I’ll have to wait for some real footage of mowing wet overgrown grass. I seen the test footage against the Honda petrol mower. But I’m not convinced.. they didn’t mention what rpm’s the Honda was set at. When I got my Honda the rpm’s were set to 2800.. most contractors will adjust the rpm’s straight up to 3600. The difference between 2800 to 3600 is night and day. So if the test mower was set at 2800 then it’s already an unreliable test. As a contractor I’m happy to pay a premium price for a battery mower and really looking forward to making the switch. But it needs to hit 3600 rpm, have more torque then the Honda 216 and have a runtime of at least 30 minutes going through the worst of the worst. If they can give me that. I’ll buy it.
They should hurry up and expand the mx line and make an mx push mower riding 0 turn mower' mx 32" snow blower, mx rototiller, mx 4000psi pressure washer, mx 20" chainsaw and leaf blower with 1200 cfm!
I just discovered this existed. I waited for this mower for years but I eventually had to upgrade and this didn’t exist. Seeing the price and the inability to buy this without batteries, I am glad I purchased the Ego for $750. The battery is great and charges fully in less than an hour and lasts me more than I need. I also like how the Ego seems to fold easier and the plastic deck won’t rust. I was a bit skeptical of the all plastic design but it’s holding up well. The self propelled is also easier to use with the ego. However, the lights on the Milwaukee are nice. Kind of disappointed with Milwaukee on this product but at least it hasn’t made me regret buying the ego.
this kinda reminds me of my honda mower, the grey steel deck, the rear wheel drive and variable speed control look similar, also the handle adjustment knob. i wonder if they worked with Honda or whoever designs Honda mowers.
Wow you guys did not save any pains and melted all that snow just so you test this mower! Nice work ;) Would be nice to see a hardcore test in very tall grass!
What I want to know is how much performance (RPM, torque, whatever measurement you want to use) that I would be sacrificing by using some standard XC 5.0’s or even the 6 or 8 ah high outputs instead of this. Obviously my runtime would be way down using the XC 5.0’s but if I have 6 5.0 batteries, I don’t care as the end user to have to switch in the middle of the cut rather than drop $500 on two batteries
Excellent review. I like the lawnmower so I just picked up one at Northern tools. By far the best price on this particular lawnmower. I will try it with the original blade, but I will get the high lift blade next weekend. Looks very solid. I had an EGO 8.3 torque with the 10AH battery. It was a total disappointment because even when I went forward and backwards it left an excessive amount of stragglers. Hate it. So I return it and got this Milwaukee M18 2823-22HD.
I "had" to buy an electric mower last year due to shoulder surgery and not being able to do the pull cord anymore. If Milwaukee would have had a mower I would have bought it since I have Milwaukee tools and a variety of batteries. I was wondering when you put batteries in, do they have to be the same amperage? I've had some of my friends ask if a battery power mower last long enough? My answer has been "I last long enough for me" since I'm getting a little older and don't want/can't mow my yard in one 2 hour session. It gives me a reason to come in and take a break. Great video review. As soon as my Ego battery dies, I'll be getting a Milwaukee, hopefully a second generation when they come out.
I’ve never in my life felt the urge to mow at nighttime or early mornings lmao 🤣 If I am I need a med adjustment! If I ever spend $1K on a push mower I need stronger Meds! 😆 BTW my $400 Honda that I bought 8 years ago still starts on the 1st Pull & will probably go another 8 years!
I just replaced my old lawn mower. My decision was down to this Milwaukeed and the Honda HRX. I decided to go Milwaukee and let me tell you, this is one fine lawn mower and I don't regret my decision one bit. Quiet and powerful.
