The fact that they were able to do no loading screens in an open world with just 32 mb of ram with just the DVD drive and no HDD while still maintaining the visual fidelity high at 60 FPS is insane. Even on cutting edge PCs with like 20 times more ram and fast HDD there was just not a game that could do all of that until years later. In the mid to late 2000s (i think) when i first played this game, you have no idea how huge the jump from PS1 Crash Bandicoot to Jak And Daxter was to me, i think the jump of PS2 was the best in terms of 3d. No linear camera like Crash while still rendering like 1000 times more things and with better textures. Nowadays a modern open world game can look worse than a previous gen more linear game. This game is just a proof that optimization skills would always surpass superior hardware.

I bought my copy of Tomb Raider in 1997 after ogling the last one for two months on the shelf or our book shop. It was 200 FIM on discount. I only had an old 486 DX4 120 MHz and the shopkeeper said it requires Pentium. I took the risk, went home with it, and it worked just fine, not with the best resolution, but mainly playable. And I fell in love with it. Then I played it on a console at a friend's place and I instantly hated the save gem system.

6:20 Please share explain why, during editing, you didn't rerecord the voice line to "hideout" instead? Would've taken you 2 seconds and it would've been far more logical than using subtitles to make the correction AND it would've been so much funnier.

This game had a lot of the jump scares. When i was a kid, i was scared of this game like im playing resident evil.

I am a zoomer but I found out about this game in 2005, as I was about 9 years old then and had it on ps2. They did a ps3 remaster and I believe you can get it on other systems as well as emulate it.

Starting to think Lara Croft just uses raiding tombs as an excuse to hunt endangered animals. Crazy to me that the PS1 had 5 Tomb Raider games released on it. Now adays your lucky if you get a sequel within the same console generation.
