To me, this is easily a Superior city-building game. The learning curve is massive and you are continuously finding things going wrong, no matter how many hours you have into the game. It's a very slow-paced game, so the player really knows their map when they are well-into the game. The map basically becomes a friend or family member! In those rare instances when everything is going well, then natural disaster hits. If you do not like to micro-managing then this game is not for you, but if you like to be in charge of everything (and, of course, be responsible for all the inevitable failures) this game is great fun and always a challenge.
Completely agree! The depth is unparalleled - and it's not a city builder you can hop in and out of - it really demands time and patience. And that is going to be very divisive. Some will love the challenge, the micro-managing and the logistics (like Myself) - but others will hate it (like Louka). I don't think its a game that you can force yourself to like, or that it'll just 'click' - it really is there for a specific type of person.
I feel like ranking this and Banished at the same level was the best idea possible since they're really similar in terms of philosophy and vary only in the timeframe
It's crazy how so many city builders can be connected together and loads can trace themselves back to a few key games. Obviously there are huge sweeping changes, but those design philosophies link together so many different games. Finding those links was one of the reasons we set out to do this, as well as looking at each game in a different light. A lot of very different people like these sorts of games for very different reasons, so coming at each games from opposite ends of the spectrum - well its been a fun journey so far!
It is probably difficult for both of you. But ranking B is for easy game player. Game starts being much more interesting time by time, when you start learning how things works and worked in soviet countries in past.
I'd played through a few maps and made a few cities prior to this and I agree - the game really steps up when you introduce more systems. I went with the basic campaign here as not to overwhelm Louka (who was already out of her comfort zone even here!) I think it's a really great game with unparalleled depth. The only things keeping it off S tier for me are stuff like UI/UX & some graphical bugs and glitches. The plan is to do a slight reshuffle of the tier list as we cover more games - so this way well see itself bumped up a tier. - Willis
Easily the S tier city builder once you spend the time to learn it. It's not something you can just pick up and immediately enjoy, but the fun part is that there's so much happening that it never gets old and there's always something new to learn.
Good to see some love for W&R! We're planning to have a reshuffle of the tier list every 8-10 games so it may well get bumped up when that happens. Also I wanted to clarify - when we go into the games one (or both) of us will have played it a decent amount already so we'll never be judging based on just the gameplay shown. In this case, I think W&R just isn't going to appeal to Louka (a more casual audience) no matter how much is played - hence her lower score compared to mine. But based on someone who likes all the crunchy stuff and logistics and whatnot, it scores much higher. The only thing keeping it off S tier for me is the UI/UX being a bit clunky here and there, and some graphical bugs and problems I experience fairly frequently. - Willis
Explosive cows 💥 🐄 and a state of the art road system. Brilliant. Great video Louka and Willis.
I feel like this will be a running theme. Any time anything seems like it's going well - something terrible is about to happen.
Personally this is the best city builder I have ever played...

Was surprised when I saw the low subscriber count. Well done video
I loved the ✨ luxury streetlights ✨

Louka should voice over the Loukamobile on the next iteration of Thomas
She would ignore the script (reading - ugh) and just do her own thing.
I'd watch that.

In Soviet Russia, resources collect you.

This game looks amazing and I would love to do some socialism but this is not the game for me. I can't wait for the next game you review.
It's a very polarising game for sure. Plenty more on the way that might be more your cup of tea!
