Hi mate, where did you get a second piece of cable with connector? I have a problem, but my fuse box seems to be fine. Can it be just the cable itself? thanks a lot!
If you have no power and can't open the trunk/boot area. Your key fob has a kind of button on it there is a hidden key inside your fob. Look under the back edge of your trunk lid there is a latch for the key hidden under there on the outside of the vehicle. Same key works in drivers door handle.
I'm half done tearing mine apart. Definitely a weird issue but yea. One day turned the car off at the gas station then tried to start it again but nothing. Not even dome lights. Wiggled the power cable under glove box and boom back to normal. Recently it started doing it again randomly it wouldnt start then yesterday killed it at a light. So now its time to fix. Literally no power works in the car when its acting up.
Same thing happen to me, i got away with wiggling the power cable a few times then it melted to the board and was done. Hope the replacement goes smooth for you!
Would the vehicle recognize the key? I’m having an issue with no key recognition, started taking the passengers side apart and noticed water intrusion. Suspecting bcm or fuse box corroded.
Hi Guys. I have 2009 bmw x5 4.8. The same noise is heard from the fuse box while starting and stopping the car. And when I try to turn off the car the headlights and the alarm lights don't turn off. I changed the fuse box on the front and the relays on the back, the fuse box and the roles from which this noise comes from. but the problem was not solved. The car does not turn off the ignition and the rear lights and headlights indicator lights do not turn off. I have to unplug the battery every time . Please help me
Hey thanks for making this video. I've had the recall done on the B+ cable ('07 335i) years ago, but now (2023), there is a clicking noise whenever I insert my key into the slot and when I remove it. The clicking sounds like someone sending a Morse Code message. I also have 5 CAS faults in the CAS module. According to the schematics, the JB provides power the CAS module via fuses F51 and F4, so if the JB is faulty, the CAS may not be getting power, and that's triggering the faults. I'm going to pull my JB out to see if the B+ cable is melted to the socket. Now I'm wondering how to prevent future melting of the B+ cable
Thank you, and unfortunately mine was doing the exact same thing before it fused itself to the panel (junction box). I would definitely take a look at yours and if the warranty work has already been done on your car the connection should have a screw on it, just tighten that up before it arc's itself to your fuse panel and turns into a bigger deal like mine did.
@@MitchCarveth thanks a lot bro i changed today the fuse box so im gonna try it for a few days and check if the power will black out again or not, in a week i face the problem like 2 times let's see if solved or not.

Hi Mitch, thank you for the video. I have found in the web that this fault ended up with a fatal accident in the UK in 2016 and recall repairs started to be carried out after this. But, I have a question. In this recall, BMW only replaces the power cable. Do you agree with me the fuse box also needs to be changed as part of this recall? Thank you. This fault last Saturday caused my car (2010 E90 320i) to cut off whole the power and electricity while driving at around 50mph!
i'm having similar problem car cut out at low speed after being in traffic no warning removed the key then starts 5 min late happen 3 months ago and last week drove to birmingham and back 240m no problem after this?
What exactly were your symptoms ? Thought I had a bad battery but it was good so the ne t thing I'm thinking is the alternator. But I'm wondering if there is an alternator fuse
Randomly one day the alarm started going off after trying to unlock the car then it went into full lockup. Long story short I reached through the glove box and wiggled the cable to the fuse panel and restored power. Samething happened one other time and after that it was bricked and needed to be replaced.
Thanks. I was driving one night when all of the service lights started going off. The wipers turned on high like it was a ghost car and wouldn't stop until I turned the car off . The next day everything is back to normal but I'm trying to find the issue asap before putting out any money .
I finally got the fuse box off and the fuse box looks ok and I'm getting power through the B+ cable not charred or anything and I checked inside the box as well and no problems it appears... what would you look at next to find the problem? (BCM? I ordered one in case but don't know where else to look) It is a '09 BMW 335i Thanks for the video! (also, it's the 61-14-9-119-44-04 if it matters)
Hey man great tutorial, very thorough!! I know you did this a long time ago but I might be having issues with mine. So basically I disconnected my f40 fuse (Radio Fuse) thinking this was the fuel pump fuse. I accidentally forgot to plug it back in and started driving, then noticed my radio wasn’t working and plugged it back in. Looked on Ista and got two errors pop up A731: JBE, supply terminal 30g-f and A554: Instrument Cluster No Message (Telephone) About two days later my radio says “Hi Temp” (never had any sort of radio or audio issue before) and after removing the fuse the radio doesn’t turn on and there is no sound. Only thing that is working is the lights on the radio buttons, eject CD player button and everything else electrically works on the car. So my question is since terminal 30g-f controls both fuse f40 and telephone fuse do you think it could be the terminal 30g-f relay on the pc board that is physically on the pc board? Sorry for the long post it’s hard to explain and very difficult to figure out what the main issue is
If the battery checks out I would go to your fuse panel and honestly smack it a few times, obviously not super hard but enough to shake it a little bit. If you can see the red power cable to right of the fuse panel try and wiggle it with your finger. It will be a pain to get your fingers back there but that's what I did and it was enough to get power to the car so I could get started and drive it home. If you dont get power to your car doing that I would do some more trouble shooting before you take your dash apart.
@@MitchCarveth sorry I took a while to reply what I was able to figure out was my battery was gone I must have read 14v but then I checked again and saw it was 1.4v🤣 I put a new one and it don't start because there are codes as P1278,p1727,p1771,u0100 the last one is that there is no activity to the ecm. If this is gone too what could I do afterwards to fix this? I bought the car as is and I just thought this was a steel for the price i paid and I was told it needed be program how but I also think the ecm is just toast.
@408skills. All good man, Im glad you got the battery situation figured out 😂 As for the ECM you might need a BMW specific code reader to tell you exactly whats wrong with it. depending on how much you paid for the car if the ECM is toast you can find used ones for under $200 then just get it programmed. Do you know if whoever you bought it from already put a new ECM in it? it could be non responsive because of that and thats why it needed to be programmed.
hey mitch, I think i have a smiliar problem. car was left for a year or so without being used. tried to start it backup, battery is new and fine but just no electrics or nothing.
Try to reach into the glove box and wiggle the fuse panel to see if you get power back. sometimes that's just enough to make the connection. If you restore power doing this then unfortunately this is your issue as well.

