A Ghost Town
At the end of 2016 the suburb of Badgerys Creek will be levelled to make way for a new Airport (Badgerys Creek Airport).
A majority of houses have already been demolished.
There are countless driveways and white picket fences with no houses to complete the picture.
Very few residents remain.
Filmed in early 2016.
I went to this exact area about 3 months ago (August 2016), and saw all of this. Once the new airport gets built in this area this footage is going to be priceless. I admire the cameraman who has taken all this footage. Don't ever let anyone try and stop you mate from filming anything like this that is for memorabilia purposes and will be priceless once it no longer looks the way that it used to look.
That’s definitely true.
Sadly I lived right next to badgerys creek school when it lit, it was my very first school and I grew up there.
I balled my eyes out when it happened!
very sad
If i recall that was the last historic building in badgerys creek (opened in the early 1900s). Sad to see it now being apart of history
I lived in Longleys road for 13 years right down the end on the left b4 the old greenhouses down the dead end, end. My son went to Badgerys Creek PS when Ray Farnham was principal. The burnt out building was the canteen...my sons old classroom was the brick building far right.... it is so sad to see the area abandoned now. Thank you for the tour, bought back a lot of memories... good and bad......the place is unrecognisable now.....
😭😭😭I went to this school had good memories my best friend Dakota, Jayde..... everyone I miss them so much. Know I go to Mullion Creek Public School. The memories I had at that school was amazing but those people who tried burning it down broke my heart it was the most best school. After that I never saw her again, my best friend Dakota and her sisters...I'm crying right know because I miss this school so much😭😭😭😭😭😭 and you went past my house...old house that is. It was around 12 minutes on Lawson Street when you turn right it's the first house I miss my friends, my house. But I guess I have new friends know I'm in year 6 and have friends but not as good friends as ones in Badgerys Creek. When ever I see videos of it ESPECIALLY WHEN THE FLIPPING BUILDINGS ARE BURNT DOWN I CRY THE FLIP OUT. I know you probably don't care but this school was special to me and I had the best memories there 😭😭😭😭😭
You've filmed history. People will be watching this back in 10-20 years to compare the difference
Awesome vid. Look forward to seeing some videos of the new airport under construction.
Was like a great drive and going exploring! Made me feel like I was right there with you. Great job new subscriber :)
Great video. This will certainly be useful as the "before" scenario when comparing it to the completed airport in a few years time
I love cemeteries, especially old ones. Combined with a love of historical and heritage locations, I'm so peeved the cemetery is being relocated. The integrity and originality cannot simply be "moved".
I just did 2 vids on cemetaries, in country NSW they moved the headstones from 3 "neglected" sites, the sites are now parks.
I'll bet money the bodies were not moved. You can see in 1 vid I did there is no room for the bodies.
The headstones ate cemeted into walls in a corner of a park ( which was 1 of the former cemetery )
I ask the question "are parks former cemetaries" ?
good on ya bud. good to see someone doing local stuff.
Hi Phil, interesting video. I certainly hope the people who had to move our received fair prices for their properties. I know sometimes when this type of situation happens, the residents only receive rock bottom prices. It was the opposite here in Melbourne. When Tullamarine Airport was built, it was mostly on vacant farmland. However, once it was built and running, all the land around it was sold for housing. Anyway, take care. Rob in Melbourne Australia.
allways watch your vids they give me photoshoot ideas
it seams surreal what will happen to this beautiful area and that I will have an airport 15 mins away, and sad people had to leave, especially seeing the school like that
It is bloody sad to see this Badgery's Creek being a ghost town 2 make way for international airport which will be a white elephant!
Thanks for this interesting video. We live in St Clair and expect to probably be in the flight path someday. Currently, the aircraft fly over but probably 30 or 40,000 feet above us.
Hey abandoned Oz could you do a town called yerranderie?
