I'm old school and so I bought the Tweedy and the Jackman II to run side by side run into a massive Baldwin organ dual channel tube amp for Fender & Marshall tones!
Im in Malaysia for 15 years now - but my daughter lives in Australia & she bought this for me for my las tbirthday - its real kickass with a great shapable tone and very versatile- it forces you kind of learn to tweak guitar volume & tone - which everyone should anyways! Its a great amp - cheap & light weight - and nice honest review! thank you
Shane, thank you for showing the clean channel full up! I like having a little crunch there. EVERY other You Tube review has the guy showing the clean channel for two seconds up to noon then immediately jumping to the OD channel, and I’m like WTF?!
I own a Jackman xl (JCM800 version) and had the original version as well. It’s one of the best sounding amps I’ve ever played thru and comes closer to my old Marshalls than almost any other amp I’ve used. I’ve used it in band practices and gigged with it. Just a wonderful little amp. Remember that it gets the more power thru an 8 ohm cab over a 16 but is still plenty loud. Thanks for this review.
Bet it looks great on top of a 4 X 12!! I've got enough amps as it is, but this on top of a 1x10 or 12 in the lounge wd make a bit of room (& way more sense!).
Shane, a great demo. I have combined a Tweedy and a Jackman into a DIY cab with 4 x 10" Celestion speakers. With a ABY peddle, an EQ and a couple of micro effect peddles, has given me tone versatility with health benefits for my 66 year old back. Again, great demo! Cheers.
I always like Joyo more than many other companies in China that are doing guitar effects. Nowadays so many of them are focusing more on the digital, tech-feel stuff(and they have great products), but only Joyo have kept the original aspiration for guitar players: affordable tube amps, simple functioning pedals that are just true to the sound.
This is a killer little amp. I had Ric over to test it the other day. There's a shot video coming up of him blasting it through the Marshall 2x12 cab. Crazy stuff :)
Shane, I’m happy to see you still have that Hagerman Amp on your shelf. I purchased the half watt Hagerman Amp and it can easily drive my 1x12 Vintage 30 cabinet just fine. I love that little thing! Looking to buy another, but in a wood case like yours.
I really liked what I was hearing and decided to guess on price before looking it up and thought it was gonna be like $500 US. Was shocked to see I could get one new for under $200. That's amazing.
I didn't think I'd be using the bluetooth option but now I use a lot for practicing mostly because the latency is very low compared to other devices. It is a very useful and solid sounding head. Thankfully you can unscrew the logo faceplate, it's only cosmetic and it looks cleaner w/out it and makes does it lighter.
It amazing me how good the Joyo Bantamp amps sound. Ive been curious about them for years now, but never bought one to check them out for myself. The Jackman II, Tweedy, and Zombie II are all really cool. I hope they expand their v2's to get the Atomic in the mix as well
I really like the way you break down all the sounds, showing where you've dialled it, and also on the guitar... Your explanation and breakdown, and demo of the amps capability is great Shane! I've been looking at this amp as basic guitar amp with a vintage speaker box for jam guitar setup (as a bassplayer lol)
Awesome riffs, watched/listened while doing some chores and now i really wanna look this lil thing up... and now i also.wamma watch more reviews just to hear more jams while i do laundry... Cheer
Got the Joyo DC-15. Gotta' say it rocks. Plus, it has 9 amp settings, decent effects, looper, and drum patterns. Looper does not sync with drums however. It does get a decent loud clean besides all the other amp selections and the battery lasts a whole gig plus. Very nice power with good full range speaker response. This is a Cafe guitarist/singer dream come true. All at less than one square foot. Had no troubles with a Tele, Strat, SG, LP, PRS, Schecter, Ibanez, Yamaha, Carter Classic, Sawtooth, etc. Cheers.
Got the 2 best Joyo's, the Jackman and the Tweedy. Jackman goes into aSupro 2x12, and Tweedy into a 4x12 Egnater with vintage celestions. Neither amp seems to like the other cab. Tweedy is great with P90's, Jackman likes them too, but is really a Bucker fiend. Jackman is not much chop with single coils, but the Tweedy likes them. Oh, i also run a Vox supe beetle head through either cab, it LOVES Teles, real Quo machine!
These amps have made the rounds for quite a few years now and while they do sound great (I'm a fan of the Blues Junior, and AC30 models) I think Joyo needs to re-release these in pedal format, tube and all. I think they can do it. I mean, the top part of the mini amp is nothing more than to house a 12AX7 tube upright. There's no need for that, I am sure they can figure out how to house it horizontally and turn this amp into a pedal format. Sounds great, though!
I just bought the JCM 800 clone, after swapping out the generic tube for a burnt in vintage Marshall 12ax7, and running and 10 band EQ pedal in the FX loop, and it sounds amazing, good little amp, very happy 😊
Love joyos stuff - got the 2x12 Joyo cab powered by joyo bluejay and zombie (each side) and sounds rad! Got the 2x12 cab after watching your review Shane - zero regrets!