@@davidvega2381 My issue was lucky(cheap) I bought the car (328i e92) used a year ago, and the previous owner put a battery from Canadian tire in the car. Bmw cars are fine to run with aftermarket/non OEM batteries, but if you leave the car sitting for more than a week or 2, it tends to fault the negative IBS. Hi mate,
where did you get a second piece of cable with connector? I have a problem, but my fuse box seems to be fine. Can it be just the cable itself?
thanks a lot!
The end of the cable can wear out so that might be whats going on with yours. i have the link for the cable in the description.
@@MitchCarveth thanks a lot! more people like you)) Greetings from Czech Republic.
Anytime man! and thank you!
@@hynczes1 did you fix the problem?
@@pedecia yeah it was a really worn end of the cable (connector), it was enough to fix it.
Having the same problems right now no power key gets stuck in socket what is the wire that runs from battery to junction box called ?
Did you ever find out? Same thing happen to mine too! Key is still stuck 🤦🏼♀️
So what was the original problem?
Would the vehicle recognize the key? I’m having an issue with no key recognition, started taking the passengers side apart and noticed water intrusion. Suspecting bcm or fuse box corroded.
How did you fix it? I’m having same issue, ignition is not recognizing my key

Hello friend from Chile I have the problem that does not turn on and 2acc code comes out
I have to unplug the battery every time

Did u ever find out if that was the issue ? I’m having similar issues
@@chucktaylor3656 yes. Scan the CAS module. Known issue with module failures. There is a shop that you can send it to for repair.
Awesome video well done. I have the same issue but with my car the power gets back after a while was it like that with ur car??
Thank you, and unfortunately mine was doing the exact same thing before it fused itself to the panel (junction box). I would definitely take a look at yours and if the warranty work has already been done on your car the connection should have a screw on it, just tighten that up before it arc's itself to your fuse panel and turns into a bigger deal like mine did.
@@MitchCarveth thanks a lot bro i changed today the fuse box so im gonna try it for a few days and check if the power will black out again or not, in a week i face the problem like 2 times let's see if solved or not.
@Charbel Chemaly You're welcome man, let me know how it goes
Hey, I have started to have same problem since this summer. Bmw replaced the battery and the cables around the battery which fixed the issue. But now after 3-4 months it have started to happen again.

@@christianbrams9152 most times the battery don't need to be replaced. BMW told me battery had to be replaced but I took it out myself and brought in for check on a battery expert shop and it is perfect. Idk if I’m having this problem rn but I have an 07 335i my key works to lock and unlock car I have no lights on dash board and car acts as if it doesn’t even recognize my key I have pro tools and a code 2ded saying power control management error violation could this be that issue ??? I’ve got same issue , 320d however , did you find a fix?!
my parents own a e90 335 and its stuck in the driveway, ,my sister was out driving it one weekend and having fun then it just like shut off while driving or something or when she was trying to leave i assume then had to get it towed home. it wont power on yeah i think its related to this issue..
BMW 320d 07 e91
Quick question did your car start whenever it felt like?
mine currently
I salute you for the solutions and I like to thank you.
The B+ terminal will work for a e92 08 328i
What exactly were your symptoms ?
That is defiantly a new one for me, i haven't heard of that happening before. If i find anything that would cause those symptoms i'll let you know.
Thanks I appreciate that. Just gonna do some research and hopefully find a solution
@marquell green Look into the voltage regulator
Hello, where did you get the fuse panel and for how much the cost?
Hello, I got it from BMW Parts Link, (Part# 61-14-9-119-445) and its actually on sale right now for $131.66
I finally got the fuse box off and the fuse box looks ok and I'm getting power through the B+ cable not charred or anything and I checked inside the box as well and no problems it appears... what would you look at next to find the problem? (BCM? I ordered one in case but don't know where else to look) It is a '09 BMW 335i Thanks for the video! (also, it's the 61-14-9-119-44-04 if it matters)
Did you fix your car? What was it?
@@alejandrochavezramos1610 it was the ECU? The unit associated with ignition. Put original fuse box back in n together it has run 2 years no problem.
Looked on Ista and got two errors pop up
A731: JBE, supply terminal 30g-f and
A554: Instrument Cluster No Message (Telephone)
About two days later my radio says “Hi Temp” (never had any sort of radio or audio issue before) and after removing the fuse the radio doesn’t turn on and there is no sound.
Sorry for the long post it’s hard to explain and very difficult to figure out what the main issue is
😊😊😊
Hey do you think I have a similar problem? I bought an e90 I got absolutely no power anywhere also it's been hit in the back
If you have a new battery or have had the one in it tested and it is good i would say you might have the same problem.
@@MitchCarveth right I supposely got a new battery I'm going check my car tomorrow see what I can find if I possibly have had a short as well thanks
@@MitchCarveth thank you will try