Yerranderie is a ghost town located near the kanangra boyd national park in the blue mountains. The history of yerranderie was the population of people was 2000 people as a diver mining and gold mining industry witch collapsed in 1927 witch went by dirt Rd along lake burragorang and waragamba dam witch cut off the rd to the town witch made it become history now the town is broken up into two sections the town ship and the historic ruins to get their YOU have go by dirt rd from Oberon to get their.
Feel sorry for the snakes and wildlife where do they go when we get another airport
Its great to have this vid history.
I went to school there for kindy and grade 1. If you knew some of the horrible people that lived there and what so many of the children went through there you’d be happy it’s be smashed to the ground. Very interesting to watch and see it in that state. I feel sad for the wild life but happy I can get closure in hauntings of my childhood in a scary town with some scary people. Sad also for the kind people of course.
Very interesting, thank you for your comment!
No one deserves to go through the bad things.
I have heard a few things about Badgery’s Creek over the years.
If you saw at the end of this video we were chased out by a very very angry guy.
He tried to perform a pit manoeuvre but failed thankfully.
@@AbandonedOZ omg... wtf
Where would I be able to learn about the dark history of badgerys creek ? I wanna know all the stories
Aaaah progress, isn't it great? Like your channel.
What car do you have
So wait a minute, is the whole suburb of Badgerys Creek being demolished or is it only certain parts? Badgerys Creek is a massive area and i doubt the new airport will take the whole suburb completely.
Do a lot of the properties that have been left look like people have been going through the,??
THANK YOU FOR DETAIL VIDEO
HOPE THAT FIX THE FLOODING AT BADGERY AS LOT THAT AREA GO DEEP UNDERWATER WHEN LOT OF RAIN DAYS AS SEE AREA UNDERWATER WHERE GO PUT AIRPORT
Do you plan to explore outside of Sydney? Also I like your video keep up the good work!
+Ghawk Yeah ill have to look for places to explore out of Sydney :)
Thanks heaps!
Its so sad seeing driveways leading to houses that used to be..and places yet to be torn down due to the airport 😔 i get things need to progress for future development, but it still makes me sad seeing old towns being pulverised😢
Lego Street. Is that before or after MegaBlox Street?
Are you driving a left-hand-drive car? The camera-angle from inside your car suggests you're sitting on the left-side of the vehicle but when you pan right, there's no-one in what would normally be the driver's seat.
If you ever want to explore down in Victoria I no a few places about 3hrs from melb in the country
When will they start building
looking forward to the new airport
nice video i do places too in Holland and Belgium maby you could see keep it up !
My dad sometimes drives through here with me, most buildings are still there!
Damn...my father lived there about 20 years prior when he was in his teens...
it looks very peaceful.
+Sam Sitar It looks that way however i had to end the video abruptly because a random person told me to F**k off.
+Abandoned OZ I experienced the same as you Phil when I was exploring the area just under a month ago. It seems there are some pissed off locals still angry at being evicted off their land.
Do you have two video
As of 2 days ago the 24th of September 2018, CONSTRUCTION ON THE AIRPORT HAS STARTED FINALLY! It was first suggested back in 1946. Only 70 years in the making lol. Absolute joke.
I looked up on the net about old cemetery's they do not dig up bodies they only remove the head stones,I couldn't believe it but I could as they then transform the land to whatever they need at the time. they do not dig up and move the bodies.
I did 2 vids on cemetaries in country NSW they moved the headstones from the sites, I'll bet they didn't move the bodies ?
I ask the question are parks former cemetaries ? ( not all, the older suburbs have little parks all over the place ) puts a different spin on it all doesn't it ?
Can tell me where you found that information ? Link ?
Would love to see some videos of the Central Coast
+PUNK1ZM Do you know of any abandonments in the Central Coast?
+Abandoned OZ Biggest one is Morriset mental asylum, I haven't been there personally but I know few urbexers go there for shots buts it very run down.
hi mate u should invest in a dji spark drone will help your reviews
I cant find it but if you search you find historical council stuff on it.
Dude! U should have told me u were going there... We knew where the houses were which families lived where all sorts ❤️
It's interesting to go on Google Street View and check out the streets in 2014/15.
