Just wanted to add that MW5 Clans is not so difficult that min-maxing is absolutely necessary. Yes, laser boats are overpowered. If you boat lasers you can absolutely steamroll the game. But there’s really no harm in experimenting with different weapons or different omni-pods and finding a playstyle you enjoy - because it’s primarily a single player game and the goal is to have fun. For me, personally, I am kind of a lore nut and prefer stock mechs. I’ve been doing a full stock mech playthrough and it’s perfectly doable, especially with the armor (damage mitigation) upgrades. (Unlike MWO where playing a stock mech is generally a death sentence.) Part of the fun of Mechwarrior is the huge diversity of builds and weapons. Find what you enjoy.
the also incentives you to play with a lot of different stuff in the SIM, stock loadout mech runs is something it rewards along with undertonnage in missions. If you are struggling with progressing missions, laser boats exist to brute your way forward, yet it is defiantly not the only option. I am currently attempting a melee /brawler attempt due to the melee stat boost via research and character xp. Want to see if I can run up and just punch things to death . . . which is working out pretty well so far
Get to the Nova. Put Slasers in the Nova. Use leftover tonnage for a little extra heatsinks and for armor. Lots of Armor. Once you have access to it, include the omnipod that gives you an AMS for more defense. Clear the rest of the game until you get Direwolfs. Upgrade the Direwolf to the same idea, except use Mpulse lasers instead.
IF you want you can get Timber Wolfs and do a 9 M pulse laser build with something like 800 armor with the upgrades. I didn't even go up to a Direworlf with this build
As soon as you get to the Warhawk or direwolf just put 4 er ppc ( in case of dw some extra bling bling ) and couple of Dh and you are golden. 3 weapongroups : 2 left , 2 right , 4 in chain. Delete everything. Spice it up with some smart research perks and you basically don’t need anything else. 6tons for 15 dmg at insane range and very high velocity…
For Headshots... * Atlas left eye (if facing you the one on the right) * Marauder's have a 3 carapace vertical cockpit, target the middle one. * Orion face plate, super easy barely an inconvenience
Don't sleep on the simpod. It allows to progress mech milestones and thus get a huge boost to the mech XP earlier. Repeating a couple of earlier missions with your newly unlocked mech allows to unlock some omnipods and use the superior build for the nex real mission. Plus, first time completing the simpod challenhes gives you a good chunk if pilot xp (~600-700 for all five challenges - 60-80% of what you get from a typical mission) I am currently on my second playthrough on the max difficulty and simpod allows to get an early edge.
when u unlock a Mech, u dont get it for free, u pay the price the unit costs, its even told to u in the pop up lol all in all realy usefull for anyone new to the game, alot of valuable info that otherwise would have to be learned the hard way and lol nice easteregg >_< had to go back to make sure i wasnt imagining things XD those are real Clanners! SEYLA and i realy enjoyed to see how with every point on the list u seem to get more and more happy 😄 ^
I wonder if the keeping of this new game, under the mw5 umbrella despite it feeling in almost every way possible is an indication that perhaps they plan for mechwarrior 6 to be set significantly farther in the in-game timeline, either during the blakest jahad or in the current setting as of right now in the Wolf Ill-clan era of the tabletop game?
Don't sleep on active probes and especially ECM. ECM makes it much harder for the spheroids to get a solid missile lock, which means no more incoming LRMs. It also makes their laser/ballistic accuracy worse generally. Unfortunately they can get it too, which is where active probes come in. They reduce the effects by 85%, basically negating it. Because of how limited the mechs that can field ECM are I wouldn't put it on everyone, but given his unique skill Liam always has it. Even when heavier mechs are available, he never leaves the Hellbringer. Speaking of unique skills, I'm going to have to disagree slightly with you about Evasion. For Jayden, Ezra, and Mia, definitely beeline it. It is hugely powerful. But for Liam and Naomi their unique skills are arguably just as good. Liam makes ECM really shine. See above for why that is awesome. Naomi goes from sandpapering everything to hitting the CT more often that not. She can actually core mechs with LRMs at max spread reduction. Artemis becomes redundant, saving you 1T and 1 slot per launcher, effectively giving you an extra ton of ammo per launcher. I try to level both roughly evenly. Given Evasion costs twice as much per rank, I went with Evasion, skill, skill, Evasion, skill, skill, Evasion, skill, Evasion, Evasion. Going max evasion first means these skills don't come online until you're about 2/3 through the game or later.
