I'm not a big pipe welder guy but like watching the vids . When you guy have these on the truck are they insulated from the truck? I've always been told if you weld on a vehicle to unhook the battery

Before buying your chuck, make sure backing plates are readily available. A lot of older lathes have custom connections. I know because every chuck I buy for my old lathe requires me to make a custom backing plate.

loping off and old truck axle is a hit tip for sure. esp if ya can find pillow blocks to fit. 🎉

they are really simple to build the hardest part is alingning the chuck so it spins perfect. I really enjoy mine but like you said its alot fo money.

So a three jaw they all tighten up together. A 4 jaw you have to tighten one jaw at a time I believe
Could you try to do and interview and ask different welders what going into deciding a right truck?

I’ve never unhooked my batteries and no they just slide right Ina reviever tube and bolt down to the bed. Never had any trouble
