I worked for a Cadillac dealer, Hamilton Motor Products in Hamilton, Ontario in 1970. The people I worked with were knowledgeable professionals and I still remember driving the great cars we repaired. I finally bought a 1971 Eldorado convertible when I became sixty five. This car gives me pleasure just to go into the garage and admire it. It is a work of art. I am seventy two now.
RobertBOUSKILL way to go! I'm gonna buy a 59' Eldorado when I get the chance! Money isn't an issue, just need to find a seller! I love the huge tailfins on those things! Absolutely stunning!
I always though the 71-74 Eldorado looked best in a convertible, something about the lines of the roof in the car, plus it had working back side windows, Never cared for the 75-78 Eldorado, and I must not be alone as the Lincoln marks outsold the Eldorado those years
My Pop loved Cadillac and had many over the years. His all time favorite was his black 56 Coupe DeVille. That automobile was leap years ahead of its time. I actually found one in okey doke shape and was trying to buy it to restore for his birthday. The owner wasn't doing anything with it, but just wouldn't let it go. Unfortunately my Pop had a severe stroke around then and passed away two years later at 83. I so wished that I had run across this earlier that he could have enjoyed it once again.
So sorry to hear about your pops sir, he sounds like he had an exquisitely classy taste in cars. My sincerest apologies and prayers to you. I too am a longtime fan of Cadillac, I inherited the love of the brand from my Grandpa and my pops. I recently (about 1 1/2 years ago.) got my dream caddy which is a '16 Cadillac ATS AWD V6. I was so damn proud of myself for getting my hands on one of my dreams.
Grew up with Cadillac's as a kid in the late 80s and early 90s. Great cars my grandmother still has her 1992 which she got pre owned in 1993 she just turned 94 and she and that Cadillac is still running..lol
1/20/18, I had a 2002 DTS, new; worst pos I ever had, overpriced/overrated, kept it 13 years until it just wasn't worth servicing anymore. Now I have a 2015 Ford Taurus.
My mom had a 92 sedan Deville. ..I used to drive the shit out of that 4.9liter.....I personally have a ctsv...as a kid everybody in my family had a caddy, grandma, uncle, aunt, mom, dad, and the were divorced....
Jesus Hernandez Buy a classic Cadillac once you graduate, it will go up in value! The 1957 convertibles have been steadily gaining in value and they're gorgeous. Same with the '67 Eldorados. Not difficult to get parts for, you'll stand out in the crowd & the ladies dig em.
I'm hoping Cadillac will bring back the Eldorado by the end of the decade, because I really want one. And I had no idea that Cadillac had been around for 115 years, longer than Ford. Learn new things every day.
I've had Europeans, Japanese cars and they all were favourites of the serbice department, monthly grrrr. I'm on my second ATS and ... wow: it rides like a bat out of hell, leaving those pretentious germans in the dust and so reliable, it's incredible.
I'm glad y'all uploaded this I've always been a huge Cadillac fun. I remember the day I got My '16 ATS coupe, in Eclipse Black of course, I almost cried it was like a dream come true. That car is my baby! I got the AWD 3.6L V6, I have some cam work done and an upgraded exhaust with a performance tune. believe it or not it'll eat up N/A 5.0 Mustangs, SS Cameros and RT Challengers all day!! It's definitely one of the fastest luxury sleepers on the market right now!
3:02-3:24 It's time for a petition drive to force Cadillac to PUT THE DAMN DUCKS BACK. If I buy a Caddy, I want one that zigs, or at least one with a badge that has some character. A name that wasn't chosen from a bowl of alphabet soup would be nice as well.
I have 2 Caddies... A 2003 CTS (first year of the CTS and it's a 5-speed stick, on the floor) and an 1981 Eldorado Biarritz (complete with button leather, a stainless steel top and Vogue whitewalls... with the gold line!!!)... LOVE 'EM BOTH!!! God bless America!!!
I bought my first Cadillac when I was 19 years old, 1976 Coupe de Ville ( in mint condition) kept it for 12 years. I'm now 63 years old and on my 8th Cadillac which is a 2009 Escalade that I ordered (today it has less than 47,000 miles), I still have 2 others left which I gave to my sons, 2009 STS and 2007 SRV, I've always been a GM person except when I bought the Mercedes C300, didn't like it. My next Vehicle, hopefully soon will be another Escalade only the extended version. Out of all the GM vehicles that I bought I always went back to the Cadillac's, absolutely love them.
chavillac king they ruined everything when they decided not to let that 16 concept go to production The world still could use a 16 especially if it was not powered on fossil fuels
I drove my first Cadillac in 1979 a Cadillac Coupe Deville while on summer holiday in the USA and that early experience cemented my love of Cadillacs I havê owned Eldorados and Fleetwoods and really like the CTS ,V. even if I own.other brands such as Rolls Royce there will be a Cadillac in the garage as well. Superb cars even with all the other brands available in the world. Great tp hear of sales success in China belated 115th anniversary wishes to "Cadillac" still the standard of the world a real car for real car drivers.
