@@FuutPrn ya I’ve been disappointed with the song choices he’s made, they’ve all been good to great songs but he’s gotta do one of their 10min+ masterpieces, those songs are special and perfect for this type of thing
The new Mastodon album is incredible and my favorite album of 2021. Pushing the Tides was an excellent radio single to get fans hyped BUT there are many, MANY other tracks that took me by surprise. Proof that Mastodon is one of the best bands of our time. You must check out other Hushed and Grim songs!
When you said "Ethereal metal" I immediately thought of the band ALCEST. I would highly recommend their songs "Autre Temps" and "Kodama" just to name a few. Absolutely gorgeous melodies and well written songs. Honestly they haven't written a bad song imo.
Awesome! The more Mastodon the better. Please consider doing the track Hearts Alive, from the album Leviathan. Again, that’s Hearts Alive. Did I mention Hearts Alive?
Absolutely the best band playing today. Troy's bass tone destroys. I love at 5:48 he's slamming on a big chord on the bass and holding it. As always, Brann's drumming is just stellar. And the amazing layering by Bill and Brent.
Geebz, the next time you want to do a big project for this channel, you should absolutely sit down and do Mastodon's _Crack the Skye._ Like, maybe the whole album. It would be monumental! You already have so many people suggesting one of the many stand out tracks off the album, but I just wanted to chime in and say thanks for getting back to Mastodon! Truly one of the best metal bands that most would consider mainstream nowadays, and their members are so chill, so down to earth, and so freaking talented it's crazy (like seriously, Brann Dailor is one of my favorite drummers, and I don't even play drums!) Love the vid, and thanks for keeping on, Geebz! Rest up with your shoulder, and hope all goes well with recovery. Appreciate it, man. Keep on rockin'!
I'm still here. Mastodon is a special band, not enough creative groups like them in the genre right now. They're getting to be decomposers themselves after all these years, but still crankin' it!
This is the best reaction channel on youtube in my opinion. You point out things in the songs that I didn't notice before, it is fascinating. You have a good ear
I'm loving this album since it came out! My favorite is this and "More Than I Could Chew". Man, I've been so busy I have lots of videos of yours to binge and catch up. But love to see you continuing this year. Gonna check your update on your surgery. Seems it went well. Just happy to see new videos. 😁🤘

