proper citation or evidence
@@illford Capcom doesn't own the Marvel franchise, they made a single game based on the franchise. And MvC isn't an absolute model to anything, it's just one idea of Capcom... And it's totally possible to make something different. It's exactly like different companies making different games of the same 3rd party franchise.
i dont pay rent have my own house so i preordered already 9 games on the psn store like Tekken,FF7, Dogma 2, yakuza, granblue etc i can see why normal people might struggle though with all new game releases
I just go with the flow it's not like Tekken 8 or SF6 will be gone in the foreseeable future (already got SF6) ill pick up Tekken 8 with a discount at some point maybe or maybe not, i enjoy GBFVR for now
Were people really complaining about that? 2 years ago we had Melty, KOFXV, and DNF Duel, Multiversus, and who knows what else I'm missing (not including updates for SFV and T7). That's crazy to think
@qmanchu I vividly remember people being like "there's a dry spell in the FGC right now" I could be wrong on the time frame but it's just funny to me 🤣 people get what they want and now it's "too much"
For me plan to play one FG of each subgenre. SF6 for traditional fighters, Tekken 8 for 3D fighters, and DBFZ has been my main airdasher and FG for years but I'm kinda tired of it and waiting on DBFZ 2/Hunter X Hunter/Project L.
And the 00s had much less option than the 90s. All Capcom fg franchises were already dead for example, except MvC... But since MvC2 was exactly from 00, maybe that doesn't count to debunk the statement. And CvS was made in 00 and the sequel in 01, and died. Also from SNK, only KoF and Samsho were alive in the 00s among fgs, when they had 6 fg franchises in the 90s.
I chose the late 90s and early 2000s cause I felt that’s when EVO and the FGC really took off. There were many quality games in those eras that’s why they’re GOATs. Some of the other notable games had people playing at my local arcades. DOA, VF, Soul Calibur, Vampire Saviour, and some other niche titles. It’s 2024.. of course those games wouldn’t be trending now. They’re over 2 decades old. My response was to the title as I found myself playing a lot of fighting games back then.
More choice is always good but in the fighting games having a lot of them is extremely frustrating as a fan because you know damn well how stupid 99% of modern FG and how atrocious their DLC balance and MTX model is.
Maybe fgs nowadays can be the most expensive console gaming genre for a big fg consumer with large rage of interest (the one who buys every or almost everything)... If you count the total spendings on SF, MK, TK, KOF, SC, each Arc System fg, other minor fgs, indie fgs, etc.
I feel like the fighting game community has such a hard time just enjoying a game. And has alot of..fare weather fans. It doesn't help alot of people have kinda..gotten addicted to the patch hype. And if a game isn't getting constant patches, updates, DLC, it dies. Unless it's the big 3 sf,mk,tekken. Anything els 2 to 3 months in they moving to another game or going back to play something familiar. There's no more. It is what it is when it comes to fighting games. It's easier to just go play something els or wait for a patch to take out somthing you don't like. I believe that's why the big 3 always last simply because they are most well known games. That get the most support. So even 2 or 3 months in. It really doesn't matter. More people will always be watching the tournaments, attending them. The prize pools bigger. The genre is kinda backed into corner and very few want it to come out. Why play game full of unfamiliar characters when they can keep going back to the same faces over and over and over again. With the same mechanics and gamplay, move sets, costumes. We've gotten so addicted to familiarity.
About Sajam wanting Rollback, all I want for a Fighting Game is: "Does it have a good Single Player? Does it have content, replay value and progress to have my desire to keep coming back, or will it be barebones, all 100% unlocked and with no content other than "get good" as Counter-Strike?" I'm a good racing player thanks to Gran Turismo, because it has an amazing Career and progress, thus making me want to learn more and eventually get me Online. Fighting Games has... "Gran Turismo License Test"-like modes, a repetitive story gameplay that ask me "Why not expand Arcade since it's basically that?" and everything's unlocked that makes me want to retire quickly. That's my 2024 crisis... Well, Fighting Games in general, unless we're talking about Smash Bros. like Brawl.