Been A Cadillac pilot since 1974, thanks to the "Oil Embargo". Back then everyone was trading in their beautiful Cadillacs for MPG mobiles. I got my 1st white '62 Coupe DeVille for a my trade-in beat-up rust bucket '59 Kharmann Ghia. 14 Cadillacs later, I now drive a couple of '81 Eldorados. My latest is a Sable black '81 Biarritz with wire wheels, continental kit, tinted glass. Cadillac is the Best!
favorite Cadillac is the Ctsv Coupe! i want that and a V sport for rainy days. But if GM makes me the Escala... ohhhh boy then i gotta drop everything to buy one. Cant wait to get my hands on a Caddy!!
So, a lot of correct information here but some not! One is the 1957 Biarritz for Queen Elizabeth which had a full clear bubble top, but then they show a 1959 Fleetwood with rear cabriolet top. I think other than the mispronunciation of the Cadillac makes, the most interesting was the 57-58 Eldorado which was shown!! Did anyone else notice that it is a RHD car? As was the Bentley S1 it was compared to. Now if this was a photograph and not a video, i would have thought the photo had been reversed. A man from my town had a 1970 Fleetwood factory converted to a RHD car before he moved to Australia and took the car with him!
I drove my 2002 Sedan De Ville till Nov. 2017. 135,000 miles when the transmission went out. Found another 2002 with only 73,000 miles in like new condition. It was like getting on a comfortable pair of shoes when I sat down in it. I'll drive it the rest of my life!
If I ever I make any money, I want to purchase a 1947 or 1948 Cadillac limousine. I have adored the body style for decades, since I was a young boy. I would hire a driver when I needed to go out to drive me about in it and to maintain it for me. I am now 78 years of age. The Cadillac limousine is the car of my dreams!
After many years (and cars) I'm the proud owner of TWO Cadillacs... a 2003 CTS Luxury Sport 5-Speed (stick shift) and a 1981 Eldorado Biarittz (complete with stainless steel top / moon roof / landau vinyl rear). LOVE them both... high maintenance, tho...
You did a good job but you forgot to mention they had a separate brand along side Cadillac from 1927-1940 model years called LaSalle also named after a Spanish explorer. It was a companion brand for lower priced luxury market, I found one and was able to acquire a '39 model Lasalle when I was 20, im 27 now and still enjoy finding new Cadillac videos to feed my car interests. Thanks!
Cadillac a company that started with Henry Ford and stood at the top of the automotive world. Hope to see the day when Cadillac and Lincoln return to glory.
15 things you didn't know about Cadillac #1 115 yrs company #2 Founded in Detroit Michigan #8 Cadillac 1st. Motor Trend Magazine. Cadillac is the best Brand ,I owned a 1972 Cadillac coupe paid $300 leather seats,a/c, 8 track, power windows. V8 engine ran on regular gas. note I would buy a Cadillac....
The last really nice full size Cadillac was the 2006-20?? DTS! My uncle had one with an off white color and tan seats chrome wheels and of course with him it was the best one. I LoVeD that car and drove them in it many times. They would still have it (low miles) if it hadn't been totaled(hit deer) We all still miss that wonderful car. It was his sixth new Cadillac. All of the them were DeVille or DTS except one...El Dorado. He's too old had a stroke so that was his last Cadillac. Not a huge fan of the XTS, but it's still nice. I like the new CTS better...make the XTS's look like it only bigger? Just some thoughts. A little story. When I rode in one of my first Cadillac's as a young teen (80's navy Fleetwood Brougham) I was so excited that I could barely talk. #greatCaddymemory
Makes a video about Cadillac... Doesn't know how to pronounce "Brougham" I don't need to watch the rest of the video, thank you for putting that early in the video!
7:52 - hand cranks springing back could break arms. A friend of Leland died of sepsis from such an injury; that sobering sadness spurred his invention of electric starters.
Had a 2014 ATS Premium loved it with a V6 I truly regret selling it. My pop's had a 1970 Cadillac Fleetwood freaking loved it he let me drive it when I was in Highschool for prom night with my girlfriend at the time that ride was so cool
Anyone else notice IN THIS VIDEO that the number#5 CAR, The CADILLAC Eldorado "Brougham", was a RIGHT HAND DRIVE VEHICLE???? That's NUTS!! I'm wondering if I'm the only one that noticed that. Good episode however!! 👍 and yes I would give my left one for a CTSV special edition!!
I had a 1994 Fleetwood but had to junk it in 2013 because the brakes went very bad and I crashed.I am okay today. It was a good car before the brakes went bad
I got curious about the car built for the Queen's Canadian visit in '57 and what happened to it. I can's seem to find anything about it other than photos of the visit that include the car. It's like it disappeared and no one seems to be interested in it. Also found numerous references to the Caddy she used in a later visit to Canada in 1959. This is really strange and intrigues me to no end. Also number 14 about the first woman designer starts out with a picture on a LaSalle, a car manufactured by Cadillac but not actually a Cadillac depending on how you look at it.
Did some one not know that the1859 Eldorado Birritz was one of Cadillac top price car for the time and the cost of a use one can cost more than 300K and thats for one in good shape.