@@Jellyballs Yes. On my 3rd season this year. Batteries still holding up well and the mower still working great. No way would I go back to gas. My mowable lawn is about 5000 sq/ft
If your yard is small, you could easily use their 8amp batteries same power, less run time, how long does it usually take to mow your lawn? Your could probably get 30 minutes out of those if you are cutting 2.5" inches or less. Milwaukee will be launching a 15amp battery soon which will be ideal for commercial applications for this mower. But many homeowners will buy this as well and that size of battery is overkill for them. The new generation from 6-12amp/hrs all have the better 21700 cells so you get the same level of power. But if you think you are going to use the older 5amp batteries from your drill kits...don't, it will make the machine under perform at every level.
@@nelsonreau3842 Thanks for the heads up, I shall have to run out and get a job at Targets now. Yes Milwaukee tools are badass, I own several of their M18 Fuel line.
I own couple of milwaukee like blower chainsaw edge trimmer two redlithium 12.0 m18 and more and then I'm looking at this lown mower for about a year to be honest 😂 and still i think is quiet expensive plus the battery you need to buy separately that can go up too 2000 easy so yeah still waiting to get it cheaper 😂
This might be a pretty lengthy review, but I want to give an average homeowners perspective. I was leery of trying another electric mower after being less than impressed with an Ego. A few years ago I bought what was at the time the second from the top of the line Ego, which was rated at 7.0 ft. Lbs. of torque. It was very underwhelming, and I doubted the torque numbers based on gas mowers i had owned that had the same amount of torque. I have a lawn that’s a little over a quarter acre maybe .26 or .27. The Ego produced lots of clumps even after trying the different blades it came with, and I had to mow very slowly to prevent this. It also could not mow my entire yard without draining the battery. It died after completing about 90% of my lawn. After watching about every review of the Milwaukee on UA-cam I decided to give it a chance. I know 1100 is a lot to spend on a residential mower which is what I consider this thing, not using it commercially for cleanup where the zero-turns can’t reach. After my initial mow I can say that this is a keeper for sure as long as it holds up. I dont usually bag, preferring instead to side discharge and then rake. For the sake of this review I decided to bag the clippings from my front lawn which is about 65 % of my lot. The grass wasn’t exactly wet but still had a lot of moisture from three days of showers which had ended a few days previously. I had it set on the second from lowest setting and was probably cutting from two to three inches of grass. It handled this with ease and never kicked into high rpm mode. I should mention that i mowed with the speed barely at three on the dial. I mowed the side and the back with side discharge and the back wasn’t very tall but still wet with morning dew. When i was done it had at least 25% juice left if the gauge is linear. It had two bars still lit but the third bar had been on for a good while so I dont think it would have been long before it was down to one bar. I wanted an electric that would mow my entire lawn on one charge and that had ample power. This thing appears to be as powerful as advertised. I think if I mowed dry grass and used side discharge and then raked as I usually do It might only use half the charge or a little more. The cut quality was fantastic and the only stragglers i had were areas that I missed. There was zero clumping, it never bogged down once. It’s a lot of money for sure, and I wasn’t sure it was going to perform up to my expectations, but it did. I can honestly say the cut quality is better than any gas mower i’ve ever owned. If you can justify the cost you can’t go wrong.
Torn between waiting for this mower or buying the EGO LM2135SP. Whichever I end up getting I also intend to get the same platform blower and string trimmer/edger. Any insight? Not a business just working in my own yard and my tools need a serious upgrade. I like the Milwaukee mower but like the EGO 765 CFM blower. My lawn isn't huge, 2500 sq. ft. so both are overkill but they are the two I am looking at.
Now if they’re touting this as a commercial unit I trust it is 100% waterproof meaning that the electronics would be isolated from any type of water. Is this correct? This would be a dealbreaker for me if it isn’t. Seeing how it can be out on a job or on a trailer and experience substantial rain at times. I mean it’s a lawn mower. Not a screw gun that can easily be stowed in a dry area.
Been holding off buying an electric mower until Milwaukee came out with theirs. May pick this up once it goes on sale eventually or my current gaser kicks the bucket
I held out for years but my gas mower broke last year and I had to get a new one. I just discovered Milwaukee released this but I have no regrets with the brushless Ego self propelled mower I got. It cuts through super tall grass with ease and super fast at the fastest self propelled speed.