@@illford ...Yeah? I probably spend +200 Hours in Brawl, and for a good reason. Subspace Emissary, Classic, All-Stars (Classic but bit different), Missions(?), 3 Mini-Games, Boss Rush, custom modes, custom stages and more stages other than a flat one. And on top of all that, the game isn't complete on the start. Collecting Trophies, Stickers and unlocking fighters was a blast! Especially when the game rewards you for playing other characters, difficulties and modes, which means experimenting and dedication is found on me, something other Fighting Games fails other than "It's there, if you like." Now I heard -seen the Online is trash, and yes tripping is BS, *I did lost many times because of that,* but I could see myself playing Online. Compared to DNF Duel: Battle, Battle but story, Battle but Arcade, Battle but Survival (all Battles contain the same stage), Training, Combo Trail... *Oh like ALL Fighting Games, basically?* You see what I mean?
I remember when I used to play by myself in fighting games, and I always like Vs. CPU mode because I could play whoever I wanted against any character I wanted at any stage. But Tekken 6's scenario campaign was really fun, and TTT2's combot tutorial mode thingy was cool too. I'm excited to see what offerings single player-wise will be available in Tekken 8, even if I would mostly be playing online. Two questions 1.) Is Gran Turismo 7 worth buying? 2.) Do I need to wheel to effectively play the game?
@@deco7217 1) Not sure. I don't have GT7. I heard it's lacking in many areas but to tell it's not worth it I'm not sure. 2) The GTs I play has its Online servers shutdown or no Online, so... Well, you *can* win races Online with a controller (L2/R2 and the analog stick(s) ), just like I can beat mouse and keyboard player with a controller in Shooters. Just make sure to adjust your driving sensitivity and others that fits you/your vehicle. And, importantly, not all controller are equal (even outside of controllers), even from the same company. I once had a PS3 controller by Sony with a stick of an accuracy of a "Contol Freek" accessory. ...Just once, out of 5+. It was awesome! (Now you see why people say controllers can't "compete") Now yes, a wheel gives you more range of steering and pressing pedals than a controller, thus easier to maintain an angle, and while safe I'd say test out your controller first to see if you're happy or not with the results. I sure need a new controller... The new one I have had bad deadzones, with the analog sticks reaching 100% of input without pushing 100% of the sticks. (Not made by Sony)
I understand. I want to get grandblue but Tekken 8 is coming soon. And I don't want to leave grandblue on the side. Even every time I see it gives me the itch to get it
I'm sooo happy that i'm not really interested in fighting games, the only one i play is Tekken... And i'm really hayped for Tekken 8, excpecial after the Yoshimitsu trailer But i know many Tekken player that only play Tekken, so maybe it has samothing to do with the game
I tried it since it's been free. But it's just another one of those older games getting updates that I mentioned. I'm not here to list them all. I didn't have an Xbox or PC until recently so no I never played the newest one till it just got the free update :) Already got a video in the works about it
I see absolutely everyone coming to tekken eventually. The other games just aren't as deep and tend to get thrown away after a few months, besides maybe SF, but sf6 is kinda meh after the honeymoon phase. Ive been playing tekken for like the last 3 years nonstop after coming to tekken as a new player from FPS games and SF
Another issue is that, now, fighting games are much more expensive than in the arcade days. Back then, kids could go to the arcade regularly and get good at a ton of games with only pocket change from their parents. Now, there are the same number of "must play" games, and you have to pay full price for all of them plus DLC. Yes, the arcade era had its own problems, but at least credits were cheap.
I don't know about Granblue man, even though it's Arcsys it looks incredibly generic, on top of that I tried the free version and my fight stick nor my controller works while many of the kb inputs aren't working... couldn't even navigate properly through the menu... just ended up uninstalling eventually.

That's exactly my mindset and additionally the newest game from my favorite series(Guilty Gear) is not as fun as old ones. So Tekken ftw.
