    This is a sentimental shoe for me. I am not sure if you remember but a few years ago you took me on a mystery ride to a running store and treated me to the Asics GEL NIMBUS 24. When I tried it on it was like no other shoe I had ever worn. Cushioned for running, walking and studio hours on feet, The foam did take a while to break in and I have gotten used to that soft feel. This pair is still in the rotation and holding up well. THANK YOU for the thorough review❣
    For reference - I am 5' 4" / 130 lbs - and NOT a "powerful runner."

    It seems like now the brands introductory running shoes like the Nimbus, Ghost, and 880 are now being used and marketed as "lifestyle " running shoes which can be used as walking, working, running errands in shoes that you can also run in. Which is why they are the brands #1 running shoes because thry appeal to a broader consumer. For higher mileage runners "hobby joggers," they are now used as recovery shoes. The next step up in the brands, the Novablast, Glycerin, 1080 are now the true inroductory running shoes for higher mileage

    The Nimbus 25 had a little resilience early on for me but, after 300+ miles and a couple of months wearing them at work, they're still soft but they're not giving anything back. The Superblast and the Deviate Nitro 2 have retained their responsiveness after taking as much or more beating (just passed 700 miles on the Deviate).
    For supplements, I take a B12 (because vegan) and now Iron, which has made me feel like I'm taking EPO. :) If you're not taking B12, I hope you're getting plenty of B12-fortified foods.
    Also, those biscuits looked so good.

    This one looks like the best version so far. Is the upper flatter because part of the foot sits lower into the midsole? Therefore making it more stable? That’s what it seems like. Love the color-way too

      @supwell  26 днів тому

    • @supwell
      @supwell  25 днів тому +1

      With that rotation I'd go nimbus. Novablast 5 is super versatile and can handle a lot of the same runs where you'd use the Glideride Max. Same with the superblast. Nimbus will add something new to the rotation as a pure comfort shoe for those relaxed miles

    Which one of Nimbus 27, Bondi 9 and Skyward X would you recommend in terms of comfy and some bounce? Appreciate 😊

    • @supwell
      @supwell  25 днів тому

      Bondi 9 is the best blend of comfort and bounce from those. Nimbus is very comfortable but leans to the same soft and squishy side as the more v5. And skyward x is a super fun shoe but encourages you to pick up the pace a lot - bondi is like a tamer version of the skyward x that's better for relaxed miles. So if your number one priority is comfort I'd go bondi, and if you'd rather have a speedy shoe with bounce I'd go skyward x

      @@supwell thank you Yowana. My running is going well. I established a 35 minute walk on the walking pad ( designed to be used under a standing desk in the office), which seems pretty silly. But it all starts in the head, and looking at my day, i now see the start of my moving at 7 am and a finish at 5 pm with a 3 hour break at mid morning and a 2 hour lunch break. Til the end of winter i will reduce the morning break by increasing the walking pad time, and suddenly i have a 10 hour day with just one 2 hour lunch break, used mainly for eating and sleeping.
      Starting in March i will incorporate 20 day waves of hills, speed or distance with 10 days of easy only running.
      When the summer comes along i will do a few back to back to back 50 kilometer days to get me ready for my section hike in the fall.
      All in all i never have been slower, i never have been happier, i still got the mindset of my younger years.....and i do now exactly what i told i would some 40 years ago, when i was called crazy and stupid.
      average distance per week now around 130 kilometer.....most of my life....too late to stop now.......

      @@supwell actually it is a 10 day cycle, 2 harder 10 days 1 easier 10 days, filling up one month with an extra easy day in the 31 day month. 3 sessons in a hard cycle give me more recovery than in a 7 day cycle. THe sessions are either 2 fast and 1 long or 1 fast 1 semi fast tand semi long, 1 long. Also splitting up each month is much easier for my brain, by just looking ar the actual date and knowing in which cycle of the month i am currently in. Cycles start at 1., 11. and 21. of each month.....avoiding unnecessary thinking frees up a lot of carbs for running....which also makes the long and exact prerace planning so useful....you left a lot of energy on the the trail by not knowing the exact course and not having planned a strategy in case you go off course

      this feels a lot more relaxed to me - for example i did a workout at threshold pace in the magmax. it wasn't great but still got it done fine. in the nimbus i would never even attempt that

      @ thanks for the feedback really helpful, I’m a longtime asics fanboy but for some reason the nimbus 25 gave me terrible shin splints! Be interested to try the 27 to see if anything has changed

    I love my 26s for the most part. The loop on the heel rubs against my Achilles and creates an abrasion if I don't wear higher socks or tape it. Frustrating!

    Hey Yowana has running helped you make progress in other areas of life? Do get what I’m saying?

      It may be disadvantageous. He says "Don't let running get you fired or divorced."

      I’m interested to hear Yowana’s reply. For me, the answer is yes. Running is something you challenge yourself to do, but when life brings you other challenges, the training in meeting challenges that you give yourself on the road/track/trail applies.

      100% - encourages me to eat in a way that helps me perform better on workouts; encourages me to get more sleep so i can recover; encourages me to only put things in my body that help me feel better the next day (i don't drink anymore); gives me more focus and clarity throughout the day; helps me maintain a healthy BMI; improves morale and self-confidence; the list goes on but running has changed my life for the better in so many ways. i wanted to start a business for the longest time but never had the focus or consistency to do that, and i found that too through running

    Hi Hobby Jogger team. I’m dying to know who are the UA-camrs who keep plagiarizing Yowana’s content. He’s mentioned germans, britons, etc 😂 I don’t know…surely someone in the community has seen the things he’s talking about? Please comment here.
    PS: The public relations firm he mentioned that “didn’t want to upset other shoe tubers “ sounds like the MSNBC hosts pissing their pants trying to not piss off you know who.

    Bruh. I love your stuff and it’s cool if part of your vibe is playing the underdog and you need that perspective for motivation.
    But throwing it out there - as someone who’s done marketing & product dev for years - it’s totally a thing that multiple people can arrive at the same general execution and language concepts independently. Definitely is possible also some are copying, but can be a rookie mistake to assume copying by default.

    You pronounced multiple Nimbus as "Nimby" vs. "Nimbeye". (soft i vs hard i) Did you take Latin in high school, because that's how I'd pronounce second declension Latin plural as well. Most people who don't know Latin would say "Nimbeye".
