My 4 and 1/2 year old grandson heard this at his pre-K class a couple of weeks ago, and has been dancing around and singing it ever since. I showed him this video and he loves it. It is still a good time rock-and-roll hit after all these years.
Carl is still deeply missed. He left this life too soon. The Beach Boys had the most Top 40 hits than any other band in rock history. It's too bad their personal lives were so tragic. I'm happy to know Brian is still alive after fighting a lifetime depression. I can relate to that but it must of been a lot more difficult to live with it in the past.
Just lengarady back then and still lengarady after all these years later god bless you guys thanks you guys rock way to go still going strong way to go appreciate your singing and music you should be amazed and proud way to go !!! Joe
Just great classic music ever by the beach boys still going strong after all these years later appreciate you guys and the memories great job people you should be amazed and proud love and appreciate you guys thanks you guys rock way to go that's how you do it well thanks !!❤😂😂😅 Joe
***** I like everything you said. I graduated high school in '66. They were always around. Fun music. Turns out the beach is my holy land. Then I got into Hendrix and punk and industrial. Going to see Ministry in San Francisco in May. Love them. Still love Brian and the rest of the guys.
Dennis kicked ass. The only true surfer in the group. If you haven't already, check him out in "Two Lane Blacktop." He plays "The Mechanic" opposite James Taylor's "The Driver." Very cool.
I dedicated this song to my sister Robyn. She used to cry that she didn't have a song. So I found this matched her nickname BobbyAnna so we used to dance to this when she was little. I used to have her stand on our old coffee table and we'd swing dance. Now she is I believe 23 years old today. Happy Bday Bobbyanna. Keep on shaking your tail feather 💜
No they didnt you fucking idiot. This song was originally performed in 1958 by a band named the regents and the beach boys simply did a cover of the song.Do you know that a cover is?
in 1965 a couple of months before the record company did an early release of the song. which was the reason why it didn't get the recognition it deserved until today
The beach boys were sitting around and goofing off and came up with Barbara Ann I read it Look it up on their Site. Don't be critical. It's a cool cool song. Makes me dance with fun. Wish it was still. Back then
my mom' name was Barbara Ann Carlson and she was born in 1948 and is still healthy and active. Her naming was just a coincidence since she was born long before the song was written in 1961. Your aunt was likely named after the song, much like my mom's first daughter and my half sister, Jennifer Juniper Lee (who was obviously named after another song because of the Barbara Ann song and my mom). Nobody ever made fun, we all think its funny and awesome
Great performance. Love seeing Brian live on the Bass. Still, it’s ironic that this song charted at number 2, while “Wouldn’t it Be Nice” only made it to number 8. I could see how Brian would find that disappointing as a songwriter
that was only for touring. he still did tv performances with the band until 66/67ish. i believe this was late 1965, because "barbara ann" the single was released in the fall of 65 after Party! came out
his name's Brian Wilson and his life story is amazing, i highly recommend looking it up through documentry, wikipedia, what have ya....you won't regret it.
The single version is actually off of the Beach Boys Party album. It was the group and alot of friends just jamming live in the studio. Dean Torrence from Jan And Dean is singing the falsetto on that track.
I've had this song stuck in my head for a while, and when I hum it, my friend always asks if I'm singing the minions song. This generation just hasn't heard good music.😂😂😂 (Ironic because I'm 13 😅😂😂)
I'm 14 and my school always allows registered guitar players to bring their guitars twice a week. the only freshmen is me and my friend. the other three are seniors. at least they know good music. got love the harmony of I Get Around!👌
GracieGrace Ignore that person. No one should talk like that to anyone, especially not to a 13 year old. Glad you've discovered the joy of the Beach Boys! There's a whole world of good music out there, don't write modern stuff off completely, there's still great bands if you look outside of the charts!
I've been a Beach Boy fan since the early 60's but on this one I'll take the Regents original version, rude, crude and killer saxophone. You youngsters can have this one.
I wonder what % of the people who see this will realize how unbelievably good these guys sound, in a live 4-part harmony performance, with the really horrible sound quality TV had in those days (the reason lip-syncing was invented practically). This was the band that inspired Macca to conceive Sgt Peppers. I saw them live once in about 1966, and they were superb. I think they've become somehow under-rated today. But just listen to records like 'I Get Around', or the amazing 'Darlin''--they are FANTASTIC recordings.
Thanks daveee78, sounds like you know your stuff. You raise a good point to about why people who dislike this song are even here. It may not be their best version, but it is pretty cool to see them live. I have a couple of tapes of the Beach Boys and the Grateful Dead playing together in the late 70's. Needless to say some of the recordings are almost incoherent, but occassionaly, they are spot on. I would have liked to see them both play.