Seeing Rivals 2 get mentioned here makes me happy. ROA is such a good game and deserves more love
👊🏾
Personally it's super meh and is carried by custom characters
being a FG fan in 2023/24 is both a blessing and a curse. as a former player of MK11 I've been waiting to play MK1 since the day it was announced and now that it's out for months i only have put like 15 hours into it because i'm so absorbed in Strive, SF6, Granblue.
@@adamtyniec6309do not support Skullgirl please, the game was stolen from the original creator after some plotted cancellation.
🫡 fighting the good fight. That game is very good. I've loved it since day 1
Highkey been struggling hard in trying to divide my time between these games. Trying to figure out what games my heart are in the most as someone who really wants to compete. It's caused quite the paralysis for me actually, its been really stressful. Its a good problem to have but a problem none the less.😅
Uni and Tekken 8 releasing literally back to back from one another is particularly troubling for me.
I dont see any of this as a problem. I still play UMVC3 and face the same 2 or 3 dudes every time. As long as there's one other person playing the game i love thats what matters. I could never see a problem with having more choices
Most people don't like playing the same guys over and over again though. Or waiting forever to find a match.
@@calcutlassit’s all playing the same person no room to grow tbh
Not for me, Tekken 8 is easily the main fighting game for me as it stands out as the only 3D fighter of the bunch. For 2d fighters I can see it being more of an issue though.
Too bad T8 online will suck.
@@ogamitaicho77 you could literally play with jap players and have a decent time if both players were on cable "online will suck" bahaha
I got samurai showdown as an early b'day present. It's a shame no-one is playing it but it's fun and I want to improve at the series :)
I ended up choosing:
- Tekken 8 (I fell in love quickly this past weekend after experiencing good netcode lol, and is really going back to my 3D roots from the 90s/00s)
- DNF Duel (scratches the anime aesthetic itch, doesn't have frequent updates to keep up with, and now isn't a total discord game after the EGS free day)
- SamSho (discord game, but I love it so much. No longer supported, so don't need to worry about updates. Pretty dead, but again, I can just check discord or maybe just tolerate some random terrible connection player in a room)
- ehh...not really sure about the final game.
This reminds me of the 2009-2012 era when there were so many FGs to choose from. Except it's better because online these days is actually good.
Soo true - rightnow playing gbvr and loving it big time, but when tekken 8 comes out, I dont know if I will find time to play two fighting games at the same time. So much to learn but dont have the time
ill just play whatever SNK is putting out
KOFXV S3 When?
I just want to see more info about Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves. Especially the initial roster
Yep, the irony is palpable. I'm just happy rollback is becoming a clear standard, but I don't have the time and the money to play them all now.
Unless you're rich and you can just eat years and not go bankrupt.
is GBR really anime without long combos and air dashes?
Long combos are there but you need to dump all of your resources to do that, and it's not easy either.
@@kemalerdemsahin410nah, granblue combos are easy as fuck
Yes it is anime
What I have learned to do is play everything till I find the game that fits me and dabble in the others
Are there even any decent arena shooters rn?
I thought the genre died
As melty blood player, Doa player, tekken player( yeah , go even move forward) i am happy that fighting games became top topic recently, hopefully doa would also make a come back very soon
(5:07 i just notice, you only used fate characters in your melty blood clip, then i guess you are a fan of fate series, well although overall the whole nasuverse is cool nonetheless)
I like how you said " Match Up is King " then Showed King from Tekken.... I caught that 😊
My fighting game cup runneth over. I'm going to go grab a few more cups. We are truly entering a new golden age.
3:07 how TF are they from the country of gay???
