- At the recently held Raisina Dialogue in New Delhi, SNI’s Deputy Editor Parul Chandra chatted with Dr C.Christine Fair, an Associate Professor with the Peace and Security Studies Program at Georgetown University in Washington DC. Dr Fair is an authority on political and military matters in the subcontinent and the author of several books. She told SNI that her most recent work ‘In Their Own Words: Understanding Laskhar-e-Tayyaba’ delves into the mind of this terror outfit through its writings and the role it plays within Pakistan. She also held out little hope for peace to prevail between India and Pakistan, noting how the Pak army sabotages such initiatives.

Conclusively, India lost an equal scale of territory to us in 1948 war (today's Azad Kashmir). So we're kind of even now.
India claimed the whole J&K, on the basis of Instrument of accession by the then ruler of J&K, Hari Singh, right after Partition of India. Pakistan rejected it and invaded J&K with full strength. Pakistan successfully defeated the Indian forces and captured 40% area of J&K Valley. Indian forces lost the battle in J&K, and to stop the invading forces of Pakistan, seeked the help of UN to save rest of J&K Valley, . Or in other words if India was dominant in 1947 war, it would have taken all of the J&K valley under its control, which is legally part of India as per the instrument of accession (at least as per Indian claims), rather than intervening UN for cease fire and ultimately giving up 40% area of “Integral part of India”, which is under Pakistan control as of to date, in form of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
In 1965, Pakistan successfully invaded IOK, and defeated all Indian opposition there, India was not able to defend J&K from Pak forces, India lost the Battle in J&K, and to subvert the attention of Pakistan from J&K, it invaded International borders of Pakistan, but could not successfully capture any of Pakistan’s major City as a negotiating tool to get Kashmir valley freed from Pakistani Militants. Instead India suffered heavy losses from retaliatory of Pakistan on international borders as well. Specifically in Air battle. whilst PAF had an air superiority over IAF in ratio 1:4. Indo-Pakistani Air War of 1965. India got the Indian occupied Kashmir freed from Pakistan backed forces, finally by seeking USSR intervention, which ensured to relieve Indian occupied Kashmir from Pakistan, and was handed back to India. Tashkent Declaration.
1971- A Transparent clean sweep victory of India- But at the same time formation of Bangladesh is more internal political failure of Pakistan, rather than Military victory of India or in other words if Zulfikar Ali Bhutto (Perspective candidate of PM from west Pakistan) would have allowed Sheikh Mujibur Rehman (Perspective candidate of PM from East Pakistan) to form Govt, which was his legal and constitutional right, India would have no way able to put Bangladesh on worlds map.
In 1999, Pakistan invaded successfully Indian Occupied Kashmir from Kargil sector. Captured its key peaks and blocked only national highway NH-1 connecting the three parts of J&K Valley Srinagar (Kashmir valley), Kargil (Drass) and Laddakh (Leh)-India was NOT able to push back Pakistani intruders, and instead of in this attempt India suffered heavy casualties Kargil War. Even got short of coffins for their killed soldiers Kargil coffin scam. India again lost the battle in Kargil sector, and was NOT able to get their peaks back from Pakistani intruders and seeked help from US and Israel, to get this job done. Foreign relations of the United States.
So India has lost all the wars from Pakistan, except the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971.
Not to forget the multiple times smaller size of Pakistan from India, in geographical area, population, economy, and consequently in military size and strength.

I'm following dr. Prof. C.F for quite a few years now, she is so honest that it hurts some people. I appreciate her tremendous depth of knowledge in her field, very few people have this kind of understanding or thought.

Christine is bang on with her observation about the peace talks getting interrupted by terror attacks ! Its a set pattern because the Pakistan Army doesn't want any peace talks. They just want status quo which is in best interest for them as it keeps getting them military/ financial aid from US !