Why not show it being used in the long grass you mentioned rather than on grass that isn’t much of a challenge? You had done the testing, why not show it?
Yeah I was gonna buy one till I saw the price. I guess it would be worth it if it had a lifetime warranty or something. Then if u have to buy two 12.0 batteries, there another $600 bucks
The only thing stopping me from buying an electric mower is the batteries. To buy enough batteries to be able to mow all day I’d spend more than a gas mower
I want one but man that thumb trigger looks annoying af. Why wouldn't they put a click and hold trigger like the M18 grinder? Under the fingers or something, anything but what they did. Instead you've gotta hold your thumb on it while holding in the bar as well... wtf? I probably won't get one just for that reason
I can't recall one time i couldn't use a gas mower. Battery mowers are cool but have a bunch of disadvantages compared to a gas. I see them more as a homeowners mower than a lawn business mower
The hilarious part is that Milwaukee excluded the residential buyer with their 1k price tag to appeal to pros who wont buy nearly the number homeowners would at a better price point.
@@jl9362 I dont see it being over priced. It's a big investment, but Milwaukee has great tools. I would expect that mower to last 10 years in a homeowner setting, easy. That's $100 a year and there is no carburetor problems, gas storage, oil changes. All you have to do is remember to charge the batteries, and dont store them in the shed in the winter.
@@zachdemand4508 the mower, perhaps, maybe even longer, the real question boils down to battery life and performance over time. The 12 ah is expensive for just 1. I don't see this setup working well commercially unless strictly for small lawns. Had the price been around $799 as is I'd strongly consider for my home use though
@@Richard-xo2uv I work commercial lawn care. We dont use a push mower for anything unless no other equipment can be used. And even then a trimmer is usually more efficent. Just to give you an idea, last year we used less than 3 gallons of gas per week in the push mower and approximately 15 gallons of fuel per day in the other equipment. One of these mowers could easily replace our current push mower. If this really is marketed towards commercial lawn care the price is very appropriate. We had a push mower from x mark that cost $2200 and it was the biggest piece of shit I have ever used. I'm actually looking forward to more reviews on this thing.
Thanks for the video review... saw your Makita 21" video as well. Which more do you prefer outta those 2? Also, have you tired the Dewalt RWD w/ the 60V 12ah
Good looking mower and I’m a Milwaukee guy but I’m also a professional landscaper. I will continue to use a gas mower for as long as California lets me use one. The grass you cut was not really that tall and it wasn’t wet. I’ve got the entire Milwaukee quick lock system and the m18 chainsaw. The string trimmer overheats every time when cutting thick weeds on a warm day. My m18 chainsaw drains a battery fast when making big cuts and I’ve overheated it as well. I used to use an ego lawn mower on the job and I was much happier after getting a simple toro gas 190cc mower. The battery stuffs great for small jobs but it doesn’t work very well for a someone with a large property. For a professional using only battery tools is crippling. These bastards in California have banned the sale of all small gas engines 2024.
@@Absolutely_Nobody I also have the same issue with my Milwaukee string trimmer. In 20 C / 68 F weather in Central NY state it might go 30 minutes, and when one gets to 30 C / 84 F, about 20 minute or less run time. Even my Makita x2 couple shaft has overheat issues - especially with the pole pruner. Yes, I did try talking to Milwaukee customer service, but I didn't get anywhere.
There are some impressive commercial grade electric lawnmowers available which I've heard amazing things about. This Milwaukee is more targeted for the homeowner
Has anyone seen 'approved' methods to clean it, being an electric. Obviously don't fill the battery compartment with water, but what are the restrictions to hosing out the deck underneath? BTW it has so much self propel torque it can pull you off balance easily if you're not paying attention... it cut all but 4 stripes of 5500 sqft of the first overgrown mow with the bagger using 8ah batteries while the charger was charging the 12's. I'm happy with it, even with the painful price tag.
