- Chrysler Pacifica hybrid battery change. This isn't the high voltage propulsion battery, but the 12-volt battery. After getting over it's odd location, It's not too bad of a dead battery change.

Thanks for the video. I found it difficult to find info on the Pacifica Hybrid *12V* battery and the PacHy forums have a lot of mis-information. Apparently changing the battery is just the same as any other car but I would not have dared pull so hard on that interior panel without seeing you do it first. I still have an engine light on but it starts, drives and charges now. I will get out the OBD reader and see what it says. Thanks again!
Exactly why I made this, super glad it helped you! Make sure you have the recalls up to date. We were almost able to convince the dealership to pay for the battery due to it's close relationship to a recall. My wife made the mistake to bring it there to get the OBD read, $75 down the drain when Autozone will do it free..
After putting the new battery in - I also had the engine light on but after driving for about 30 minutes last night after installing the battery - the engine light was off this morning.
You sounded like "The Count" from Sesame Street. One twist, two twists, three twists ....... LOL :)
I realized it too, two counts in and embraced it 🧛
Hi Koven! Thanks for the nice and short video. What tool did you use to screw and unscrew the battery?
something like a 10mm nut, don't recall exactly
Is it as simple as removing and replacing as you did in this video or does one have to shut off the high voltage system (well going to floor and switching hv connect off)?
Unsure, but I simply swapped it out like any other 12v battery.
@@kove Yeah I just did the same....followed your video and it was easy to do in the end. (I even dropped the nut below the battery ledge as you did ..thinking to myself be careful not to drop the nut :) ...but thanks for posting this - it really did help alot.
Great to hear! Lol, yeah that little nut is feisty
big help. thanks!
great to hear, welcome!
If you’re not sure which terminal is which,
Use a multimeter, it will tell you,
If you put the probes on the wrong terminals the reading on the multimeter will show a negative value.
That would have been a good part of training. Guess that's why I wasn't fired 🤔

The battery was though.
😁
😂 😂
I think my 12v just died, but nothing works at all, no dash lights, and the rear lift gate does not open. I think I may have to just get it towed to the shop to be safe.
Sorry to hear. Oddly enough, ours just died today as well. It stalled while driving and a little red battery light came on.
@@kove I got a replacement from a local auto parts store today, had to climb in through the side doors and fold the rear seats down. Got the panel off and swapped out the old battery with the new one. Right away the horn starts to honk, I hit the unlock button on the key fob, then had the most rewarding double click of the rear lift gate ever. Kind of like an elaborate escape room scenario out of MacGyver or something. Swap out the battery to open the door and escape the minivan!
@@glendoggett9670 As you did the swap out ..did you turn off the high voltage connect or just followed this video step by step (without ice smashing ;) )
@@okonnors2 I did not do any high voltage disconnects, but was just careful to keep both of the battery terminals isolated so neither made contact with any metal parts, or people, and used thick gloves when removing and reinstalling the cable brackets to the battery terminals.
You skipped removing the 2 star screws in the upper compartment before removing the panel.
dang it!
What year Pacifica Hybrid year is yours? Did you disconnect all the other things?
2018. I disconnected the two battery terminals. Unsure if I was supposed to do more..
@@kove thank you for the only video that's relevant to this auxillary battery replacement for hybrid!
@@samtrang YES ! So few videos on how to replace the battery and indeed how to open the liftgate manually if one has total loss of power and one needs to open the liftgate to do the battery replacement. Koven describes the process for battery clearly and accurately. (Thank you !) As for the liftgate..once you take off the cover (small panel in the middle of the liftgate interior) - there are 2 latches on the PX side of the cavity...the larger one is visible and the smaller lever is not immediately visible. The trick is to use a finger or screwdriver to move the larger level out of the way so you can access the smaller lever which actually does open the liftgate.
Love your kids! So how do you like your Pacifica so far? I really want to buy that car and heard a lot of reliability issues. Any thoughts on that?
Thanks Drone! It was the first year the model came out, so there were some bugs that don't happen anymore. Minus those I'd give it 8/10. The battery could be bigger, sometimes the auto doors don't close, and the dvd system is incredibly slow and annoying.
Don't buy it. Bought 2018 Hybrid limited and nothing but problems in Chrysler way. Lucky we paid extended warranty expecting problems.
Good times smashing ice
Anytime we walk by, they have to do it now. "Just one smash!!"
little funny man thanks for the video
Thanks Matthew!
What an odd place to put the battery
What gets me, nowhere in the original equipment or manuals does it show where it's at. Some reason they don't want people messing with I suppose.
@@kove all about money. If you can’t find it you have to pay for someone to find it
@@MikeHaddadLawnAddictions dealership wanted $600+ 🤣
The best......
Thanks Mark! What temps are you guys dropping to tonight??🥶
@@kove -30 with wind chill.
Good God. It was nice knowing you Mark..💀🧊
Good job avoiding showing that the car still doesn't start.
Phone went out. 🥶 Besides, I never said I was going to fix it...😉
@@kove LOL!
@@kove You didn't get it fixed? What was wrong with it?
DID YOU USE A MEMORY SAVER🙁
nope
