Dayum. I love the way Blake speaks in the first person. It tells me that he isn't just playing a character, he's identifying with and connecting with that character. And that adds depth and power to his portrayal. Plus it's extra meaningful how he's describing animated scenes in the first person, "...I'm looking up at the mech...", it shows how deeply invested he is. And it shows, the acting in these clips is AMAZING!
I really hope PGI can get some BIG advertising on board with this. This kind of polish and attention to detail is what takes a game from A to AAA, and the whole world deserves to know that THE CHILDREN OF KERENSKY HAVE RETURNED!
Nothing worse than someone who talks in the 3rd person.
I am so looking forward to this. I can't wait to rampage across the Draconis Combine for the glory of Clan Smoke Jaguar.
Love what you do & can't wait for your next video.
@@jaredsmith1337 Thanks! huge video on the Taurian Concordat is being worked on atm :)
@@BigRed40TECH AWS-M8, looking forward to it.
Same, even tho Kurita is my favorite, this is gonna be hype
muh batchall
"I want the fans to like him" He's a Smoke Jaguar. The Smoke Jags are not to be liked they are to be feared, maybe hated. But, I'm impressed with the way he is talking about him.
That's sensible. When people are doing quote/unquote "evil", it's often not because they have evil intentions. There's plenty of people in these situations who are doing horrible things because they believe it's for the right reasons. That's likely to be significant in a story told within Smoke Jaguar - as they're culturally some righteous bastards.
@@d112cons That they are. Like I said Very impressed by how he was talking about the character.
Ahh, with every video we get, the more excited I am! MW2 was my first video game, so childhood is coming full circle.
Same here! It's amazing seeing MW getting this cinematic again.
Same here!
Even though I like Mechwarrior 4 a lot more.
MEK 2 was my reason for going out and buying my first pc
mw2 was the first game i got from a garage sale, and never got a computer that could run it, lol. But I did play at a friends house.
Nice! I grew up on Mechwarrior as well. Played the very first Mechwarrior in the early 90's! Hopefully this hits that nostalgia hype
"We were made for this." Literally, in this case.
That it is indeed. Let’s suit up.....and prepare for Mech Combat
lmao
gets merced in tukkayid.
Haha I showed my friend the latest trailer and when Jayden said "We were made for this", my buddy goes "How do you know??" So I had to explain that they were, in fact, quite literally made for this. 😂
Truebirth!
I don't know why but I keep imagining Sergeant Hartman in his place.
"Do you like donuts, mechwarrior?"
Ibrahim: "I bet you're the kind of guy that would fire on a person from behind and not even have the goddamn common courtesy to declare your Batchall! I'll be watching you."
@@AdamK1095those contractions are unclanlike, sibkin!
"I do not discriminate between freebirths and truebirths. Here, you are all. Equally. WORTHLESS!"
“Is chow allowed in the mech-hanger?!”
He's like a cross between Admiral Adama and Major Chip Hazard😅
so say we all
Everything else, is just a toy
A very colorful guy. Already love him
Great cast and perfect match for that role if you ask me. His voice catches attention immediately as you'd expect from a kit commander. Really excited to see more once the game is out.
This is definitely making me interested in the story. I really hope the rest of the game is as polished.
If we don't get a movie after this game Hollywood is doomed.
This can be better than Dune.
I'd love a Battletech movie or TV series, but the rights to the IP are split up between too many companies. Look at how much it took to get Spiderman into the MCU and then remember that Spiderman is thousands of times more popular than Battletech.
Also, too many people would jump to conclusions and assume that the Cappelan Confederation and Draconis Combine are racist caricatures of China and Japan.
@@kryptonianguest1903 And those same shortisghted hypcorites would not be up in arms about the "racist caricatures" of Germany and Sweden that are Steiner and Rassalhague.
Hollywod is doomed, I wouldn't want them to touch Battletech anyway, look at the mess they made of Halo. Plus it took them 3 runs at Dune to actually make it good on screen.
@@kryptonianguest1903 Can you honestly tell yourself there isn't even a little yellow fear from the 80's? In particular, it's that they were the go to villains for the longest times.
A tv series would be better given the long nature.
Not a movie. Give it to a company for a proper series - ideally somebody who's not afraid to throw cash at a production (basically HBO). Give me 12 episodes of the fall of Star League, ending on a single word to get you ready for season 2: "NO."