We're absolutely spoilt. Lots of people came back to Killer Instinct too. There's so much good stuff happening, I've got choice paralysis
Through out this entire video I couldn't help but notice that you kinda sound like Mr Green (the ai clone of Nile Red) and it's super funny to me
"To much to play" meanwhile Maximilliandood just like: "Ill just play them all"
Maybe I'd also do it if I was exactly in his place, instead of my south american poverty
GBVSR is probably the only fighter I'm gonna play the most simply cause I know I'm not gonna have the time to play all of them cause work. Fighting games are truly a second job lol
“Tekken 3 on my dad’s PlayStation 2”. Man I feel old. lol. I’m most excited for T8 & Uni. Those will likely be my main fighters.
the hell are you talking about
its just tekken uni and rivals 2 coming out thats it
theres nothing that different about 2024 compared to previous years
nothing new
people are gonna drop uni or granblue after a two months
like always
people will just go back to their main game
GBVSR is just too good and the free version is the best thing what they did for the community and I never regretted paying full price. But here's the thing, I feel the same as you I want to play the new UNI more. I can actually ignore tekken 8 and SF6 for a couple of months due to balance patches eventually. But for me I just want to play more anime fighting games which is visually appealing to me and has great gameplay.
@qmanchu For the luminiera blade omega achievement RNG is your worst bet. You're better off crafting it in sierokarte's shop.
You need Gran and Vira medals that you get in RPG mode (Hard missions, which you unlock after beating the main and extra story of RPG Mode, so it's a slog)
Keep at it and you'll eventually get there
Yeah I tried that method and realized how long that was gonna take and gave up lol. Just getting to those missions is so much
@@qmanchu if the game had cross play I could help you getting through the missions in hard mode with my level 82 Gran
I don't have twitter though so I can't chat through there
No problem I appreciate the insight. Thanks for your support as well!
Are we pretending there is a contender to tekken8?😅
I’m somewhat new to fighting games and started playing Granblue and been loving it, I don’t really like SF6 and never was interested in MK. None of the future fighting games look all that interesting to me except maybe Tekken 8 but it seems kind of intimidating and I’m not sure if I would like the 3d style. So Granblue will be my go to fighting game, and maybe I’ll check Tekken 8 out.
You Can try the Beta rn and it so also the Most beginner freiendly tekken ever
Out of curiosity did you start playing for free?
@@frumiousgaming For Granblue? I just bought it outright 🤣 I could tell I would like it so I just bought it, but you can definitely just try the free version that’s probably smarter to do lol
@@bakad5458 did you play the pre-rising version at all?
@@frumiousgaming Nope!
There's no problem in any of this. For a niche to thrive there needs to be a balance of quantity and quality of products to cather to different demographics. As someone that's mainly playing Grandblue and Rivals of Aether, I can confirm that the learning process is as fun as just doing casual matches.
Oversaturation is definitely a danger for new games especially when old games that are already great still exist
I think there is definitely too much of them and they should probably focus more on something that sets them apart and makes them worth playing
I agree, but I'd rather this than anything else lol. Went to Evo 2023, shit was ELECTRIC and I'm stupid hyped to find out the Evo lineup this year
Doesn't Tekken 8 come out the day after under night 2 comes out
What other 3d fighter is there to play except Tekken?
Growing up on the Arcade fighting game boom I never saw too many fighting games as a problem ... I played street fighter 2 then fatal fury then Darkstalkers then art of fighting then fighters history heck even Shaq fu 😅 😂 king of fighters and world heroes and so on the more the marrier 😂... then again all I play is 90% fighting games
And then they made DNF Duel free on the EGS for a day... And now I have 100 hours in it x_x
I'm surprised you didn't talk about Persona. That one's pretty good too
Bro I forgot! That was a bit earlier in the year but yeah you're right
tekken is the only fighting game for me.
Yeah im not really interested in other fgs that come out on 2024 other than tekken 8. Not a big fan of discord fighters, I just wanna hop on and play online without waiting for 2 hours
Tekken 8 is looking lit, while we're getting a lot of quality FG games this year I do feel like Tekken 8 is heavily overshadowing all the others.
then check on other 3d fighting games, and some 2d fighting games that fit your taste, you never know what kinda of games you might miss
But the reality is that "fg fans" generally only play 1-2 franchises. You are part of the average group.
Samsho isnt playable on steam right?