I gig with this and jackman. And the cab I have all kinds of Tube amps, Vintage Boogies, Marshall's and more. I haven't played one of them live and over a year. Especially with going to in ear monitors these rigs are amazing. I'm also an Osiamo artist, I never thought in my wildest dreams that this would become my main rig. But it's a beast
I've had the Tweety in my cart on amazon for about a month now. Getting back into playing after about 8 years. But I made the decision for the Blues Deluxe Reissue. Going to install a Swamp Thang speaker when it arrives tomorrow after watching your video Texas Heat vr Swamp Thang.. But the tweety is a great option for sure. Was really leaning towards it.
The Swamp Thang Speaker is an awesome upgrade. I still have that in mine all these years later. You'll find you can way better make use of the EQ on the amp.
Nice. I got one of the Joyo "BlueJay" versions of the little 20W lunchbox amps. The BlueJay is a single channel without overdrive, and I like it. It has gain, tone, and volume knobs (and bright boost switch), but even with the gain all the way up its only barely getting into breakup. Nice amp to use with pedals - which I my usual approach. I paired mine with a Jensen C8R 8" speaker and it sounds good. I tried it with a 12" speaker too but didn't like the sound as much.
sounds impressive. although it has a 12ax7 in the preamp, it's output is still solid state and not supposed to be compatible with a captor - x. The manual to the captor x clearly states NOT to be connected to solid state amps.
I have a Joyo Meteror which has Orange amp tones, supposedly. I play it thru my Orange 12" cab with Celestian Vintage speaker. I really like it. The Tweedy will be my next amp. Im over buying finicky and expensive tube amps.
I've been waiting for someone to A/B this amp and the BlueJay, which I have. I use it through a Jet City 212 Eminence loaded closed back cab for deep cleans. Thinking about swapping the tube for a 12AY7 for more clean volume. These BantAmps are such a great deal, I have 3 of them. I just wish Joyo would make more BantBags....very hard to find.
Shane I use one with a 4x12 Marshall 8ohm it’s really really loud with good headroom but I use the Marshall one tgd Jackman if you want super clean loud pedal platform the bluejay has it in spades no overdrive a bright and normal but it takes overdrives really well no gain on the amp comes in till very late through the 4x12 I have done hugs to over 500 ppl no issues . Hey man, if you're not put off by the idea of doing some craft work and using some power tools, look into some videos and articles of people's custom can builds. You can even buy a pre cut cabinet, some have the spot for your speakers pre cut and others do not. Basically you can choose to do a full custom build or just buy a pre fab cabinet and then decide what speakers u want and pop it together. I ended up taking a crack at it and found myself enjoying it way to much lol. I spent a lot of time to make it perfect and then when I would finish one, I'd realize there was something else I could do or add that would be awesome. Here I am, 3 years later, and I have built 22 custom cabs and it's changed my guitar playing lifestyle haha. I still can't believe I get to play real vintage fenders now... because I decided to be a cheap ass and build my own Cab haha
@@nickdrey1200 nice! Some days that sounds like fun. When I do the math, I’m better off buying one than buying the tools/ materials I’d need to make one. Of course, the more you make the better the economy becomes. I can’t see myself building more than one…
@@Newnodrogbob lol I understand your sentiment, entirely haha. Prior to the cabs, the last thing I attempted to make from wood was a stool in my 10th grade wood shop and it was a stool in only the most abstract sense haha. So that should kind of outline my level of audacity at just going for it lmao
Hey Shane. Have you ever tried the Vox MV50? You should grab one and demo it. I've been using the Clean version for a few years now through a 4ohm single 12 inch Jensen speaker...so I get the full 50 watts. It takes pedals quite well. My whole rig-amp and pedals are on one pedalboard.
Hey Shane, you being someone who plays alot of live gigs, do you think this could keep up with a drummer in a band situation? And do you think this would make a good backup amp if your main amp fails?
In most situations the drive channel is loud enough or the clean channel with pedals. The clean channel isn't the loudest out there but it really kicks it up a notch with the drive channel volume when you start pushing the gain a bit.
UA-cam Face” is the physical manifestation of clickbait. It’s the inevitably result of a competitive, algorithm-based landscape like UA-cam where authenticity is shrugged off in favor of hive-mind-approved branded content
these are not really good amps at all, they are unreliable, the headroom is very low, and once they fail, they are basically junk cause there's no way to repair them.
I bought a brand-new DSL 40 that didn't last two weeks and then spent 3 weeks getting fixed. I own 8 tube amps and only one didn't need fixed within 3 years. I have spent over $1,500 dollars repairing tube amps These cost the price of a pedal you probably need to have realistic expectations

it's pronounced 'joe -yo', not 'joy -oh' but I agree, they are awesome value.
I used to say that, then everyone corrected me 😂🤷🏻♂️
@@intheblues damned if ya do, damned if ya don't...

Zombie II is better I don't use pedals anymore
needs a speaker for the review dude. It must be garbage.
UA-cam Face” is the physical manifestation of clickbait. It’s the inevitably result of a competitive, algorithm-based landscape like UA-cam where authenticity is shrugged off in favor of hive-mind-approved branded content
I have the 10 watt joyo battery operated practice amp. Doesnt work with batteries anymore. Nobody can fix it. I dont trust joyo products Chinese
I liked your 'old voice' more. Throw this mic away ;)
I'm using it for background noise reasons.
Why the cheap gear all the time ?
these are not really good amps at all, they are unreliable, the headroom is very low, and once they fail, they are basically junk cause there's no way to repair them.