Starbuck, what do you hear? Nothing but the rain
The Word of Blake is spoken.
Battletech, doing war between the stars better than Star Wars.
He is a Starcolonel, a rank underneath the Galaxy Commander, with a Bloodname (family name) Ismiril. The Golden Ray going up indicates it on his insignia.
Clans do not have family names, expect the top 25 Warriors of a Bloodname. He is called Kit Commander in functionality, since he is watching over those cadets. They are basically all his children, nephews or nieces.
With a Bloodname, your Genetic code will be used in the Lab to produce more Warriors. There is no Gender requirement, since clans are a highly developed society. You can use eggs with the genetic code of two males or women, even from a surviving limb and so on. The strongest will reproduce artificially and as a result, there is an extreme evolution going on with the clan Mechwarriors in regard to intelligence, tactics, skills and so on.
"extreme evolution" - until you see the freaks in the pilot branch.
@@ScottBoydathome Those big heads..... oooff.🤣
@@ScottBoydathome Don’t forget the Fish-people produced by the SLDF, decaying slowly with the technology to freshen up the DNA being stolen by pirates after the succession wars.😂
@@adamrandell7946 😂 I don’t want to know how Belters look like.
Unfortunately, while selective breeding protocols do work (6 generations to produce 'elite' domesticated silver foxes, for example), the clan effort to breed the best warriors seem to have resulted in a bunch of charismatic assholes instead, because the methods used selected for those traits. Simply put, vain and selfish glory hunters who could manipulate situations and others to their benefit. But they aren't just flat-track bullies - they really could back it up too.
That's why clan characters like Trent and Aidan Pryde stand out... they just aren't that kind of clanner.
bro i cannot fucking wait for this game.. its crazy going from mechwarrior 2 being the first game I ever played on my dads computer.... to this
Battletech is back, baby!
PGI is cooking good heavy atmosphere of the story
The Smoke Jaguar Clan are the equivalent of the early Klingons in Star Trek..... Ruthless and Brutal...but they haven't the resources for greatness. That's why, in the lore of the tabletop game, the Jaguar Clan literally folded under the attack of the Inner Sphere à the Star League......
Love these!!!! Please keep them coming. I literally look up Mechwarrior 5 clans on UA-cam every day as soon as I'm home to see if there is any news. This IP means the world to me. I spent AT LEAST 2000 hours or more playing Mechwarrior 4 mercenaries as a kid and still do today. I'm almost to 1000 hours in mech 5, I couldn't be more happy with what y'all have given us and I'm beyond stoked for what's to come in clans! Keep up the hard work PGI, y'all ain't let me down once 🩵
It's great to see him talk about his character as if he is him. The production quality of these scenes is so good!
Can’t wait for this one. Mechwarrior 5 was one of the best surprises in my life. 20 years after I got MW4 , I had played MWO for a bit but I never realized there was a MechWarrior 5 till I walked into a GameStop I gave over 250 hours logged
Blake Stadel did a great job, my respect ."I will buy it, Take my money")
I’m liking these character profiles.
Ironically, the Clans were bred and trained for combat... but not for war. There is a difference.
Some clans learn that and adapt. Other clans don’t…
hence, Tukayyid...
Knowing Clan warrior caste society, he's the closest thing to a parent these kids are going to get.
This finally could be a decent game. Grew up on MW2 so this adds more dimension to the Clans
So the Draconis Combine Is the Main Bad guys for the Jaguars.
Meet the star:
The Trainer
“You do not have value because you have yet to demonstrate any.”
i noticed that they are making small changes to the cutscenes. In 2:38 that same scene plays on the jayden trailer. The hand of the commander is half open, like forming a claw. But in this trailer, the same scene his hand is completly closed forming a fist.
yah game still in active development of the bug and polishing phase until release
Excellent Job on being a Badass! 😁
Kinda wish they would've modelled the character model on his face. He sorta looks the part
😳
God that music in the beginning…
I am so hyped for this
I like that we're getting more story.
Keen to see this VA do him justice! Looks promising!
It's super easy for game devs to shove voice actors in a booth, have them phone it in and call it a day, but I'm not seeing it here. These behind-the-scenes featurettes remind me of the Mechcommander, Mechwarrior 3 and 4 intros in a very good way. Let's hope they deliver with this one.