Saw your vids playing on the sim pod screen. How different the invasion would have gone had the clanners been followers of the church of ER small lasers.
> "... ERPPC sniper..." The 4xERPPC Warhawk firing one arm at a time is devastating. Ditch the missiles, armour it up as much as you can and start deleting the enemy cockpits and/or Central Torso.
Just thought I'd throw this in. When selecting Omnipod loadouts, you DO have the ability to select each module and select the base Prime or selected omnipod for that module. r arm, l arm, each leg etc. So, in short, you CAN have a mix of Prime and Omnipod loadouts for each module on your chosen mech. :)
Without new game plus how can we get full unlock of all mech omnipods, upgrades, and abilities? I can’t seem to learn all the technologies in a single play through the timeline
Playing the sim pod in the barracks will allow you to gain xp for your pilots and mechs. Those you can max out/unlock all. You cannot reasearch everything at this time.
Replaying missions through the Sim will still count towards Mech XP and their milestones, giving you more than enough to unlock omnipods and few upgrades. Replaying missions with different builds is also good to get better or try new things with zero risk.
@vanguard8364 & @omightyyoda good points... both will help me develop my game. thanks I still wish there was a new game plus or some method of replay that would allow continued power up
Hello guys! What about any news about the future of Mechwarrior: - New DLCs for Clans? - New DLCs for Mercenaries? - New games in the Battletech Universe?
Damn I’ve spread my research out to much now near end of game and got the wrong crap. Did er ppc but feel like er lasers are way better now and got nothing into the ballistics but can’t decide which ones best
There's one thing I've been meaning to test. Do Clanners get more salvage at the end if you don't blow the CT? In earlier games kneecapping was a big thing to maximise salvage.
Single-weapon-type mechs may be more effective in the game, but they’re not nearly as fun to play, nor as lore-accurate (with limited exceptions like Nova Prime and Piranha and Awesome), as more balanced builds. Like playing the original God of War by just spamming one single combo again and again, I personally don’t find it very fun.
if ur build is to hot but u jsut cant get more cooling in, or dont want to downgrade weapons, fire in chainfire or smaller weapon groups, 4 ML at once produce more heat than 2x 2 ML back to back ^^
this last "clans" game burned me with how small it was and having DLC just BARELY a month from main game launch means I will not buy one single DLC for at least a year and only then when its on a 50% or better sale....I am done with PG
I wish that for example when you specialise in mad cat and heavy mechs you would get substantial bonuses so you could build around that and not have to take an assault
It literally does that, you can take mech specializations If you take both timberwolf and heavy, the bonuses stack together so it's like a 1.5x bonus instead of 1.1 or 1.2

😂 Very cute. Didn't think we would notice the Mechwarriors watching TTB in the barracks. But we did! 😂
You found it!

so have you determined if the critical slots are less vulnerable if filled ?
Does it support Track-IR this time? Or is it possible to set separate axis for freelook than a workaround with opentrack would be possible.
Nice one TTB
Thank you!
What is the "unique" mech layout of that Collector's Edition Timber Wolf in MW:Clans? Just curious! :)

thanks for not telling us what the target friendly button is, what next your going to tell us to use the deploy parachute key to deploy our parachute?
The button is whatever you bind it to in the options menu. It's different between PC, xbox, playstation or any other platform.

Counting how many shots U need to destroy a standing mech while U are standing still is not very useful.
Its a measure, but I like that he's started using actual combat footage at the end of his build guides.
If build A takes more shots than build B to destroy a standing mech, A will also take more shots to destroy a moving mech.
