My Galaxy S9 would show 5-6hr ETR to charge via cable so to avoid expensive repairs I assembled my own wireless charger. And today my wireless charger broke, the phone won't charge! I was so frustrated, just about to sell it today and then I came across this video. I didn't have this spray so I poured a nail paint remover(thinner) in the jack and used a toothpick to clean the black residue hidden inside. And then GALAXY S9 WAS FAST CHARGING VIA CABLE!!!! You're a savior!!

Yep, or it might be bent. if that's the case... You can use a tooth pick to strighten it back into ailment. That always tighten it right back up. Hower, if it keep getting bent -- it will be best to get it replaced some time soon. Since each time you straighten it, the pins get weaker and eventually run the risk of breaking off.

Saved my phone!!! THANK YOU. It's been driving me crazy all this time. It was full of lint, i couldn't even tell it was lint at the bottom of the USB-C, it was so caked in there. Gunk gone. CAVEAT: the spray straw that comes with the petrochemical cleaner is dangerously HARD to put in the spray nozzle. CAUTION: the petrochmical is dangerous and the tough STRAW ATTACHMENT itself could "do you in".

I've had the same problem with a few type c charging cables. Cleaning out the lint and dirt out of the phone end is always a good idea but the best way I found to get the connection to tighten was to VERY gently squeeze the male end on the charging cable with pliers to slightly tighten the grip on the connection. Again you have to be very gentle and don't try to force the cable on after first try. it should snap in with minimal effort.... When done correctly it works every time.

Thank you so much! I've watched several videos about loose USB connectors and all but one of them are about cleaning the lint out of the port using a small tool like a toothpick. The other one is about how to replace the connector or the charging board, both of which requires opening up the phone. Your solution is the only one that really addresses the loose connector issue and I just pinched the connection end of my charging cable with my small pliers for jewelry making and already my phone is charging! Like you said, the pinching needs to be very gentle. I hardly squeezed it but it works!

I had looked in the port with a jeweller's glass and a strong light and couldn't see anything untoward. Today, after watching your video (and with a lot of scepticism) I used a toothpick, suitably whittled thin enough, and teased out enough lint to grow spuds in! No liquids or compressed air - just the toothpick and the charging lead fits in securely again and charges my phone no problem.

Thanks for this clip - it just helped me fix my Google Pixel 3A XL which last night stopped accepting its USB C cable (by just a fraction). As you predicted, there was a tiny blockage in the phone's socket that was preventing the cable jack fully inserting. Since I didn't have the electrical cleaning spray I just used a plastic toothpick to carefully scrape it clear. Thanks.

I have that same cleaner for car sensors but haven't used it on the phone, and it is kind of expensive (around $6-8?)
A plastic dental flosser that folds back on itself has a decent toothpick (a bit like the kind that comes with a swiss army knife) that is narrower and may be safer to use, as wood can be abrasive and split off inside the port.
The cable themselves seem to warp over time, and some are prone to wiggle as well, and sometimes it's just better to buy new cables (generic kinds are usually the best choice, though the OEM ones tend to hold up better.)
I recommend using a headlamp to make the job easier, as it is easy to overlook how much debris get's stuck inside it due to grime that collects and get's lodged in.

Great post but main point is missing. How do you tell a clean connector? By the click. I just cleaned mine with a wooden tooth pick. If needed, sand it down to a thinner shape with e.g. a nail sander. When clean, the plug goes into the port so deep that the metal part is inside completely. If you still see 1 millimeter of metal, its not plugged in completely. You need to feel a distinct "click" when plugging in completely. It is that click that prevents the plug from sitting loose. To disconnect you need to feel some resistance when pulling and feel a click. No click = dirt inside. This cleaning may also fix data connection problems such as failure to download photos from phone to pc. Good Luck!

YIKES I would recommend against using spray in the connector. I did that once last year and the stuff got up and wicked into the screen, and the screen was never right again after that.
What I do is to carefully pick the lint out with an xacto blade. Be careful to just draw it along the bottom and pull the lint up the edge don't scrape the center bit with the contacts on it.

If you are lucky, you have lint or dust or someone parked their car in there blocking the connection... but you may be one of those people so desperate to drift away on your phone, you need to use it while charging. The mini USB connector prior to this was worse if you used it while charging. It got weak very easy. This one can too. Put your phone down while charging, it will last a hell of a lot longer.

Just a friendly tip, if your cable is loose its probably just wearing out. Make sure when you plug things in you're not shoving it in sideways or slipping in one side before the other. Line up the connector straight and push it in, it shouldn't take any effort. If you don't abuse the port it should keep a firm connection for a long time.

Yes. Say what you will about the clunky and somewhat awkward USB 3.0 port, those things were incredibly sturdy. You had to go out of your way and try to damage it. USB C gets damaged if you look at it wrong. As far as charging, I barely notice the difference between fast charging on my S8 with USB C (when it works, because the port, ,despite being less than 2 years old is so loose that the rotation of the Earth is enough to knock the cable out) and my old S5 (with a port that after 3 years of use and abuse didn't even let the cable wiggle).

Just squeeze the adapter end into your fingers and it will get tight again :) I never had a problem with the cable from Baseus , but pixel 3 speaker adapter is cheaper i guess :))

Dental floss micro brush, swich cleaner and compressed air has kept my phones going. Don't go nuts with the switch cleaner like this guy, spray/soak the micro brush and clean.

Hey buddy. It's actually compressed pocket lint. Get a sewing needle and probe around the plug. You'll be surprised how much stuff you grab out.

I thought mine was clean, it looked spotless but apparently it wasn't and this worked after some serious tooth picking

I got a little hope form your video dude. I have nokia 6.1 plus and many users are facing the similar problem of usb type c connecting and disconnecting and everyone is complaining about the malfunctioning of charging port. I hope it's really a matter of lint.. what's your opinion on this mate? Because everyone is facing this issue after using phone for 3 months

I have a question, I checked, it's clean, it's working perfect, it's good enough to hang upside down, but if you pick it up, or something, it will just hear a slight delay between picking the phone and the charger moving

You know what would`ve been even better? If Android had some kind of usb technology that rarely if ever had connection issues, and could charge just as well, and was also so common you could get connections in the dollar store if you wanted. Oh wait they did it was called USB micro and AUX connections and then they decided to try to copy Crapple and make everything with 1 connection that is not common in the slightest...sorry I'm not bitter...
