It’s a glitch with the mic emulation, mines sounds like a bad slipknot and similar haha It depends what emulator you have. Resident evil DS is hilarious when you play about with the cheats etc. Love Nintendogs, lots of golden memories ❤🐾
Yk how it sounds weird when you record your voice, in my version of Nintendogs best friends it sounds like a better recording then usual. I think it’s because your a bit close to it causing the voice to be a bit distorted .
I’m like 90% sure it’s because the DS used a much lower sampling rate for this feature than the standard 44.1kHz or 48kHz used by most digital audio devices, such as the microphone being passed into the emulator (but you didn’t hear that it was emulation from me!). For example, if the system requests two seconds worth of audio sampled at 22050 Hz* but it just takes one second of 44100 Hz audio and spreads those samples out over two seconds instead of converting or dropping every other sample, it would effectively be at half-speed when played back. * …and for all I know the DS might have used something even lower than 22050 Hz; a lot of voice to text and speech analysis software seems to operate with 8000 Hz audio input by default, from what I’ve seen in various Python code libraries. Dropping a 44100 Hz down to 8000 Hz without resampling would effectively be like 18% speed playback, so even slower than quarter-speed - resulting in over a two-octave drop in the pitch of the voice!