Hushed and Grim didn't end up in my album top 15 of 2021 for nothing (3rd spot)! Such a diverse (double) album with so many layers indeed! I felt it was a good record from the start but the more you listen to it, the better it gets and gets and gets! Superb! Cool vid again Geebz! Always love the facial expressions when a band surprises you in any way, shape or form! Keep it up! I'M STILL HERE!
Geebz, I hope you are doing well. Thanks for a Mastodon video. Not something we deserved but truly something we have waited for some time:) I'm a big fan of the band, so any song will do for me, but if I may say so, you need to do The Czar or The Last Baron. And I think people here will support me on that. And also, man, you got to check out Pain of Salvation, an outstanding prog band but totally underrated.
I would like to recommend listening to Mastodon - Toe to Toes and watch the in studio performance and it is just magical. I would also like to add in The Czar and Oblivion as some of the bands best songs but to me my favorite is Toe to Toes!
This track is from the 2021 album Hushed and Grim. A concept double album and a true masterpiece. 15 tracks running over 87 minutes and not even 1 track that is below the rest in any way. The most consistently brilliant rock album I ever heard and the best album of 2021 if you ask me. Please delve into the rest of this album as soon as you can, track by track!
I'm like two months behind on your uploads but when I saw you posted this I had to watch immediately. Their new album was my favorite album of 2021. My favorite track is Sickle and Peace, but Gobblers of Dregs is also great. Also still waiting for The Czar and The Last Baron from their Crack the Skye album
Day 18 of asking when the next MUSE breakdown is going to be -- so many beautiful tracks with string arrangements, arpeggiated synths, Matt's voice, and some of the coolest bass lines you'll enjoy for sure. Here is a list of potentials: - Citizen Erased, United States of Eurasia, City of Delusion, New Born, Hyper Music, the list goes on...
I would recommend the band Killer Be Killed: Troy Sanders (Mastodon) singing/bass guitar, Max Cavalera (Sepultura, Soulfly, Cavalera Conspiracy) singing/rhythm guitar, Greg Puciato (Dillinger Escape plan) singing/lead guitar, with Ben Koller playing drums.
I have returned. Been stuck in my head the last few weeks. No matter how you feel about long songs (I honestly don't know), I will still suggest Mastodon's Hearts Alive. It's epic to me, and it might be to you. It was released back when their vocals were harsher, but that doesn't take away from the beauty of the song. The harshness, I feel, enhances the depicted madness of Ahab's journey, as told across the album. It's full of a lot of good riffs, drum work, and an amazing solo. It's not a boring 13 minutes. There's also one section of the song where Troy stops playing the bass for a bit, but then starts again. He does that a bit on some other songs as well such as Crystal Skull. Sometimes I focus too much on the guitars, so it's a great reminder of its importance.
Please do ‘The Last Baron’ I think there’d be so much you’d enjoy about it. Multiple singers, funky prog riffs, groovy bass lines, etc. It’s got a couple leads in it that remind me of YYZ by Rush
Yea buddy. Mend that arm. Old meshuggah. Gods of rapture off of the nine album. That is with your time. Time changes melodic solos. Oooooooo. Can’t wait. Thanks Always still here. Awwlright
Still here... Gone is Gone is a great experimental metal super group with Mastodon's voice. Now I think the influence has started working in the other direction. This new Mastodon album is the most complex and wonderful thing to come out of 2021. Try Violescent or Echolocation from GiG.
Hey alright good one! I have liked Mastodon and seen them live, but never an all time favorite. But the last album I really love, especially this track but plenty of gems on hushed and grim! (c=
Check out The Czar, The Last Baron (both off Crack the Skye - one of the best progressive metal albums ever, full stop) or, off this newest album The Beast - just a crazy good Southern Rock/metal mashup.
I need to get more into this record. I love all Mastodon, this record came out and it didn't immediately grab me, then I had discovered Gojira at the same time and became obsessed with their newest record so Hushed and Grim has been on the back burner til now! Random request sir, I'd love to see you do anything (if you haven't already of course) by Them Crooked Vultures. They're a side band with Josh Homme, Dave Grohl, and JOHN PAUL JONES. The song Scumbag Blues maybe but that whole record is so damn good and you'd fuckin love it Geebz.
I really didn't like it at first, but after like 5 or so listens honestly it's up there with my favourite albums of all time let alone just mastodon stuff. It's incredible.
@@lucastheworldis1336 I'm gonna give it some repeat listens. Some of my favourite records were ones I didn't like at first then liked more and more as they grew on me
I don't usually see a lot of love but their EP "Cold Dark Place" and the song "Jaguar God" really have something... Or I might be getting old... But there are some slower nuances that really mess with me like drugs with someone addicted...
You absolutely need to do Won't Stand Down by Muse. Just came out last week and for once all the Muse fans can agree that it is a great song. You've done one of their songs before.
The Czar by Mastodon only is a gem waiting to be unearthed by you. One of their top 3 songs imo along with Hearts Alive and the Last Baron.
Ya I’m still waiting for him to do one of their 10+ epics, those 3 songs are godly and perfect for breakdown like this.
I've been begging for a decomp of the czar. such a frikkin masterpiece !!!

The new double album is really good. It takes you on a journey as a real album truly should.
i would definitely reccomend "More Than I Could Chew" from the same album, its an intense song
Definitely
One of my favs off the album, which is phenomenal
Love that one.
That main riff is so good. The other parts are ok but that main piece keeps me coming back
Troy’s vocals have evolved into molten lava I love it
There's so many songs on that album that I would love to see you react. More Than I Could Chew and Eyes of Serpents would be excellent choices!

I just recently discovered that band on a “post rock” playlist on Spotify!!
Yes! Alcest is so good. Saw them in Grand Rapids maybe 5 years ago- one of the best, cleanest performances I've ever heard.
The Beast through this track is a really great line up of songs.
"The Beast" might be my favorite song on the albums. The songs where Brann, Brent and Troy all take lead are the best.

Gobblers of Dregs is glorious, best song on the album for me.
When I first listened to the album, "Pain with an Anchor" blew my mind. The way it sets up the new sound of this album. The emotions of it. So sick.
@@mikeluque6527 seeing the heavy ass ending of that songs live was glorious. That was vintage Bill riffage.
