Love my WILDPEAK A/T AT3WA as a step down from the BFs
I am using 225/75/16 Michelle Agilis Cross Climate on my 4x4 , great on wet rocks, side protection good enough, no so good in the mud but big + advantage i can visit europe even in the winter time M+S on side wall, great video btw👌
Thanks for sharing and thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated.
I have Agilis CrossClimates for 3 years on my t5 4motion, great ones, no need for more grip in a car without reductor or diflock
With a diff lock, these tires allow you to do more off-road while not having a terrible ride on pavement. The less capable your vehicle is, the more aggressive of a tire you need if you're off pavement
Thanks for this! Lots of hard work in research and great insight into your experience. I’ve got a mk8 transit and what you’ve said about the bfg and using lower gearing has put me off. The cross climates look great and I think prob a more sensible option. Thanks for this insightful review
Glad it was helpful!
Here in the UK bfg all terrains are £250 a tyre. Maxxis do a remould for £156 so thats my next tyre to try. Ive had the Agillis on and they are very hard wearing
When I watched your video a few months back, it's made me consider the usual camper van path. I have a Sprinter 5t twin wheel van, and imagined I'd also go the A/T tyre route. But I was always considering that if Mercedes spent millions designing the van, maybe the tyre size (195/75/16) Axle ratio, automatic gearbox gearing were all designed at one item. Then watching your video it confirmed my worry. I'm now considering a slight increase to 205/75/16's in the Michelin Agillis Crossclimates. I'll be travelling round the world and wanted A/T's, for the extra insurance of the side walls and handling of gravel roads. So after a year, are you a confirmed standard size tyre man, or have you updated thoughts on the matter. Seriously hard to find a voice of caution like yours, so any advice would be gratefully received.
The simple answer is yes. Very happy with the CrossClimates in all conditions. Sounds like you have an epic journey planned. I hope all your adventures are great ones!
Fitted these on my transit, felt a bit heavier & stiff, tuck a bit of the nippiness away on take off but apart from that they're great
The more I drive with them the better I feel about them especially after 1 or 3 long drives in torrential rain...
Very helpful. Thank you
Glad it was of use to you. Thanks for the feedback.
Kleber are a good brand too, my understanding is they are made by Michelin's factory in Eastern Europe, so they are good quality just a bit cheaper. Very useful video by the way, I have to say I can't see the off road tyres helping a lot in mud on a RWD drive vehicle, my experiences in muddy fields is that the treads just fill up with mud, I agree the all season tyres with the Mud/Snow symbol are a good compomise for British roads and are great on wet grass as long as it hasnt turned to mud.
Thanks for the feedback. Agree on the rear wheel drive issue, rubbish in mud (The BFG's on the Defender were not that great in snow either at seriously sub zero temperatures when the ridges filled up and the snow turned to ice). The wider BFG's were great for the plethora of potholes everywhere you drive up here in Scotland though... Very happy with the CrossClimates, but definitely not an off road tyre on a Sprinter
The BFGs are an excellent tyre, BUT they are a heavy tyre this affects acceleration and braking as they take more energy to get them up to speed and they act like a big flywheel when braking, this increases pad wear. I have them on a Hilux in standard size and lost 2mpg over the factory fit tyres and brake pads lasted 15k less (both genuine pads) they are fine in my application as the pros outweigh the cons but I wouldn’t fit them to out T5 it will be Michelin CC2s when it’s due tyres.
Thanks for the info!
I'm considering 225/75/16 BFG AT on my Sprinter, I wonder if you would have been happier with that size and maybe kept them? Did you factor in the increase in circumference of the 245's in your increased fuel consumption? Thanks for the video 😊
It seems like a long time ago, but I am pretty sure they were my 2nd choice but at the time I was a bit obsessed with the wider tyres as I had already had a good experience with them on my old Defender... In terms of fuel consumption, when I bought them I kind of assumed that despite the greater circumference each turn of the wheel would just take me a bit further than the originals and the consumption would kind of balance out at close to the same. I did not foresee the need to be in a lower gear quite so often and therefore use more fuel. Thanks for the thanks...
@@RedNemesisDogPrime thanks, I've ordered my 225/75s now, hopefully I'm happy with them 😁 (same as you I've used the BFG's on past vehicles and I was very happy with them)
What Tyre would you suggest for my ford transit fwd ? I would be hauling up to 1tonne of tools daily
I am probably not the right person to ask as I am no expert. As I understand it you have to get tyres that can deal with the axle weight as a priority. After that, its about size and durability I guess. I specifically wanted the cross climate because of the weather up here in Scotland.
I now am on my second van with the Michelins and are just so good. Ride, safety, durability, grip and chunky looks . Just now want to compare in snow.
Have you considered getting a remap done to up power and torque?
I did consider a remap way-back-when but other priorities took precedent as is often the case.
I wonder if these would fit on my 2013 iLoad 😊

The US version of that exact same tire does NOT look like that.
How odd....
@@RedNemesisDogPrime I did find the difference between treads is the C235, and the LT235. I guess the C235 is obsolete and discontinued, or is European only.
@@VEHICROS In the US the tire you get is the "Agilis CrossClimate LT", in Europe it's the non-LT version. Close name but different tire, I think the US version is non-directional.
@@Fe_lix Yes, I figured that out a while back but ended up with Falken Wild Peaks, which are great.
@@Fe_lix the US has both versions, I have both in the US😂
Michelins are noisy! Great tire but loud..
Yep! Have to agree especially when compared to the BFG's.
I am going to check BFG Trail Terrains soon.. 72 dB only.. we will see