I’ve got my 1st Cadillac - 2007 STS - and I love it!
Yes indeed! I have three Cadillacs in my fleet and plan to add more! They are amazing and beautiful cars!
I'm hoping Cadillac will bring back the Eldorado by the end of the decade, because I really want one.
And I had no idea that Cadillac had been around for 115 years, longer than Ford. Learn new things every day.
I agree. Never had an Eldorado. Owned many other Caddys, and currently drive an Escalade, but the Eldorado has always been my dream car.
Why don't you just by a 70's eldorado?
I've had Europeans, Japanese cars and they all were favourites of the serbice department, monthly grrrr. I'm on my second ATS and ... wow: it rides like a bat out of hell, leaving those pretentious germans in the dust and so reliable, it's incredible.
Cadillac is pretty innovative more then I expected
I love a Cadillac Escalade and Car as well

1959 Eldorado Biarritz is the definition of "if perfect was a car".

Not mentioned that Cadillac pioneered the synchronized gear manual transmission. No grinding of gears and no double-clutching when shifting.

How is that 81 V864 holding up Sir???
My Dad was a Cadillac owner, and had many , my last was a 97 Deville with a console and floor shift, love em to this day
My 6th cousin (4Xs removed), Henry Martyn Leland, founded Cadillac. I am on my 7th Cadillac and wouldn't drive any other brand.
Wayne Johnson funny thing is, Henry M. Leland also founded Lincoln in 1917 I believe
You are correct. Ford kicked him out because their ideas were different.
Drove a Cadillac Coupe deVille 1972 two Days Ago and fell in Love. 🥰
Didn't JFK have a Lincoln Continental when he got shot?
We still have a 2008 STS and it still purrs like a kitten ! My favorite car ever!
I bought my first Cadillac when I was 19 years old, 1976 Coupe de Ville ( in mint condition) kept it for 12 years. They need a halo sedan and coupe better than a Rolls Royce.
amen to that they need to drop that concept they keep showing
now that would be a badass halo car
chavillac king they ruined everything when they decided not to let that 16 concept go to production
The world still could use a 16 especially if it was not powered on fossil fuels
Raymond Jones You are absolutely right. The bean counters are stifling their greatness!

The stated "57 Eldorado" may have been designed for the Canadian visit but the bubble topped car in the clip is clearly a 1959 Fleetwood limousine.

Great history of a great car
I always wanted a Cadillac, always out of my price range for sure.

I would give just about anything to own a 1965 two door Cadillac (just like the one my father had)! That was a car!
cool info, but what about the Cadillac Sixteen prototype? :)
Cadillac a company that started with Henry Ford and stood at the top of the automotive world. Hope to see the day when Cadillac and Lincoln return to glory.
There will never be another automobile in the class of Cadillac.

Cool little video, but I’m pretty sure JFK and Lincoln Continental go together historically.
I heard that they also were the first to have rear view mirrors. If so it should have been included.
Lifelong enthusiast of the brand.
in number 10 the car you showed was a '59 i think not a '57
JKRACING 23
Correct!
The first green car was a 57. But the black bubble roof was a 59.
1/20/18, The "night vision" feature didn't work so well, the $1,000 option was soon discontinued. I bought a new a 2002 DTS. I didn't get that.
Love cadillac
Can you do a video about Michael Schumacher??
Hi! Whose voice do they use in the Alux vidoes(narrator)
My family has used to have three cadilacs one gold and one red and the other one silver colored
Cadillac was first with tilt/telescopic steering wheels in 1965. They were manually operated.
This channel is the best on UA-cam!!
