Chevy Impala - How to RECHARGE A/C by Yourself (2006-2016)

  • Step-by-step guide on recharging ac air condition on Chevrolet Impala ( 2006 | 2007 | 2008 | 2009 | 2010 | 2011 | 2012 | 2013 | 2014 | 2015 | 2016 | LS | LT | LTZ | LIMITED ).
    You don't have to pay hundreds of dollars to mechanical shops to re-charge your air conditioning on your Chevy Impala sedan. You can always purchase A/C re charge kit for cars and use R-134a cans to fill it up yourself.
    Always be careful not to overfill the system. Check your owners manual for the AC refrigerant capacity. There should also be a sticker just under the hood with the A/C capacity in your car.
    First time you are recharging A/C might take you a bit longer, but once you learn it, you can use it on every car in just couple of minutes and spend up to $10 per car. If there is an air condition leak, you can try using A/C stop leak can which might seal small leaks. For bigger leaks, you will have to take the vehicle to a professional shop to have it diagnosed.

    You should always shake the can good before attaching. When injecting ac in you turn can from 12 to 3 o'clock not upside down and also continue shaking. Done this for years and if u watch other videos you'll see. 😬😯😬 Glad it worked for you!! Just my experience with mechanics.

    What use is the gauge on the can if you're not going to check if the pressure is in the yellow?

    how do you know that it needs to be recharged or has a leak? i have a chevy impala 2009 that i just got as my first car since someone was selling it. it makes a really annoying clicking noise.

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  25 днів тому

      HI, clicking noise is most likely coming from a failed blend door actuator. If a/c is not working first check the fuses and try to listen if you hear compressor engaging. Then connect recharge hose to get a reading of the amount of refrigerant in the system. If it is low it needs to be recharged or there might be a leak as well. For a leak detection you would have to take the vehicle to a certified shop as they can use special equipment and dye to determine the location of the leak

  • @macwright3925

    Man I have a 2013 and my AC won't turn on at all!! It would cut on Then now it's off completely..I just had a new born baby so I can't have her in the car with the way this heat is goin on..what do you Think is the problem I hope it's the fuse or something

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  2 роки тому +2

      You'll have to try and diagnose it. Start by checking the fuses, then make sure the a/c is charged up and there is no leaks. If all good, next step is to check the a/c compressor. Also try looking for shops in your area that do free diagnostics. In my area there is bunch of mobile a/c guys that come to your house and do free inspection of the a/c system and quote you for the work needed

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  2 роки тому +1

      You probably didn't get a good connection at the low pressure port. Some of these recharge hoses don't really like to sit on the port, try pushing it on a bit harder to make sure it sits. This is the best I can tell you

  • @Acelee6
    @Acelee6 3 роки тому +1

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  3 роки тому +3

      6 blinks usually means low pressure in the system so it gets disabled until it gets serviced / charged

    • @ovechkin0218

      If recharge doesnt work, it is most likely an a/c compressor issue

    • @lucidpianist1284
      @lucidpianist1284 2 роки тому +1

      @@ovechkin0218 More than likely it would be the compressor clutch. They are common in impalas to go bad overtime. I had to change mine out because my car had the same issue.

    I have no heat tho. Both heater core hoses are hot coming out the firewall but still no heat. Is there a door in front of the heater core that need be open??

    • @QuiteAlright
      @QuiteAlright  2 роки тому +2

      You might have an issue with the heater blend door actuator. If it is stuck at cold, you won't get any heat in. That is a common problem

      @-KingOfKhaos 2 місяці тому

      @@QuiteAlrightI have the opposite issue… AC works on passenger side but driver side is simply blowing hot air from outside. Fun times. 😅

    • @QuiteAlright

      @@-KingOfKhaos Most likely temperature blend door actuator failed and it is not registering when you change the temp controls to cold air

    • @-KingOfKhaos
      @-KingOfKhaos 2 місяці тому

      @@QuiteAlright I actually just charged it, and both sides are blowing 39 degrees F, which is 35 degrees cooler than when I started charging… so for now it seems it may have just been coolant related? I thought for sure it would be a door actuator like you mentioned as well… frankly I think there still may be a door actuator issue but if at least one side is blowing just above freezing and the driver side is blowing close to that, I will take it as a win lol