harold sam I'm very sorry. I was having a really rough day and that comment just rubbed me the wrong way. I shouldn't have said that, it was absolutely terrible. Forgive me
+MindFreaksLetsPlays I guess we are all just technically dying slowly... if you think about it, our bodies are very gradually breaking down over every year of our lives until one day, (typically some day decades in the future) we take out last breath. The ones who die the slowest do it at a very old age. Some take a century to die! Anyways i guess what my point is that from one perspective, saying "Die slowly" could also be a way of saying, "be healthy and live long". A more effective insult would be "Die suddenly and soon, but let it be a lengthy and painful final sensory experience". Or maybe "Die presently and draw out the suffering" Or maybe it would be useful to say it using a specific cause of death that is in itself a slow process. For example, "I hope you starve to death and waste away". "Go slit your wrists and hang upside down." "Go sit in your car and run it with your garage door closed' "I hope someone drops you in the Sahara with a pack full of food and no water". I'm sure you could think of lots more. It's sorta fun! So, no harm done here. You were simply wishing him well. By saying "Die Slowly" you meant "live long and prosper". Could i have just kept my comment to the previous two sentences; which states my point simply and short? Yeah, but i felt like typing a reply full of rambling half-nonsense . Forgive me for being a smart ass and butting in a conversation out of nowhere and clogging it with an obnoxious reply! I wish you all a long and healthy fulfilling life.
hum...we're here to talk about music not about what they did...and it's obvious that they're one of the best band in the world! So ,just listen and you'll see that this song is AWESOME!(like almost all of their songs!)
@AJB3 - Brian wouldn't tour with The Beach Boys from December 1964 but would do the odd show here and there plus TV and radio appearances, such as this one.
well the hair sort of sums up where the band was at this point - they had really short hair prior to this - and afterwards they got progressively furrier - here they are in late 65 - Brian is writing Pet Sounds as this is going on - and yet the record company pushed this song as the single for Winter 65 - from the "Party" album - Brian was writing God Only Knows and playing for teen girls at the same time
yes, I believe that's essentially correct. Not sure how much of Pet Sounds he had written at this point, but you could say that much of it was already written somewhere in Brian's head. He had lots of sounds and chords and instrument combinations that he would be working on concurrently in his repertoire. He would often then build on those themes and create beautiful, symphonic music.
0:48 Get 'em, Carl!
0:48
Damn! Brian is hittin those high notes. Really great. :)
My 4 and 1/2 year old grandson heard this at his pre-K class a couple of weeks ago, and has been dancing around and singing it ever since. I showed him this video and he loves it. It is still a good time rock-and-roll hit after all these years.
Fab thats made my days.
This is my favorite version of the song! The way the drums pop out!
Awesome performance and Brian actually looked like he enjoyed performing live on stage.
Am I the only one who finds his voice awesome and hard to imitate ?
Just lengarady back then and still lengarady after all these years later god bless you guys thanks you guys rock way to go still going strong way to go appreciate your singing and music you should be amazed and proud way to go !!! Joe
Just great classic music ever by the beach boys still going strong after all these years later appreciate you guys and the memories great job people you should be amazed and proud love and appreciate you guys thanks you guys rock way to go that's how you do it well thanks !!❤😂😂😅 Joe
My elder sister took me along as a ten year old to see them in concert. They were amazing! I've ever forgotten that night.😊😊
How effing good are the Beach Boys? Damn
I am also Barbara Ann....love this song...saw the Beach Boys in 1990...still awesome!
Jack Benny, those screaming girls, and most of all Mike Love have no idea that Brian was cooking up Pet Sounds in his head at that very moment.
And heading for a major league nervous breakdown.
What a gem so short but so bloody good.
My daughter thought the minions made up the song they sing, so I had to let her hear the original. 😃
Joy Jarvais dude this is a cover. not the original
John Vazquez WTF Do you mean? The beach boys made this song and their singing it.
No they didnt you fucking idiot. This song was originally performed in 1958 by a band named the regents and the beach boys simply did a cover of the song.Do you know that a cover is?
Ok! Sheesh! You don't have get angry! I didn't know. People these days
Mr EMC well then do your research before you post something stupid like saying the beach boys wrote this song
I love Brian's high notes!
in 1965 a couple of months before the record company did an early release of the song. which was the reason why it didn't get the recognition it deserved until today
Thank you Jack for putting this on the air. thank you Brian for being so terrific and thank you nerdescuinapunk for posting this.
I love this song Barbara Ann
The beach boys were sitting around and goofing off and came up with Barbara Ann I read it Look it up on their Site. Don't be critical. It's a cool cool song. Makes me dance with fun. Wish it was still. Back then
its a cover....actually - originally from 1961...
It's a cover.
The Regents did it first.
I'm 11 and I love all these old songs cuz I know the GOOD era of music.

