Hey everyone! As a reminder, the goal of this video is to appreciate the friendship between Tifa and Aerith, not to debate about the love triangle. It’s ok to have a neutral stance or to be one side or the other side as long as you’re respectful about it. I want to create and maintain a healthy comment section where people feel comfortable with having healthy discussions about this game that means so much to us. As I said in these videos, I will remove comments that are hostile or divisive in order to maintain a positive community. Please focus on what unites us as a fandom instead of what divides us. Thank you! 🙏
i love their friendship! they have such a cute and energetic vibe together, the way they always cheer and encourage each other is just the cutest thing!
I'm so happy that Rebirth included the scene of Tifa confiding in Aerith during their stay in Kalm. Tifa never sharing her thoughts and fears with anybody was always something that annoyed me a little in the OG. (I get that she feared the others might behave differently around Cloud if she's tell them what she knows but still...) I'm a little sad though that we never got to see the scene of Tifa and Aerith talking about boys while on the way to Costa del Sol. I'm sure it would have been a very entertaining watch. :D (But I guess the developers wanted to leave it to the player's imagination if Aerith would also be gushing about Cloud or if she would talk more about Zack.)
@@labrynna87 That change made me really happy too. Tifa is my favorite character and I understand that it’s very hard for her to talk about things that bother her, so it makes me really happy that she told Aerith because it is a big deal. It is actually the biggest evidence to me now that their friendship was very deep. She knew that she could trust Aerith with this. In the case of the OG, I definitely chalk that up to hardware limitations and characterization-wise what you said too, but I’m really glad that the developers took this opportunity to develop their friendship as well as show Tifa’s growth as a character. I’m sad that we never got that scene too, but it does make sense. There needed to be some mystery, and I like that their boy talk was just between them. I also think that the inclusion would’ve taken too much focus of the game to be put in the romantic subplots. The evidence of the conversation is definitely there though, so I thought that was fun!
There are a few scenes between Aerith and Tifa that we didn't get to see, that I missed, especially the scene that is very deliberately not shown to us of when Tifa tells Aerith that Cloud thinks Zack is dead, and they apparantly agreed not to tell Cloud they spoke about it. We were teased, but we were not shown that full scene for a reason. I hope that we get to see the full scene as a flashback in part 3. Do they talk about what Tifa witnessed vs what Cloud said? Do they talk about Cloud's questionable mental state? I would really love to see that.
@@elfsong713 Ooh! Good catch! It did seem odd to me that that scene was cut after Aerith reacted to Tifa telling her. I hope we’ll get to see the full scene in part 3 too.
@@elfsong713 Oh yes, I would love to see that as a flashback, too! From what we get to see, I'm quite sure Aerith and Tifa are very open and honest with each other and Aerith knows everything Tifa knows. I mean, Tifa confessed in Aerith that, in her memory, Cloud never was in Nibelheim 5 years ago. And we also know that Tifa knows that Aerith is searching for clues about Zacks whereabouts (She obviously knew that Aerith planned to talk to Zack's parents while they were in Gongaga.). Therefore, I can neither imagine that Tifa wouldn't tell Aerith "You are searching for a SOLDIER named Zack? Was he tall, with black hair and a big scar on his cheek? I met a SOLDIER named Zack 5 years ago in Nibelheim." not that Aerith wouldn't ask Tifa what happened in Nibelheim according to her memories. I think she knows Zack was in Nibelheim before he disappeared and she for sure knows that Tifa was there around that time.
@@labrynna87 yeah, the scene in Gongaga indicates that they have extensively discussed Zack. They seem surprised that Cloud doesn't know him, because if he was also in SOLDIER, he *should* know Zack.
What are your thoughts on the "on a date" scene when the party reunite sequence in Kalm ? I noticed it was not in your video, so just wanted to get your thoughts on this. To be fair, ill share mine first, just so you know I am asking in good faith not trying to start something 🤣 My take, is that it simply leans into Aerith's forward/playful & at times oblivious nature(to social settings or reading the room, not maliciously of course); Which also plays to contrast Tifa, who is almost the opposite, where she might not always voice her opinion & even if she does, she would be reading the room before doing so.
@@JudasLegion666 Honestly, I thought about adding it, but ultimately decided not to because I felt like it was going into the LTD too much and I didn’t want to make the video about that (even though I’m definitely not shy about being a Cloti). But since you brought it up, I don’t see the harm in sharing my opinion. I think there’s merit in what you’re saying. Aerith is playful, but also doesn’t have a lot of experience with being in social settings and the politics that are there. I think she’s also trying to get a reaction out of Tifa. Aerith’s smart. She knows that Tifa cares deeply about Cloud. Aerith brought Cloud to the clock tower in the first place to basically tell him to make up with Tifa and to not take her for granted. She also knows that Tifa doesn’t talk about her feelings and is trying to push her out of that more. People talk a lot about how Aerith helps break through some of Cloud’s shell, but she also does that with Tifa. It comes with the territory of having an open personality. I know this because I also have an open personality and have seen firsthand that it doesn’t take that much effort for me to get people to open up. Of course I could be wrong about this interpretation, as I’m not Aerith and can’t read her mind, but it’s my read of the situation. I agree with you though; Aerith didn’t mean any harm by it. She has good intentions. And Tifa is very much what you said. The contrast is very fun and makes them really work well as friends. Thanks for your question and for bringing it up in a non-confrontational way. It was fun to think about.