Alright... but Capcom alone was making too many fgs from the mid to late 90s... and SNK made much more fgs than Capcom, which even lasted longer... and besides those were other companies making fgs often like Midway (MK)... And besides those there was a solid wave of minor fgs on arcade and console exclusives. A single company released new games literally in 1-3 years. (3 years was even a "too long" wait in terms of the 90s fg scene)
This is an old problem ever since Street Fighter 2. Even though it's an incredibly niche genre there's simply just way too many to play.

Dude TEkken is so good! i've played in 3 betas for it. I love me my anime fighter but ALL i want to play is TEkken 8. give it a try
The problem with Tekken is you will still be losing to things you have just never seen before in 5 years.
Bro it's about to be fight heaven for me but my wallet....
They will make videos. They have before. I just hope the support for the game persists
Gentlemen what we have here are good problems
Suffering from success is really all it is! Love to see it but I'm curious what effects this might have in the long run. We told them all we needed was rollback for us to play. Now it's time to pay up haha
T8, Tenkaichi, Project L, and any announcements for a new Marvel fighting game(if its nether realms im not interested).
@@illford theres been leaks that a NRS Marvel game or Mervel vs DC game is being made. I dont want it either. Id prefer Arcsys.
@@illford Capcom doesn't own the Marvel franchise, they made a single game based on the franchise. And MvC isn't an absolute model to anything, it's just one idea of Capcom... And it's totally possible to make something different. It's exactly like different companies making different games of the same 3rd party franchise.
As a OCE gamer most FGC games die real fast so big 3 Tekken 8, SF6, MK1 everything else cant search and play discord refugees for those 1
That mixes two different things. If it's about longevity then MK must be removed and only SF and TK stay.
i dont pay rent have my own house so i preordered already 9 games on the psn store like Tekken,FF7, Dogma 2, yakuza, granblue etc
i can see why normal people might struggle though with all new game releases
I just go with the flow it's not like Tekken 8 or SF6 will be gone in the foreseeable future (already got SF6) ill pick up Tekken 8 with a discount at some point maybe or maybe not, i enjoy GBFVR for now
I didn't know anybody else watched Engaged to the Unidentified 0:51
The original UNI didn't last because it didn't have rollback, and then they promised it, and then they didn't give it to us
I tell you what though. I don't talk about T7, I ain't gonna be talkin about T8.
I forgot about that tbh
How is that a bad thing?
Is there new info on the religion fighting game that we all pog about? Even tho santa is in it 🤣
granblue gets a battle pass so passing up on that will free up a lot of time money and mindless grind, unless youre immune to fomo
Not even 2 years ago, people were complaining that there wasn't enough FG stuff. 😅 pick a game or couple and have fun
Were people really complaining about that? 2 years ago we had Melty, KOFXV, and DNF Duel, Multiversus, and who knows what else I'm missing (not including updates for SFV and T7). That's crazy to think
@qmanchu I vividly remember people being like "there's a dry spell in the FGC right now" I could be wrong on the time frame but it's just funny to me 🤣 people get what they want and now it's "too much"
Thats just video games as an adult in a nutshell
Unfortunately I think that no crossplay is going to hurt Uni 2 in the long run but French Bread just straight up can't afford it so it is what it is
I cant go hard on mutiple fighting games as a competitive player and have time for my other passions. Ill probably stick with t8 till project L drops
No crisis for the focused. Tekken 8 for next 10 years 😅
Before many people nagged about not enough fighting games . Now some of them are nagging about increasing quantity of fighting games 😂
There were a lot more back in early 2000. You had GOATS like MVC2, SF 3S, KOF, MK, GG, etc.
Definitely gonna buy it too, $50 ain’t shit! Specially when people pay 80+ for games like CoD
Wanna collaborate on something for Rivals 2? 🧐
👀 dm me on Twitter mate. I'm interested
If you count the total spendings on SF, MK, TK, KOF, SC, each Arc System fg, other minor fgs, indie fgs, etc.
ah i completely understand how u feel lmao fighterz is getting rollback announced the day tekken comes out lol
The true crisis is the cost of outfits in mortal Kombat and street fighter 😅
I also played Tekken on Qmanchu’s Dad’s PlayStation.