I'm thinking of getting one to mow my side yard where the guy I hired can't get too, $1000 is not a bad price when you figure those 12ah batteries cost $250 a piece.
sure Milwaukee ist best for easy, small cutting areas. This is the Rollce Royce under Lawn Mower. But also the price like an Rollce Royce. I only can dream of it, like 90% of population.. - nice video
Any news or reviews are you going to do on the new Echo 56 volt ope line ? I 😘 k forward to your review especially on the mower. I have two Makita 21" battery mowers and am looking for a better battery mower. I also have the Makita and Milwaukee ope tools. Have you heard of a wider than the 21" battery mower ? Greenworks 25 " with no side discharge is useless to do lawn care. I hear Toro is working on a battery option for their 30" Time master ?
I bought the latest and greatest Ego mower last summer. It was a fairly wet summer and I got frustrated with how often the mower plugged when using the side discharge insert. On this Milwaukee the side discharge insert looks to be twice as large as the Ego that I had so I’m really curious how this mower does in thick wet grass.
This is why I like DeWALT they don’t charge you for the batteries, on the other hand, only reason why this mower is $1099.99 Because of this $399 for the mower, $249.99 for one battery $499.98 for 2. When you add all that up you get $899.97.
If you wanted to pay an extra $1,500 for backup batteries, you could use this thing all day long. That's not too bad, considering the torque this puts out and it has bearing, rubberized wheels. A large company with many mowers would probably never get on board with the idea of a machine with limited customer support, however.
@working_country ___ if it wasn’t self propelled and had variable speed I would absolutely buy it, with my ego I have to mow my grass twice because it doesn’t have enough power but this thing looks like it could chew down to dirt in one pass
Last season I bought 2 new Makita 21" self propelled battery mower but the cut was not as good as my toro 30" and 20" . I wonder if this mower does a better cut than the Makita
45-60 min runtime means this actually isn't a commercial mower without an additional $500 on a pair of spare 12aH batteries and a way to charge them while mobile.
Great look great power but I think the run time and price will be this mower’s downfall. I can’t see how this mower is fit for commercial use. People hire lawn services have a yard big than a mower with a one hour max run time. Yea you going to have a few customers with small yards but not enough to justify purchasing this mower. Strong pass for me on this mower. Awesome video though, thanks for the reviews very helpful
Does anyone know if the battery pack balances the batteries? I’ve asked Milwaukee several times and they said that the battery is a “balanced battery system” and that the answer to my question is proprietary. What? Smells like planned obsolescence to me. Get ready to buy new batteries repeatedly over the life of the product.
Looks like a well built mower. I'm a gardener and have honda petrol mower plus metabo battery one but the metabo isn't self propelled or ipx rated for getting wet. Is the milwaukee ipx rated for use in wet conditions? Cheers
@@NODnGRIN that's disappointing considering the price. It can't really be marketed as professional grade without that. I get caught in the rain all the time in the great British outdoors!
how do wheels react when going in reverse after having used traction? with my gas one, I need to stop propeling it a bit before going in reverse or wheels stay locked and pull grass.
Do your batteries drain at different times? Standing behind the mower like your pushing it the left side dies faster than the right (right side will have 2 bars left) is this normal?

But it needs to hit 3600 rpm, have more torque then the Honda 216 and have a runtime of at least 30 minutes going through the worst of the worst. If they can give me that. I’ll buy it.
Apparently it’s 40 minutes in turbo mode so probably 30 minutes in reality but hopefully it actually cuts good
They should hurry up and expand the mx line and make an mx push mower riding 0 turn mower' mx 32" snow blower, mx rototiller, mx 4000psi pressure washer, mx 20" chainsaw and leaf blower with 1200 cfm!
I agree. I think if they're taking over OPE tools, mx fuel is the platform to move to.
I was thinking the same exact thing
Like like my HRX for sure.
Now time for a Riding mower. Have a feeling it's already on the works.
Wow you guys did not save any pains and melted all that snow just so you test this mower! Nice work ;)
Would be nice to see a hardcore test in very tall grass!