I have exactly the same problem, today when i drive my car on the highway , the car powered off.
That was horrible, but when i hit the fuse box and moving the cable the auto powerd on again .
I had already this problem , the mechanic had already the fuse box and the cable changed and i got this problem again.
I think there is another thing to change because when the car stoped and start colling again the car powerd on again .
I noticed that maybe there is a fuse should change?
Anybody has an answer?
Those cars are nightmares it seems. Defective from start and made like this on purpose.... BMW charges a fortune by hour to repair it (if really does repair it completely). My BMW F30 would be the last BMW I purchased ever as blogs are filled with people that has electrical/electronic failures like this.
How did this start
Literally had zero symptoms then one day it freaked out in the store parking lot when I tried to unlock it. I hit the fuse panel a couple times with my hand then it regained power long enough to get home.

So I ended up replacing the IBS and that solved my issue. If you’re situation is similar to mine then I hope this puts you in the right direction, but if not then I wish you luck.
If there are any questions you have don’t be afraid to ask👌

This is covered under recall
The dealership had already done the job under the recall but would't admit to messing it up so i had to do it correctly.
That’s some bs. If they repaired it like that it’s not according to their sib. They are supposed to run a whole new wire.
@@Sumayyahguest that's what I told them then it turned into the whole well it worked when it left our shop... so instead of dragging it out further I just wanted the car back on the road and did it myself plus having to install a new junction box.
You should complain to corporate and ask for some compensation.
@@Sumayyahguest Actually the SIB states to install that piece of cable. The part number for that cable and other hardware are listed on the SIB. So no, the dealership was not supposed to run a new cable from the battery to the fuse box.

@@Ali-bh6lg Same thing started with mine, some time ago - first I just couldn't start it, but power eventually came back after couple of minutes. Now it starts loosing power even when driving... No recall on this where I live (Poland). Will know for sure in a week or so when I bring it to the workshop.
My car was at work last week I went out to sit in during break. Approached the car and the alarm was going off and was unable to use the electronic key unlock on my fob. So after using the manual pullout key I realised there was no power to car at all. Thought the battery has drained. Went back after shift with jump leads and thought I'll give it a go with key. Power was back on! Thought great I can drive home and charge the battery. Next morning charged battery fully but still no power. Thought how strange. Now my car has had a recall recently something to do with battery connecting to fuse box. So I initially thought must have something to do with that. Roll on a week tried my key today. Powers back on!! Thinking wtf. Also once I got into my car it showed that my key battery needs a battery replacement. Too many things making me wonder what the hell is going on with my e93. At least now I can book a day where they can sort out the recall issue. But has anyone ever experienced this with their car? Any advice would be appreciated thanks

Hello Sir, I am having same issue with 2010 BMW 750Li xDrive 8 Cylinders 4.4L Twin Turbo. None of my fuse blown and I am getting power to fuse box fuses. Does that means, fuse box is good? Thank you very much.
@@singhsarabjit my car went completely dead. It was the recall issue. They had to use a remote controlled tow. Was something that looked like it was taken from a sci fi movie. The cables connecting to the battery were faulty this was the reason for BMW's recall. Hence the reason the car was intermittently unable to start. If your experiencing similar issues I suggest you find out if this is your problem. And if BMW covers it. Best of luck

Hope it works!
This may be my issue.
If you have no power at all and your battery is fine this will more than likely be your issue.
I have a flicker. About every 30 seconds or so. It's not the battery, Ibs, or the positive cable explosive charge.
I would check it out for sure, mine was kind of doing the same then finally just melted the board. If you do end up losing power completely try reaching in next/behind the panel and see if you can wiggle the red power cable with your finger, that's how i was able to restore power twice before it finally went.
Thank you!!!!
And when you say no power, what do you mean, no spark for engine or no power, cause if you mean no power from the battery, you cannot unlock the car, so I assume you mean there is no spark to the engine 😒😢🥴🥵🤒
