We did get as close as the Fukui Shinkansen Station and fully agree that even that is both dinosaur centric and worth the visit. Our train pulled right up to a platform display of a pair of dinosaurs hovering over a nest of dinosaur eggs with their necks arched to form a heart. It was fun to watch a kid Leo's age walk up and become fully engaged. Even got some photos and a video as we pulled away. There have been dinosaur finds here in Alaska but yet to have a dedicated museum. Thanks so much for sharing your visit to Fukui's Dinosaur Museum. In March time limitations kept us from getting all the way to the museum so really appreciated your making the effort to let us see what we can look forward to on a return trip to Japan.
Nice! Quite similar to the Royal Tyrell Museum of Paleontology near Drumheller, Alberta, Canada. The Badlands are nearby, still actively explored for new fossils and many found fossils are displayed at the museum. Good to check out if you visit Canada.Lots to see and do besides the dinosaurs.😊
Some of my best memories when I was a kid are from when I went to the Chicago museums: Science and Industry, Field Museum of Natural History (had the dinos), Shedd Aquarium, Adler Planetarium and the Art Institute. My parents used to take us a couple times a year, plus my grade schools took field trips. These places were magical to me as a youth and were instrumental in my goals as an adult. Perhaps Leo could one day be a museum director or archeologist. What a great thing that would be.
On my bucket list. ❤️🦖🦕. The Stegosaurus is my favorite too, my upper left arm is covered in a tattoo of one. There’s a great dinosaur museum in my home province of Alberta, the Royal Tyrrell Museum in drumheller.
Hey John! This looks like a fun museum. I really would take the trip out to Fukui to visit this museum. The mechanical Tyrannosaurus is impressive! I would have to plan this well to use mass transportation and find a place to stay.
It’s an easy day trip from Fukui city. Bus from Katsuyama Station is frequent or a few km hike through town. With the new Shinkansen extension to Fukui it’s a possible day trip!
Thank you john for showning the dinos. I wanted to go there but the museum was closed for renovation. O close buy there are excavation you can visit. Thit you go there as wel.
Aloha John. Aiyah! Missed this but caught the replay. This is a very cool looking museum that I would love to see up close. How much was the admission price and would've loved to see what that dino coffee is all about. Maybe they have dino donuts that look like a dinosaur egg or something. Lol. Mahalo for showing this to us my brother.
Agree Michael. I think John mentioned something like 1000 yen admission for adults and kids under 6 free. What a deal! Sure beats the $30 + dollars to get to see a dinosaur at the Bishop Museum in Honolulu. (FWIW I do have both a Dinosaur egg from a Jurassic Park movie and a real one at my office which you are welcome to view if you make here to Alaska. :)
@dalejay7843 Ahhh.. thank you for sharing. I missed that part of the replay on the price. And with the yen rates now things like this are very affordable. Well, for foreign tourist at least. Appreciate the info!
@@dalejay7843 Crazy. I just learned that every continent has dinosaur fossils but Hawaii has none. Reason is that Hawaii is only 6 million years old and the Dinosaurs died out 66 million years ago. Of course that isn't quite correct though since I did see a dinosaur skeleton at Honolulu's Bishop Museum. :)
Oh my God! He is looking right at you, John!!! Run!!! 😱 What an amazing experience. I watched the older video you mentioned and I loved that video too. I suspect this museum never gets old. ❤
Which one was the best after the first one (which was a classic!) I saw it when it first came out after having read the book - I was disappointed they cut the Pterodactyl scene that was in Crichton’s book but was very impressed with it all including the music 🎶
1000% worth going and 100000% worth to visit other areas outside of tokyo/osaka/kyoto/common tourist spots
Will be flying to Fukui this December and glad to see your video of it and it made me much excited. Thank you🙏
It’s difficult to believe these actually existed. But, there they are! So strange and so huge.
I know! They roamed the earth 🦖 😳 we need a Time Machine!

This brings back memories of those first vids I watched on this channel! It's been quite a journey. Great work as usual, John!

These kinds of museums inspire the next generation of greats!
My son is 18 and has wanted to be a paleontologist since he was 3. This is a must see when we go to visit!
Great content. This is like going to see the pyramids in Egypt, but far more comfortable and easier to go to.
Thank you John I am loving this series. This museum is amazing. Cheers to you and your family, Muffy from Oz (Australia)
Thank you for showing us the dinosaurs 😊

Ah, I’ve heard of the Royal Tyrrell Museum! On my list to visit 🤩 Hard to beat the tough Stegosaurus!
Thanks so much for sharing Japan with us. Safe journey.💃🏽
I'm hoping to go here in December - so cool!
WOW ! I didn’t know Japan 🇯🇵 had a dinosaur 🦕 🦖 museum 😳When was it built and how long had it been there ?
Thanks
Thanks for joining the mini tour inside 🦖
Thank you for this, amazing! One day I will come to see this. Best wishes from Sydney
Awesome! I wish I could see that super-cool museum.
Maan i was thinking the same thing... Gonna rewatch first 3 Jurassic movies
We found it was a great trip from Kanazawa on the train. A lot of fun.

Hey Craig, thank you! ^_^ fun day!
Wow, pretty cool place, even as an adult…for anyone! Not just for kids/boys!!!
Totally for adults! Kanae wants to read the info but Leo (and I) won’t let her 😂
The Akashi Municipal Planetarium in Hyogo Prefecture is calling you.
I have a couple of Akashi episodes ideas!
Looks like the architects were inspired by eggs! I already pinned this place as "want to go", after this "really want to go".
You can see that silver egg from space! 😂 maybe! Hahaha it was so shiny I saw it from the expressway.

I also was in Fukui from 5-8 th May, but didn't go to this Museum also recommend you go to Daihonzan Eiheiji and Maruoka Castle if you haven't been to
Oh man I so love palaeontology. I hope to visit Fukui one day. What month do you think is best to visit Fukui? This month (mid May) I guess.
Now! May :)
It officially opened on July 14, 2000
Have fun John I love museums like this I hope you and Leo have fun together
Jeff Godblums doppelgänger!

Freaky amazing details … 😳 🦖
I went there last week
Watch all 6 Jurassic movies!

@@onlyinjapanGO Jurassic Park 3. It has Pterodactyls!
@@onlyinjapanGO I vote for the one that came out in 3D! (Too bad Japan stopped making 3D TVs.)
Did you see Godzilla? LOL
Hi John, can you visit Takayama again? My Japanese friend wants to bring you to his pub!
