@MichaelPrince1854 Really? Sugarcoat? It is an honest effort to shed light on the bad translation of Judeans into "Jews" and I commend the effort. Maybe you don't like the truth either that Jesus only preached to the "lost sheep of Israel" and that the Church was originally Jewish? Take off your prejudiced lenses and see the truth. It is by grace and mercy that we, Gentiles, we're included in the "mystery of Christ". Read Ephesians 2 and 3 for insight.
They chose barabas so yes they killed him also they got the romans to do their bidding , Talmud says they have no blood on hands if don’t do it directly, the Jews killed Messiah but he’s in heaven .
Well, to be perfectly honest, Peter, in his talk at Pentecost to a mixed crowd of Jews from all over the world, says in Acts 2:23 : “... this Man, delivered over by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death.” So, he is generalizing to all the Jews present. So we can also generalize by saying that the Jews instigated the killing of Jesus and the Romans made it happen. Not all the Romans killed Jesus, and not all the Jews instigated the murder. That goes without saying. In the end, it was our sin and His love that nailed Jesus to the cross.
This is a little too simple. As I described in a recent essay, without the insistence of Caiaphas as leader of the Sanhedrin, Jesus would not have been killed by the Romans. Jesus knew the spiritual limitations of His own people, and so knew He would be killed. Seasons 3 & 4 of "The Chosen" emphasize this situation quite clearly.
At the time, Israel was brutally dominated by the Romans who were crucifying thousands of Jews all the time for preaching or rebelling against the Romans. To think the Romans had to be pressured at all is historically inaccurate.
The Romans didn't crucify people who had religious disagreements with the local Jews. Crucifixion was reserved for enemies of the state. If Caiaphas hated Jesus and wanted him dead, Pilate would've said "bro that sounds like a Jewish problem for you Jews to handle. Go kill him yourself. Drag him outside the city and stone him to death. But I'm not crucifying him just cuz you guys disagree about things."
Thank you for your effort to clarify the misconception rhat Jews,as recorded in the Bible, were all Israelites (i e. the 12 Tribes or the Northern Kingdom included). Anyone with common sense and an unbiased view regarding the NT will realise that it was only a few "Jews", mainly the Sanhedrin, who wanted Him dead and influenced Pontius Pilate.
So sad. Many Christians still don't get it. We thank God and Jesus Christ for atoning our sin that we may forgiven, and still hate the people/the servant of God, Israel, who unknowingly accomplished God's plan of atoning for our sins, Isaiah 53:5-12, John 12:27-33, Matthew 26:39-44. Leviticus 16, ONLY the high priest is authorized by God to offer the atonement sacrifice. So it has to be the high priest who must declare that Jesus be penalized with death, it's unlawful for him to k!ll humans , so it has to be done by the Romans. That's why Jesus even asked the Father to forgive them for they truly have no idea who He is. Jesus crucifixion was a parallel story to Joseph, who forgave his brothers for though they did evil to him by selling him as slave, he understood that God allowed it so that through Joseph many lives will be saved from the famine. So does Jesus' death, which saved many from the eternal punishment.
@imankhandaker6103 Most of the Jews still don't believe and would not say that Jesus death was an atonement sacrifice, for them it was a just penalty for blasphemy.
@imankhandaker6103 I think the orthodox Judaist Jews still hate to be associated with Christianity. Reality is with only a very few biblically literate Christians in early days I don't think Christians associated Christianity with Judaism. I myself grow up only mistakenly knowing that the Jews k!lled Jesus. I think it's more likely that it's the increased biblical literacy this days, that people regard Christianity as a Judeo-Christian religion, particularly nowadays when most Christians (unfortunately there are replacement theologists) are siding with Israel in their conflict with the Gazans.
At the time of Jesus' death, the Romans crucified so many Jews rebelling against the Romans, preaching against the Romans, talking of a messiah to lead to the Romans' overthrow, that there was literally a shortage of trees. The Roman leaders were brutal and killed tens of thousands of Jews on a whim. Jesus was another preacher promising the downfall of Rome. Most likely, the subsequent Christian writings, which came decades or more after the event, with different audiences to appeal to, invented a role for the Jews to appeal to their audience. Keep in mind that the Roman Empire was was still in power, dominating the region at the time. You wouldn't want to paint your overlords as guilty, otherwise you'd end up crucified too
The confusing comes from the idea of religion. Jews to Christians are those who didn't follow him in hence Jews and Gentiles became Christians. In reality we must separate religion and belief from Culture and Nation of Israel.
Jesus was executed by the Roman Empire that ruled the province where he lived. The biblical legend has it that the Roman governor gave the local Jews the choice to pardon Jesus but this does not change the responsibility as they would have had no power to pronounce the death penalty on their own.
