Driving sports TV compared the 2 in extreme snow, and the Crosstrek wilderness hands down beat the Rav 4. The Subaru’s cimetrical all wheel drive is on at all times and it has a 3 peek tire. With the x-mode deep snow & mud, the crosstrek created its own path in over a foot of untouched fresh snow on an incline! The RAV 4 TRD doesn’t have 3 peek tires. The Crosstrek Wilderness also has 9.3 inches of ground clearance with a 20 inch approach and departure angle. The RAV 4 has an 8.6 ground clearance, a 19 inch approach and 21 inch departure. The RAV 4 continued to stall and turn off in deep snow that was already plowed by the Subaru! The Toyota had to air down its tires and the all wheel drive system continued to overheat! The Subaru has a dedicated auxiliary cooling system for the CVT, hence it didn’t overheat. The Subaru’s also has a horizontally opposed boxer engine making the center of gravity down low and the engine sits just in front of the centerline axle. It’s mechanically configured better in my opinion.
I love the styling and some stuff in the rav-4 but I hate the AWD system. I hate how it’s primarily front wheel drive and then a little rear wheel drove when the front wheels slip. I have a 2006 Subaru forester and it’s AWD is great
Absolutely agree!! I have been directing people to that UA-cam and the absolutely abysmal performance by the Rav4 and absolute dominance by the Crosstrek. The Rav4 literally overheated and wouldn't restart. Additionally, the drive quality and extremely uncomfortable cabin in the Rav4 are just totally unacceptable from a '24 Toyota. Subaru dominates in AWD, and the Crosstrek is truly unstoppable and just really well designed. Absolutely no contest across the board 😃😃😃😃
@indaydongtv5139 I would. One of my co-workers moved from my service department at Audi to Toyota and that AWD system is on the lower end for Japanese brands. Toyota is also on a big decline for quality BUT that applies to all brands as of now. 2024 was a bad year for everyone mechanically.
The infotainment screen works great and is super easy to use. The most used and important controls on the screen are physical buttons. For me, it’s one of the best features of the car.
I was thinking about getting Rav4 TRD Offroad until I found out about the Outback Wilderness. Bought the 2024 Outback Wilderness in Jan. and I'm really glad I did.
Pretty comprehensive review. Enjoyed seeing both vehicles in interested in compared. Most reviewers tend to only compare the Crosstrek to other small SUVs like the HRV or Corolla Cross. If you’re interested in the wilderness trim I think the RAV4 TRD is more likely to be cross shopped.
Excellent job Boys!! I always had /bought Toyotas in the past. After driving my 2024 Crosstrek Wilderness for 2 months, will NEVER buy another non Subaru car!
Just bought a limted only thing I would have liked is the alumanim skid plate instead of a plastic one and the tires the wilderness came with oh ya and the rubber matts for the cargo area that are in the prise of the wilderness. I no all this shit can be added latter sept the alumanim skid plate thats just how I see it. All and all love my cross treck.
They did not have a wilderness when i picked up my subaru 3 days ago was disapointed but I picked up the second best I got the limited cross instead and I have to say am pleased with it. I too will never buy another toyota mainly because of how the dealer treated me at the dealer ship. Plus the 4 wheel drive is superiour in every way to what toyota has to offer. We deal with a lot of snow where I live.
@@pattersonthomasj Agree I did go there first to try and order a new carola but they were not interested in even doing that so you no how that went Subaru so far have had the car only a few months and am still very impresd with it.
The Subaru infotainment screen and functionality is fantastic, don't know how you don't like it over that dinky Toyota screen. Also, you may want to invest in a couple of cheap tripods so you can film the vehicle driving through the 'deep' snow (that we didn't see).
Rav4 TRD is absolute fuckin garbage. I've owned both Subarus and Toyotas and drove a Rav4 TRD for 6 months and hardddd passs. The drive quality was garbage, and the interior and driver's seat was just sooo extremely uncomfortable. It suckksss as I wanted to love the Rav4 and was ready to buy one, however rannn the other way after my 6 months driving it. Additionally, look up the Rav4 TRD and Subaru Crosstrek head to head snow test and the Rav4 was destroyed and literally overheated and wouldn't restart 🤣🤣🤣🤣
You didn’t mention approach or departure angles or ground Clarence, which is Subaru is the clear winner!! But also great video guys!!! And actually the Forrester is what competes with the RAV4!!! Not the outback!!!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed the video! I believe that Chase touched on some of that in the original Crosstrek review that he did but, definitely something we will add for future comparisons.
The stock OEM tires on this car are not the same Falkens ones sold retail, and are not severe snow rated. Junk the 01 stock tires and replace with real Falken Wildpeak Tires, which are severe snow rated and have a much deeper tread. Shame on Toyota for putting crappy tires on this nice car. I own one and this is my only complaint.
2024 Rav Model also gets digital multi info screen in Europe. The USA models have too many trim models. In Europe we get all possible options in like 4 levels trims. As for Rav4 vs Crosstreck, I cannot even compare them. Toyota was and it will always be the king in terms of reliability, consumption, etc. For all Subaru supporters, wait for your first serious service. You will see then. Also the infotainment from Subaru looks like 2010. The lack of respone?! For real? In 2024? It was same for Toyota until they finally listened and they replaved that trash old infotainment. The 2024 one is something else. Same as the cameras.Again Subaru, no power lift in 2024 Also no ventilated chairs on Subaru. Praise it more big fans of Subaru. I owned both Toyota and Subaru same time for like 15 years. SUBARU SUCKS
Definitelly wouldn't buy (another) Subaru ever again. Yes, the AWD is unmatched in the price category, but that's about it. Everything else gives me a headache. Nope. Toyota all the way
Rav is a different class in size Forester would completely destroy the Rav I worked for Toyota and their business model sucks sell sell sell and lie lie lie just like timeshare,I sold them both 😂
I have been blessed to own every pick up truck under the sun and I have to say that the taco what is the biggest piece of trash I ever moment got rid of it after only eight months I do not understand what people like about Toyotas had to get rid of both of them before having them for a year couldn’t stand them. I will take a Subaru that I’ve had a few of them as well over anything Toyota makes I think it’s overpriced garbage I don’t get it Solis not fine Jess cutlass Toyota vehicles, man, Subaru all day probably Honda for Subaru and probably Nissan trucks number one with Ford and ram behind them and jeep jeep gladiators Bre truck to
I’m sure you’re aware that the apples to apples comparison would be the Rav-4 vs Forester but great job comparing these two.
Roger this is an odd comparison compact vs sub compact
Toyota has tons of recalls too