I think it only comes as a kit, not tool only.
It does only come as a kit, there is no Tool Only option. I know because I run a Milwaukee Red Zone
Once you learn to channel your inner dad you’re whole purpose in life will be to start the mower at exactly 6:30am on a Sunday
When outside temps starts to hit 100. You will learn that early and late mowing is the best time.
If it's commercial, why the fk didn't they use the MX fuel batteries??
Best video in this mower I’ve seen so far, good job 👍🏻
Each battery is $250 at home depot. So half the cost is batteries. 500 for the mower seems pretty good.
I just replaced my old lawn mower. My decision was down to this Milwaukeed and the Honda HRX. I decided to go Milwaukee and let me tell you, this is one fine lawn mower and I don't regret my decision one bit. Quiet and powerful.
@@rcairflrStill loving it?
@@Jellyballs Yes. On my 3rd season this year. Batteries still holding up well and the mower still working great. No way would I go back to gas. My mowable lawn is about 5000 sq/ft
All this review was talking. Wanted to see it in action. Sounds like a sales pitch instead of a real review.
For $1k they can keep it. Did anyone ever see what the 12AH batteries cost? $479 plus 119 for the charger.
That's $1,000 for the mower, batteries, and charger.
1000 dollars isn’t much these days, target is paying 24.00 hon hr to start working there. If you get a job you too can have badass Milwaukee tools
@@nelsonreau3842 Thanks for the heads up, I shall have to run out and get a job at Targets now. Yes Milwaukee tools are badass, I own several of their M18 Fuel line.
thats nothing, try $1250 here in Australia, with no charger and batteries.
Best video i seen so far thanks bud
I own couple of milwaukee like blower chainsaw edge trimmer two redlithium 12.0 m18 and more and then I'm looking at this lown mower for about a year to be honest 😂 and still i think is quiet expensive plus the battery you need to buy separately that can go up too 2000 easy so yeah still waiting to get it cheaper 😂
I would like to see when the grass is nice and wet in the morning and do a test with these battery powered mowers see how it would handle wet grass.
They don’t handle it well at all, personal experience.
How long will the electric drive motors last ?
Torn between waiting for this mower or buying the EGO LM2135SP. Whichever I end up getting I also intend to get the same platform blower and string trimmer/edger. Any insight? Not a business just working in my own yard and my tools need a serious upgrade. I like the Milwaukee mower but like the EGO 765 CFM blower. My lawn isn't huge, 2500 sq. ft. so both are overkill but they are the two I am looking at.
Can it be used as a traditional mower without the self propelled drive? Like if you start it up, can you just push it?
45-60 minutes with a commercial mower… gimme a break.
I hope they release a skin only version in not too much time, save some money and I really don't need more batteries.
Great review! Thanks
Thank you for watching Brett!
Why not show it being used in the long grass you mentioned rather than on grass that isn’t much of a challenge? You had done the testing, why not show it?
Nice grass!
1000 dollars lol, you can buy two Hondas for that
Yeah I was gonna buy one till I saw the price. I guess it would be worth it if it had a lifetime warranty or something. Then if u have to buy two 12.0 batteries, there another $600 bucks
Excellent overview video. Thank you for sharing it.
Great video!!! The pros know and use millwaukee
The only thing stopping me from buying an electric mower is the batteries. To buy enough batteries to be able to mow all day I’d spend more than a gas mower
Be nice if they sold it as a tool only option for those that already have some M18 12.0 batteries.
They don’t sell as a tool only option, that sucks. That was my only question when watching.
Some hoas require battery powered equipment to reduce noise pollution.
Will it free wheel when the drive motor isn’t engaged?
Thanks for the video review... saw your Makita 21" video as well. Which more do you prefer outta those 2? Also, have you tired the Dewalt RWD w/ the 60V 12ah
I need one now. Neighbors would be asking me to lend it
I assume Milwaukee uses a 1500w motor in this mower. Can anyone confirm the size of the motor/
Great video, great content, thanks so much
Nice review...I won that very model in a Milwaukee draw ☘
Have you ever done a decibel test to compare how loud this mower is with a conventional gas mower?