Even though it's only a video game, I became attached to the characters. They did a beautiful job. I knew what the ending of this game would be like but I was hoping somehow it would change. Obviously death is hard in real life and I had to come to terms that Aerith wouldn't play the same role ever again she did in this game.
@@fortify1123 I totally get that. Aerith’s death was incredibly shocking in the OG and devastated the fans. I know that the remake games rekindled the hope that she’d end up alive. And maybe she is in another timeline. (I’m not a believer in that theory, but I get it if some people do.) But yeah, she’s such a beautifully written character that it just makes her fate that much more tragic, but also impactful. I think we will see a lot of Omni Aerith in part 3 and also get some much needed closure.
28:45, I'm surprised that you omitted the detail where, from Tifa's viewpoint, the scene experiences a glitch-like effect, alternating between a version where Aerith is drenched in blood and another where she is unscathed. Doesn't that seem odd to you?
@@keyblademasterct2 I omitted that detail on purpose as I am planning on making a video about Aerith’s death scene. This wasn’t the video for that, but I promise my thoughts and theories on that is coming.
Just finished your 1st Tifa Aerith video and this one appeared. In the og, Tifa and Aerith don't have much of a relationship at all. Other than talking at Corneos palace I don't recall the 2 having any actual time together to form a friendship. Rebirth is the best game since Skyrim hands down. It presents the best character development in games or media today. You see so much detail og couldn't. The looking at heads down mention conveys feeling the og never could. The remake series was made to expand and put an end to the Tifa or Aerith debate. Another channel brings up that it's Tifa who Cloud has intimate moments with no matter what or who you date. The debate is over whether some want to admit it or not. I thought there was a shot Sephirith would kill Tifa at the end of Rebirth. The entire game he is trying to kill her or have Cloud kill her. So I wondered if he'd kill her at the end instead of Aerith. In Rebirth it is like Sephiroth kills Aerith as Plan B. I like the change though. It means Sephiroth sees Tifa as the true hero of the group. By removing her he'd win.
I talked about this in my Gongaga video that Sephiroth has been trying to kill Tifa/ have Cloud kill her because he knows that she’s the one that will help Cloud find his real self in the Lifestream sequence. Like you I was scared that he would kill her at the end, but I also remembered that the devs said that they would keep the most important plot points in. Not killing Aerith off would lessen the emotional impact of the story. I think that maybe Sephiroth decided to kill Aerith since the white Materia became clear, so therefore Holy couldn’t activate. Plus Cloud got ahold of the other black materia in the gap between worlds. Sephiroth is definitely playing chess here. It is possible though that he will attempt to get Tifa out of the picture again before the Lifestream sequence. We’ll just have to wait for part 3. I agree with you though. My horse in the race is definitely Cloti and these games really solidified that for me because of the bond and intimacy between the two. I definitely plan on making a video about it in the future. But yeah, the character development is amazing! I’m such a fan of the expansion they made to these characters and their relationships with each other that couldn’t be done in the OG. Thanks for your comment! I really love having these kinds of discussions about these games. The devs really gave the fandom so much to talk about and to theorize, which has been so much fun.
@SNWSTORM My interpretation of the end cut scene is Tifa is more heartbroken than anybody else about Aerith's death. And I think its due to what you're pointing out here in these 2 videos. Aerith and Tifa forming a friendship. The only time I saw competition between them was in Remake. When Aerith grabs Cloud's arm in a flirty way. Tifa sees this and immediately grabs Cloud's other arm. Telling Aerith via her behavior, "This is my man. Stay away." Tifa, as far as we know, has never been in a romantic relationship. Despite her attire, she's quite shy and reserve about everything except protecting others "motherly behavior". Meanwhile Aerith is dressed much more conservatively than Tifa, yet she is the far flirtier one. We know factually she's been in a romantic relationship at least once. I always thought it interesting Square did this. Making the clothing be the opposite of their behavior. Tifa certainly gets attention, but she's not really aware of it. Aerith actively seeks the attention, and gets it.
@ Ooh! You’re making a really good point here! It’s such an interesting subversion that their clothing is the opposite of their personalities as far as their flirting styles. I think in the same interview I referenced in my last video, Briana talked about how Zack influenced Aerith’s open personality, so you’re making a really good point about her. I think that Tifa is somewhat aware that she gets attention because of the way she’s dressed and her striking looks. In Traces of Two Pasts it talks about her life in Midgar and how she was set up with a job to sell steam buns because her looks brought in a lot of business. I did find another scene in this game where there was a competition moment and that was in Kalm when they were escaping in the passage. Aerith grabbed his arm and said that they were on a date. Tifa said “What?” and looked upset. I kind of see it as her being a little troll and maybe trying to get Tifa to be less reserved about him. Idk. It’s up to interpretation for sure, but later she definitely talks to Tifa about Zack. It’s definitely complicated, but I remain in my stance that they wouldn’t allow Cloud to get between their friendship.
@SNWSTORM Regarding that scene of Aerith being a troll, I think she is trying to get the two to admit how they feel for one another. We have the northern crater scene for that. I can't wait to see it. I'd like to see the 2 marry at the end of the game like Tales of Arise. Not just be a 1 night stand.
@@DS94everXev I would love for them to be canonically together by the end, but Square might opt for being ambiguous because the debate keeps a lot of people talking.