Should go back now and see the difference the airport has changed things.
15.09 Australian Native Landscapes.I work there sometimes
Mate we use to live down there on leggo street and this was meant to have been built back in 1992 and has never happened if you ever go for another drive out there could you go do a video on the last house on leggo street mate thanks
Hey mate just so you do know the leggo street goes all the why down to a house number 70 it was as them gates are new so how ever is living down there now has put them ones up as you use to still be able to drive down there as on the left there should still be not to sure a two story house there and then right down the end was a shed
The other big thing is that the N.S.W state gavament put a hell of a lot of people out here as the airport was meant to have been build and finished by 2000 thats why they had been buying the farms up but the thing was alot of places didn't want to sell at that time and who ever did sell didn't get what the land was worth it was alot of bullshit it was i use to love living out there as a kid
No that lake was put for the water run off for the airport
i watch them build them as a kid
Its now bare no trees getting flattened so sad was lovely driving around there now its blah
It has changed so much.
I was travelling on the Northern Rd today and wow!
A great video mate, new subscriber! Shame to see a big settlement ruin for a stupid airport
That’s creepy you went past my house
Mine too
what a creepy place
Cousins went to that school one glass was like kindy to year 3 3 to six in one glass 12 students my lived in badgerys greek down from where the bowling club was
12 student whole school
Dumper’s make me so ANGRY, There nothing but PIG’s! 😡
i swear there is the old place where thomas and friends mini train ride were held
+Trains / Gaming 3219 I heard something about that but i can't find anything about it
I believe that would be the Train Shed at Luddenham
That was off the Northern road I think at the old Vicary’s winery site.
If I was looking to make a zombie movie, I'd film here
I have taken photo of the school and grave yards down the road you carnt get in anymore all government warning that was a month ago some one taken badger creek sign of at the park
Kurt Schlesinger hi mate do you still have these images? I am currently writing a novel about that cemetery, would be amazing if you have some images!
Who was driving?
+Tanki Divide My partner.
+Tanki Divide My partner.
+Abandoned OZ ?
A cemetery in the middle of Badgerys Creek? Of course! It's the "dead centre" of town! LOL
I think the caretakers name was Doug Graves.
*them
I miss the good old days 😔
But what can I say 😔
The governments in charge 😔😡🤔
I lived there
Just like the old music hall song "They're digging up Granpa's grave to build a shithouse"
I just did a few vids on cemetaries in country NSW, they moved the headstones, and now the 3 sites are parks, I'll bet they didn't move the graves, just the headstones.
I ask the question are parks former cemetaries ?
" for now. " a nice country drive !" ( take a packed lunch 😋 )
Spastics I miss the old days
Jesus nature didn't fuck around, took all her shit back!
The worse part the people living there, had no say..the state government came in took the land and the people had no choice but to take the money and move..
Thats standard you never actually own land or a house as it can always be taken.
They did that to my family we lived and owned our house in Homebush NSW. 1998 we got told to leave immediately my father refused and said no but we had no choice I was young at the time and I never really got told Why. Years later I realised we moved out because every house on the block including ours was knocked down to build the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games which was held in Homebush where we used to live🤦 at the end my father gave them his price and they had no choice $$😄
No wonder there are so many homeless people in Penrith. This must have pissed up the dollarydoos the government forced them to take in the buy out.
They airport should have never been put there
The Govt has been talking about building it for at least 30 years on and off.
You went past my grandmas house
A Ghost Town? I guess you don't get outta the city much champ!
Amazing to think they're going to turn a nothing happening crappy little country town essentially into a major international airport. Times change I guess as the Sydney Olympic site used to be rail yards and an abattoir so...
Ghost town now, till they build the bullshit airport!!!!!
I had to quit watching after three minutes because that infernal background rumble - was it the car or was it wind noise? - made my speakers rattle and my ears sore. You need to do some serious noise filtering / balancing before uploading. I'm sure your material is worth watching (I've seen a couple that weren't all noise), so please consider this suggestion.