Im so damn excited for this.
Man, thought of the Pyrde novels, and was like, oh their final bit of training is going to be so much easier than how Jade Falcon trueborns have to do their Trial of Position, lol.
That's how I talk to my discord kittens as well.
jesus b33f lmao
LMAO
OMG, So cool. I literally can't freakin' wait!!! AAAAAAAAGGHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
Oooooh got the chills at the end you did a very good job.
heavy comstar breathing.
Never heard about kit commanders. What kit stand for?
"Kit" is just the name Smoke Jaguar have for the kids in the Sibko where their Warriors to be spend their equivalent to middle and high school
@@logion567 Okay, thanks.
Kit as in Kitten
The name for kids in Sibkos
@@igorbukovy4313All the Clans have different names for their trainees. Many use the younger form of their totem animal (Jaguar kittens, Falcon chick's, Wolf pups)
@@darkalman Got it, thanks.
Seyla
I REALLY hope the game lives up to the hype
Really excited for this, looks great. There are two female characters- Mia and Naomi- listed as your starmates in some of their earlier trailers, but only one in these clips. I'm hoping this means that they are going to really reflect the absolute cutthroat nature of the Trials these are going to have to go through to get their spurs and not all the original 5 are going to make it through to the game proper
Everyone is a badass until they have to fight space AT&T.
The phone company shows no mercy....
Comcast lol
It would be interesting if we could customize the pilots if multi-player was implemented.
Something, something, Luthien.
There's a saying about being wary of Old Men in a field where young men are dying every day
Next: Character Featurette - The Madcat! "Pew pew, shshshshsh shshshshsh, brrrrrrrrrr!"
You kind of got Gunny from FMJ pretty decently as far as the tone.
I hope this means we are getting Operation Damocles in a expansion.
@PGI, please please please don't fuck this up.
Based on his speech in the first trailer, I guess that means the main character's star are from the Ismiril bloodline.
Liam Ismiril was the 1st saKhan of Smoke Jaguar, so it is a highly regarded Bloodhouse. These kits have a lot to live up to
THIS IS MECHWARRIOR STYLE...
Battletech could work really well as a tv show. The lore has so many different tropes that you can intertwine in interesting ways. Court intrigues, mystery from the deep periphery, lostech treasure hunting, solaris gladiators, clashing ideologies, futuristic cities, merc life, betrayal, war crimes, heroic "last stand" battles. The rise and fall of star empires. Earlier in the timeline you even got spacebattles. The mech scenes might be a bit too cheesy for the mainstream, but they would be cheaper to produce than ever (thanks to new AI tools). A show like that wouldn't be so much of a financial risk anymore. I hope someone gives it a shot.
I always felt they could start with something small yet relevant, fresh fiction. The story that suits it best would be the genesis of Avanti's Angels during the clan invasion.
Just enough political intrigue to hint at the many layers of the 'Game of Thrones' going on, but close enough to the front lines, and of course taking place during the maelstrom of the clan invasion, and offers the directly opposite viewpoint of this game.
I love these videos.
Word, Blake ;)
Can't wait
In sure this ends diplomatically...
someday Outworlds Alliance someday
I really look forward to this. Those cadets faces though....are they clones somehow?
They're Smoke Jaguars. Jags don't do freebirths, so every one of them is a test-tube baby. Same sibko means they're all from the same pair of "parents".
"You were made for this" is a very, very literal statement in this case.
@@magni5648 Nice 👍
I love his enunciation, real clanner shit
Okay but where is TUKAYYID
just give me the game already!
Wait a second, this kid already has a bloodname? Without earning glory for the clan yet?! Or has this Star already fought and earned honour?
@Gaming_Helm
The row of cadets are from the Ismiril Bloodhouse, but they have not earned their Bloodname yet unlike Kit Commander Ibrahim Ismiril
я фанат мехвариора с детства, 25 лет назад в первый раз поиграл в боевых роботов, продавайте пожалуйста вашу игру в России
So the starting mech is a Summoner?
I dont think so, I think you are gonna start with a shadow cat, and once you have proven yourself you get the summoner/thor
@@deabogg Probably the Summoner is for their first Trial of Position.
Very stupid is such a smoke jauar line and the kerensky line is classic
He must be your boss?
