a sand blaster will give the sand cast texture also in a pinch, ive done that a few times on restoration parts.
Quick tip to fake a cast texture is to go over the part with a needle scailer. Works like a charm.

Hey, it looks like you're using a steady rest on the natural surface of that bar stock. Shouldn't you machine a track for the rollers to go on smoothly? Would probably be a whole lot easier on all that stuff.
I did do just that. You can't see it though.
