I love where Ryn is having a difficult time in breathing and is unable to walk. That she needs gets back into the water by just craw back. Also how she transform into back mermaid: first with her skin turns gray, then her teeth become sharper, and then her hand webbing from her hands, claws, back fin comes out, and finally her legs become a tail.

the Metamorphosis from Legs to Tail in this show is amazingly done. It's not the usual "oh no I can't touch water or poof I'm a Mermaid again" She has to undergo a painful transition where her skin, muscles, and maybe even bones are pulled and stretched together to create her tail. You can really tell that the entire thing is extremely painful to her as well. It almost reminds me of Werewolf transformations in that the shape-shifting is beyond dangerous and takes a big toll on the user. One thing in this show that I find absolutely genius is that she can SHED HER TAIL. It comes of like an actual snakes skin. If it decomposes quickly this might be why they are so undetectable at first. Aside from my rambling, I do hope that Ryn and Donna can somehow coexist with the people in Bristol Cove. Overfishing seems to be the problem that led to Donna's capture and while they're intelligent beings, they still have lots of threats on land like the Government and humans being idiots in general.
The transformation of the mermaids in this show absolutely fascinates me, I've always hated mermaid transformations that are just a puff of smoke and: *POOF* here's your new mermaid tail, no pain whatsoever! It's not like your bones, skin, muscles and (most likely) your genitalia fuse together to form the tail. I think this makes Ryn more of a badass, her friend(sister?) is captured and Ryn goes ashore to find her, undergoing an extremely painful transformation in the process.
Mer Girl2003 yet, it is unrealistic the shape she gets. The human-legged mermaids wouldn’t look like that. The more logical thing is that her legs become smaller until being her pelvic fins, which are the equivalent of tetrapods’ back limbs, and her coccyx growing into a tail, which also makes sense in fishes: they’re tails are a continuation of their spine.
Peter Salucci essentially the legs fuse together as a reaction from the sea water. Although it could be argued that this isn’t “logical” but hey there’s mermaids here what’s there not to discover?
Myths have changed a lot, sirens are considered evil and more grotesque "mermaids" since a long time and the ones that are half bird and half human are now called harpies once they were called Sirens
ryn is a siren there's a difference mermaids are loving creatures that fall in love with sailors but sirens are murderous predators but its ok not everyone knows lol
The way they made the mermaid transformation in this show adds a sense of realism that other mermaid shows (and shape shifter shows in general) do not have. Becoming something else when they transform can't be easy. These mermaids maintain a mystic quality while still providing some visual explanation of how the transformation happen (not just bubbles and glowing light). A (made up by me) explanation of the difference between Siren mermaids and others like H2O, Mermaids or Splash is that the mermaids in those other shows are a different kind of mermaid. They live near the surface like in reefs and breath air, though they can hold their breath for a long time. You also see that they have a slight bend in their tails where the knee would be implying that their tails grow over their legs when they are in the water. Ryn and her kind live in the deep sea and have gills. They also have no knee bend, their tails are more flexible and can bend in any direction, meaning their bone structure is different. The reef dwellers are closer to being human so there is less for them to change when they transform. The deep sea dwellers have greater changes to go through (bone structure, going from gills to lungs, etc.) which is why it may be more difficult and painful for them to change.
Brianna Johnson if Ryn can flex her tail up and down, then her transformation is also unrealistic. We can see her that her tail is made out of her legs’ bones. To flex like that, her tail would need to grow from her coccyx, similar to cetaceans and all fishes in general, whose tails are a continuation of their spines. Otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense that she has legs under her tail
@@Stinoco she undergoes rapid metamorphosis, her leg bones disappears and reforms into another tissue or becomes just one bone that will support the tail like it becomes a continuation of her spine when she becomes a mermaid, her legs are not wrapped inside her tail if thats what ur implying.
@@Stinoco Ryn is a deep sea mermaid. For her kind, their bone structure changes when they transform; we can hear her bones break and restructure. I said it was the reef mermaids (like from H2o for example) whose tails seem to grown over their legs, which is why they still have the knee bend
Brianna Johnson it distill doesn’t make sense. Yess mermaids’ tails seem to be a continuation of the column, which means that the tail must grow from the coccyx, not from breaking the legs. Besides, the fact that vessels and blood are exposed while being transformed doesn’t make sense. The blood’s composition and blood vessel would be affected by the water and salinity, not to mention that the water can get into her tail while transformation, touching muscles, bones, other organs, and that would mess up the anatomy of their tails.
WOW. Nice acting! I really love that the whole thing wasn't stupidly "glamorized" or "censored" so it was more suitable for people that came to see a weird mermaid that had sparkles or whatever. wonderfully done.
I love how the fish tail is more "natural" (CGI)made and look realistic, not like the other mermaid movies with a plastic tail and a bra. This is the first mermaid series I like !
I totally agree, that is also a thing why I like this series. Plus they don't have tons of makeup like other mermaid movies so they look cheap and trashy.
The theme is on this first episode, the tail is not made by PC. It's silicone but they didn't use her again. If you don't believe search it. It's extended and if you see when she attacks she don't goes full down the tail and it's more fat than PC mermaid tail
ok seen this episode but seriously I still got to ask as soon as he seen her in the video camera's underwater he goes and runs and jumps in. I am like hello don't do that
Theri4444 exactly because we all know if he would have jumped in a and see her transform into a man-eating killer mermaid she would attack his ass. But I got to say he's lucky to be alive because if he would have stayed in that tank longer then he would be dead

This show is the best!!! Excellente!!!! Always looking forward to the next episode and what is next. It is so intriguing and so mysterious. It reminds me of that movie "She Creature". This scene of transformation is my most favorite. How amazingly the body turns into a creature and you can feel the pain Ryn undergoes while she changes. Eline Powell is such a great actress. She takes the best portrayal of a siren. So glad to watch shows like this. The story itself is very captivating apart from the thought of a mermaid. Please keep the quality of this story consistent. As far as mermaid transformations go, this may very well be the one we're looking for.
I like the transformation.. Its cool... No glowing lights and bubbles or rainbows... Natural👍👍👌
Idk why but this made me laugh.
I would've liked pieces of the skin to be illuminated, like those angler fishes that you see in movies.
But this is teen wolf version mermaids ahahahahah i love siren
Probably because its a siren.Sirens and Mermaids are different.
Unorthodox Lunar yeah but it’s really painful
That transformation is so detailed 👏👏 they did a great job in this show.. It's not all rainbows and unicorns 😊