Superbly done and so now we know what the Jag's trainers are called. I'm guessing when he lost the eye he was probably on the edge of being solhama in terms of age and so it was deemed not necessary, but his skills netted him the role of Kit Commander. Which is something he probably HATES as he's a clanner and their goal is to die in battle. I wonder if he will or not, perhaps in some ambush or something.
*Blake's* Word be praise!
Solahma.
A stereotypical sergeant in the American army :)
Maybe you would prefer your training Sergeants to offer the cadets tea and crumpets with some cheese. Perhaps coddle them and fetch their slippers when they complain the floor is cold.
I kid of course.
This guy gives off more Commander Adama vibes than a staff drill sergeant. Caring but tough.
Even if this game playwise, is just Mercs with Clan skins and weapons, just from this scene I know this game will be genre defining.
I guess you could call this segment, "The Words of Blake." Eh? Huh?
I'll leave.
Sadly, the true culture of the Clans, that of a fascist military society grounded in the principles of eugenics and myopic social views, can't be shown in its real light in our current time. The late 1980s and 1990s, when most of the foundation of Clan culture was molded, would've been the better time to accurately show the Clan cultures and how alien and dogmatic they were.
Everyone is always quoting Nicholas Kerensky… give me Clan Wolf. I want to play for Clan Wolf again!
Cool guy. Clearly solahma though. Stand aside, old-timer. Your views is what got you here: discarded.
🤖 We were made for this
So I hate to say it but this concerns me as it shows that whoever provided the actor with direction honestly doesn't understand the source material. It is made abundantly clear in novels such as the Legend of the Jade Phoenix that the officers assigned to sibko duty were washed up warriors on their way out, and had nothing but contempt for those they were training. There would be no 'i see greatness in this kid' moments, just being a hard ass for the sake of being a hard ass. This worries me because it shows the writing staff just doesn't understand the material they are working with.
Im really hoping that this oversight with the writing of this character is just a one off situation, and not indicative of the project as a whole, as I do want to see it succeed, it just worries me that something like this would slip past the writing room and make it into the hands of the direction team.
Give me VR support
The actors are fine. The trope is weak. The portrayal does not fit a militant mindset society at all. This is shaping up to be Breakfast Club Mecha from the looks of it. I'll just skip the scenes and go blasting I guess. But I am definitely waiting for input before putting my dollar into it.
Maybe they shouldn't be posting these videos. Counterproductive.
PGI, good story telling comes from way more than MGS level cinematics, these characters look so bland
How so?
Jayden is a himbo with a stupid name and none of them seem to be interesting characters outside of being mechwarriors,
Why are Clan pilots regular humans? Shouldn't they supposed to be genetically enhanced super-humans with bulked musculature and bigger size then regular human?
That's the Elemental warriors, not mechwarriors.
@@Digiarcstudio And we don't speak about the aerofighter subcaste
@@Digiarcstudio To be fair, the mechwarriors are also stronger and faster, just not *bigger*
@@Digiarcstudio I see, but elusid said, they are too genetically enhanced. I wanted to say they look too regular. Not like a elite clan mechwarriors, but as Holywood soap opera actors.
They're fit in the way an F1 or Endurance race drivers are. Lean, capable of withstanding high G-Forces and physiologically very efficient. Being in cockpits they don't need to be uber muscular or too large.
Now, elementals in Power Armor...
Wtf is that name
Welcome to Battletech!
"Ibrahim" is the Arabic form of Abraham. "Ismiril"... well, that one got me, too.
Clan names have literally nothing to do with parentage. They are only given a first name at birth, taken from the clan records of warriors.
They have to earn their family name, or "bloodname", through trial by combat.
This guy here is a bloodnamed warrior, so a certified badass by definition.
However he is also old and on the verge of being "solahma", a big no-no in clan culture, warriors are supposed to die young. Clans are weird like that😂.
This is also a reason why Cordera Perez looks like he is in his late 20's early 30's, despite being the equivalent of a general. Clan warriors are literally bred for combat since the youngest age.
Solahma reminds me of the Comanches who would reject the old and be arrogant, brash against them. The young Comanches are revered while the old were despised, mistreated. Definitely what happened out in the Wild West
@@BushidoBasher Clanners believe that the only way for a warrior to reach their 30th birthday is to be a coward.