😮
About Sajam wanting Rollback, all I want for a Fighting Game is:
"Does it have a good Single Player? Does it have content, replay value and progress to have my desire to keep coming back, or will it be barebones, all 100% unlocked and with no content other than "get good" as Counter-Strike?"
I'm a good racing player thanks to Gran Turismo, because it has an amazing Career and progress, thus making me want to learn more and eventually get me Online.
Fighting Games has... "Gran Turismo License Test"-like modes, a repetitive story gameplay that ask me "Why not expand Arcade since it's basically that?" and everything's unlocked that makes me want to retire quickly.
That's my 2024 crisis... Well, Fighting Games in general, unless we're talking about Smash Bros. like Brawl.
Brawl all of all choices?
@@illford ...Yeah?
I probably spend +200 Hours in Brawl, and for a good reason.
Subspace Emissary, Classic, All-Stars (Classic but bit different), Missions(?), 3 Mini-Games, Boss Rush, custom modes, custom stages and more stages other than a flat one.
And on top of all that, the game isn't complete on the start. Collecting Trophies, Stickers and unlocking fighters was a blast!
Especially when the game rewards you for playing other characters, difficulties and modes, which means experimenting and dedication is found on me, something other Fighting Games fails other than "It's there, if you like."
Now I heard -seen the Online is trash, and yes tripping is BS, *I did lost many times because of that,* but I could see myself playing Online.
Compared to DNF Duel:
Battle, Battle but story, Battle but Arcade, Battle but Survival (all Battles contain the same stage), Training, Combo Trail...
*Oh like ALL Fighting Games, basically?*
You see what I mean?
I remember when I used to play by myself in fighting games, and I always like Vs. CPU mode because I could play whoever I wanted against any character I wanted at any stage. But Tekken 6's scenario campaign was really fun, and TTT2's combot tutorial mode thingy was cool too. I'm excited to see what offerings single player-wise will be available in Tekken 8, even if I would mostly be playing online.
Two questions
1.) Is Gran Turismo 7 worth buying?
2.) Do I need to wheel to effectively play the game?
@@gameboyadvancedsp6727 Yeah, brawl has it's problems, but one thing you gotta give it credit for is it's single player.
(Now you see why people say controllers can't "compete")
Now yes, a wheel gives you more range of steering and pressing pedals than a controller, thus easier to maintain an angle, and while safe I'd say test out your controller first to see if you're happy or not with the results.
And i'm really hayped for Tekken 8, excpecial after the Yoshimitsu trailer
But i know many Tekken player that only play Tekken, so maybe it has samothing to do with the game
Tekken 8 is all that matters going forwards
Not a single mention of Killer Instinct. I’m just going to assume for your sake you have not yet tried the best fighting game of the decade out there?
I tried it since it's been free. But it's just another one of those older games getting updates that I mentioned. I'm not here to list them all.
I didn't have an Xbox or PC until recently so no I never played the newest one till it just got the free update :)
Already got a video in the works about it
From people saying "fighting game renaissance" to disaster. . .wow.
great
Tekken and soulsborne is all I need 🙏😩
Yes, the arcade era had its own problems, but at least credits were cheap.
not too much to play for me after playing all the released fgs there is only one that's going to be taking my time going forward.....
I don't know about Granblue man, even though it's Arcsys it looks incredibly generic, on top of that I tried the free version and my fight stick nor my controller works while many of the kb inputs aren't working... couldn't even navigate properly through the menu... just ended up uninstalling eventually.
Tekken 8 demo is absolutely fire though.
While all these games will be great in 2024 I do feel like Tekken 8 is gonna overshadow the rest, that's like THE FG game of 2024.
i think im abt to buy every new fighting game this/next year except rivals cuz i dont have a pc💀😭🙏🏿