71 decibels on grass. The quietest electric mower yet
@@Protoolreviews haha right
What generation trimmer do you have? I've never had the trimmer overheat on me, even in a 100+ god awful, muggy Alabama summer sun.
Thank you for answering the question I always had, can you adjust the speed with the thumb levers
You're welcome, Leonard! Glad we could help!
I love my Milwaukee tools but I hate that's its all made in China
What drive does it have front or rear?
sure Milwaukee ist best for easy, small cutting areas. This is the Rollce Royce under Lawn Mower. But also the price like an Rollce Royce. I only can dream of it, like 90% of population.. - nice video
Should I buy one?
Just bought mine, a great mower.
My Honda HRX is still King. But I do run Milwaukees everywhere else.
From what my friend has told me, it is a monster that does not care what it is mowing as long as it's grass😂. Wet grass has been no problem for him
Swear to God if it's to dark to mow without headlights in the summer it's to late to not piss your neighbors off lol
Great video
“Commercial” jack up the price lol
I already have two M18 12.0ah batteries and charger. Do I have to buy it as a kit?
Can you operate it in rear-discharge only ? How you the rear cover be propped open?
Question: can you put different capacity batteries in together? Say a 12ah and a 5ah . In theory it should work the same as two 5ah batteries
great review
Why does my Milwaukee battery lawn mower not run fast enough and keeps stalling out as soon as I start cutting even very short grass?
I noticed that when you raise the front end of the mower to turn left or right it cuts off why
Can it it lowered enough to cut Bermuda grass like a golf course?
This is why I like DeWALT they don’t charge you for the batteries, on the other hand, only reason why this mower is $1099.99 Because of this $399 for the mower, $249.99 for one battery $499.98 for 2. When you add all that up you get $899.97.
Seems the REAL trick is getting commercial contractors on board. I'm not one, but know several, and they scoff at battery powered anything. 🤷♂️
Will there be a tool only price option available?
Nope. Only the kit is available right now with no word on a tool only option.
THAT $999. PRICE IS WITHOUT THE BATTERIES . WHAT IS THE DECK MADE OF ? IS IT REAR WHEEL DRIVE ? HOW WELL DOES IT BAG ?
Price is with the batteries and rapid charger. There is no tool only option available. The deck is stainless steel and it is RWD.
now they just need to build me a work van
45-60 min runtime means this actually isn't a commercial mower without an additional $500 on a pair of spare 12aH batteries and a way to charge them while mobile.
Great look great power but I think the run time and price will be this mower’s downfall. I can’t see how this mower is fit for commercial use. People hire lawn services have a yard big than a mower with a one hour max run time. Yea you going to have a few customers with small yards but not enough to justify purchasing this mower. Strong pass for me on this mower. Awesome video though, thanks for the reviews very helpful
They need different variants like non self propelled smaller battery no lights. Takes me only 20 min to cut my lawn. Can't justify 1k
Finally yes!
Looks like a well built mower. I'm a gardener and have honda petrol mower plus metabo battery one but the metabo isn't self propelled or ipx rated for getting wet. Is the milwaukee ipx rated for use in wet conditions? Cheers
Nope…not even a gasket/barrier for the battery compartment.
@@NODnGRIN that's disappointing considering the price. It can't really be marketed as professional grade without that. I get caught in the rain all the time in the great British outdoors!
Thank you for the info without the fluff
how do wheels react when going in reverse after having used traction? with my gas one, I need to stop propeling it a bit before going in reverse or wheels stay locked and pull grass.
Do your batteries drain at different times? Standing behind the mower like your pushing it the left side dies faster than the right (right side will have 2 bars left) is this normal?
If you're using the same sized batteries, they should draw power simultaneously, and should run out at the same time.
@@Protoolreviews I am, using the batteries that came with it
