FitAngie Girl, you need to bake and try one. It’s delicious. Here in the south though, we normally melt and bring to a boil the butter and the brown sugar. Tastes even better than just throwing in all of the ingredients together. 😀
We dont celebrate thanksgiving in the UK and pies generally arent particularly big here either so its quite hard to get your hands on pecan pie unless you make it yourself so i think i'll have to use this recipe and bake my own because it looks amazing.

Am sure they must have it in some of your smaller speciality shops. We like it unrefined when it is in a pure state. It is especially good on hot cereals and makes the greatest fudge...Many, many ways to use it. Good luck with your search. :)

Hi there, do you mean that you buy pecans in the shell? I am not really understanding this. It is a nut, it is what it is, like a walnut, it comes out of the shell ready to eat! :)
I'm from the South...Mississippi exactly, and we never used Maple Syrup for pecan pie. It's originally been used as molasses in the pies. We use though Caro syrup. I suppose maple syrup is a spin on it, but I'll stick to my mamaw's recipe Gemma, for this Thanksgiving. Love your channel as always though!
Yes, and this is indeed true. There is a similar pie in England, called a treacle tart, they are all based on the ingredients available locally in the past. Carry on, I am sure it is delicious :)

Hi Bec. That is an option, you can leave it in or out according to preference. I use salted butter and I don't leave the salt out. I find the salt in butter is not much to make it salty, but is enough to make a difference in the flavor of the bake.

Hi Gemma, in the video you said 40-45 mins but the written recipe on your website says 30 mins. My pie is in the oven now and I’ll check if it’s done in 30 mins
@@biggerbolderbaking Hey BBB, It's almost the exact same thing once your flour, salt, (frozen butter/cubed) are all blended well with the mixer, you add a little Ice water at a time until you get the right consistency. I only say this since, I have a ninja food processor and its doesn't fit that much flour in it.
Looks great....but definitely not for those like me on a tight budget...unfortunately both maple syrup and pecans cost an arm and leg down here in FL. Oh well, will still bookmark for one day in the future.

Jen, if you don't have Maple syrup, you can add a few drops of Maple flavoring to regular syrup and it works just as well (that's what I do even for pancakes!)

Pecan pie is my favorite! But I like to use butter pecan ice cream on top and warm the pie just a tad.

@@biggerbolderbaking Hey BBB, It's almost the exact same thing once your flour, salt, (frozen butter/cubed) are all blended well with the mixer, you add a little Ice water at a time until you get the right consistency. I only say this since, I have a ninja food processor and its doesn't fit that much flour in it.

Jen, if you don't have Maple syrup, you can add a few drops of Maple flavoring to regular syrup and it works just as well (that's what I do even for pancakes!)
As a Canuck I must say the maple syrup in there looks good... as someone who recently became obsessed with golden syrup, however... 😅
Golden syrup is a lovely thing, very nice to use. Not a natural sugar like maple syrup though :)