My best friend was named after this song since her parents a huge beach boys fans
No words... Just love.
I bought their album in the 60ies in Italy, more cheeper than in Germany, I was so glad!

Simply awesome.......no more to be said.
Great performance. Love seeing Brian live on the Bass. Still, it’s ironic that this song charted at number 2, while “Wouldn’t it Be Nice” only made it to number 8. I could see how Brian would find that disappointing as a songwriter
i wish the music from the 50's-90's were still being performed today. :(
It is, though?
Do you live in a cave?
A genuine live performance. Bravo!
that was only for touring. he still did tv performances with the band until 66/67ish. i believe this was late 1965, because "barbara ann" the single was released in the fall of 65 after Party! came out
Me and my 1 year old dance to this! Love it :)
his name's Brian Wilson and his life story is amazing, i highly recommend looking it up through documentry, wikipedia, what have ya....you won't regret it.
great great great song.
Heard this today inside a supermarket and instantly remember about Scrubs...seems this was a huge hit when my father was a child...amazing
Wow they actually sound great live. You don't see that nowadays with all of the voice and sound editing going on in the studios.
The single version is actually off of the Beach Boys Party album. It was the group and alot of friends just jamming live in the studio. Dean Torrence from Jan And Dean is singing the falsetto on that track.
how love how all the girls are screaming to this song
such a funny song, and such an anomaly in the beach boys catalogue when you consider the musical direction brian was heading in at the time
THE BEST SONG EVER I LOVE IT SOOOOO MUCH I SING IT IN MY CHOIR !!!!! 😍
I've had this song stuck in my head for a while, and when I hum it, my friend always asks if I'm singing the minions song. This generation just hasn't heard good music.😂😂😂 (Ironic because I'm 13 😅😂😂)

The main singer was Mike Love (the guy without an instrument). The one with the high voice is Brian Wilson, the "brain" behind the group.
Happy Birthday Brian!
that is the greatest brian wilson there will never be anyone better in my eyes, love him
Appearently ladies are most pleased when Brian sings

lol this is the kind of stuff my dad listened to when he was younger lol
if you guys were checking (because all this minion crap) some reruns of saved by the bell bought me here
Lol name is actually Barbara-Ann and I've never thought there 'd be a song with my whole name in it! Thanks Beach Boys!!
i love how girls start screaming when Brian says Barbara ann
At present, it has roughly sixteen times the hits of this video.
woow this song alwaysgets me dancing!! Its actually got the power to do that!!!
Jack Benny introducing The Beach Boys. Too cool for words.
I came here not from seeing a movie, but to relive great times growing up. Kind of like a Stand Be Me childhood.
Dean Torrance from Jan and Dean fame actually did the Falsetto part on the single version. Either way, it was a fun time to listen to fun music.
im 13 and a half and this is the best music i heard this song in the 3rd grade
Wish they had shown the audience. So fun to see the girls go wild.
OH MAN! THIS SONG REMEMBER ME SO MUCH SBRUBS CLASSIC SERIE EVER!
Saved by the bell
This song reminds me of caledesi island in Florida!!!

this song is stuck in my head
I used to sing this song when I was like one. It was the first song I ever heard, haha
I'm a 90s baby and beach boys were my fav!
Oldie but a Goldie
@AJB3 - Brian wouldn't tour with The Beach Boys from December 1964 but would do the odd show here and there plus TV and radio appearances, such as this one.
at the :48 mark...There Is One Talented And Lovely Man!
cool version with drums and full band etc
100 percent live - no backing tracks - no canned vocals - Im not even sure they had playback monitors.......
The crowd screaming was pumped in. Notice of it's only during the loud parts.
well the hair sort of sums up where the band was at this point - they had really short hair prior to this - and afterwards they got progressively furrier - here they are in late 65 - Brian is writing Pet Sounds as this is going on - and yet the record company pushed this song as the single for Winter 65 - from the "Party" album - Brian was writing God Only Knows and playing for teen girls at the same time
Der Bassist is einfach der Burner!! =D
und er spielt mitm Daumen oO
Originally Recorded w/Mr. Dean Torrence On Their Party Album!
This song was written by Fred Fassert and originally performed by the Regents.

That kid with the bass sings pretty and sweet.
